Vietnamese toy retailer Mykingdom has just published official pictures of two brand new LEGO DC Super Heroes sets. Both products include Batmobiles. While 76180 Batman vs. The Joker Automobile Chase is a 4+ building set for younger fans, 76188 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile is a regular set based on the classic images of the vehicle and heroes. The piece count, regional prices, and availability are yet to be confirmed.
Thanks to the US retailer Barnes and Noble, the official pictures of the newest LEGO Super Heroes set, 76182 Batman Cowl, are finally here. A 410-piece set, designed in the style and format similar to the recently announced 76199 Carnage bust, will retail for US $60. Regional prices and precise availability dates are yet to be confirmed, but we expect the set to go on sale as soon as late April.
We’ve seen several very impressive Batcaves over the years but poor Mr. Freeze has been largely thus far given the cold shoulder. Until now. Brothers Brick alumni Tim Lydy invests several months and an ungodly amount of LEGO bricks, both stock and custom, to give Mr. Freeze a fitting lair complete with about seventy individual LED lights. The exterior of the museum is quite impressive with its textured brickwork and massive Spartan statues flanking central Greek-style columns. The icy ornamentation along the top and the frozen tail to the right offers just a glimpse of what’s inside. Let’s take a tour, shall we?
The classic Batman TV series that ran during the 1960s had its fair share of strange and flamboyant characters – both heroic and villainous. “King Tut”, an Egyptologist at Yale University turned villain due to amnesia, is no exception. LEGO builder Brick Grayson, creates a neat vehicle based on the concept of the Batman villain, and surely it should make any Batman and LEGO fan very content.
The rear portion of the car is surely a reference to the Adventurer’s theme sphinx, almost quoting the original build verbatim. The rest of the model is smoothly fashioned out of bricks, slopes, and tiles; the shape of it resembling the 1989 Batmobile. Of course, the King Tut minifigure from the first Batman Collectible Minifigure series is operating the vehicle. Grayson’s build is his way of celebrating the television series’ 55th anniversary; it’s certainly a worthy model for the occasion.
Brothers Brick contributor Chris Doyle is back with another heroic pop-culture mosaic in the LEGO art style. Completing his “Trinity” of retro DC superheroes is Batman as portrayed by Adam West. Because of course that’s the version he’d build.
The 1960’s Batman was a far cry from the grim and gritty versions on the screen these days. This was a Batman who was always looking for the best in people, who was always quick to lend a helping hand, and who’s level of violence was limited to “Biff!” and “Pow!” and the occasional “Splatt!” This is the Batman who I’d want to see in my dream Justice League, along with the Lynda Carter version Wonder Woman and Christopher Reeve’s Superman.
You should dress for the job you want and not the job you have. Which explains why I spent the afternoon in the HR office dressed as Batman. I wish I could take credit for that joke but it’s not mine to claim. Still, I’m certain LEGO builder Riley Scott can appreciate the sentiment as evidenced by this wearable Batman mask. This is not Riley’s first rodeo with 1:1 scale wearable art. Here’s the Stormbringer from the Avengers: Infinity War and be sure to try D.C.s Atom outfit on for size. Also check out Starlord’s helmet. Riley seems to give equal love to both D.C. and Marvel, which just shows we’re all superhero dorks at heart, regardless of sides.
Batman movies are synonymous with being blockbusters, but rarely ever a “bust.” Now Tim Lydy makes that uncommon instance all the rage through the reveal of The Batman bust. Tim’s creation displays the cold stone-faced expression of Robert Pattinson, who is the latest actor to portray Batman in the forthcoming film. Since the film’s announcement this year, details around Batman’s cowl and suit have been a hot topic of conversation on social media.
The long ears are back after their short stint on the caped crusader in Justice League and Batman vs. Superman. Tim also uses two pairs of elements on each side of the chest’s silhouette. The medium barrel automatic pistol and the black pistol revolver both reflect how firearms shape the new logo in The Batman. Around the base, the placement of the black cat, question mark and umbrella reference the film’s villains: Catwoman, Riddler and Penguin, respectively.
Starting today through November 30, Tim’s The Batman bust is for sale to benefit 2020’s Creations for Charity event. Four copies of the bust will be available for purchase, and all of the sales fund LEGO sets for underprivileged kids this Christmas.
Just last year, LEGO brought fans one of the most iconic iterations of the Batmobile, the swooping, elegant design from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman starring Michael Keaton in the titular role. The 1989 Batmobile (76139) was a big success and received rave reviews, including our own. Now LEGO is hoping to strike twice by returning to the same source material for another of Batman’s crazy rides. Revealed today, the new 1989 Batwing (76161) has 2,363 pieces and will retail for US $199.99 | UK £179.99 | EU €199.99 when it’s available for LEGO VIP members October 21. It will be available for everyone starting November 1, and will include three minifigures of Batman, The Joker, and the Boombox Goon.
At a glance, this may look like a LEGO minifig, but it is indeed a Maxifig. It has the same shape and proportions of your usual minifig, but it built up to a monstrous size. Pascal Hetzel has crafted this Joker Maxifig nicely with a bright bowtie, a purple and green outfit and even a pocket watch chain.The hands are shaped by using actual minifig legs. Using minifig parts to build a Maxifig; I’m sure there’s a clever word or phrase for that but damned if I can figure it out now. Perhaps you can in the comments.
As this shot reveals, Pascal has even built each section as if it were an actual minifig, complete with separate legs, torso, head, and hair elements. That is some clever Maxifig building right there! Pascal has built the Joker, and now he should build the Smoker and the Midnight Toker to finish out the trio. Boy, did I just date myself! Nevermind Googling the reference, kids. Just get off my lawn.

LEGO’s new Brick Sketches product line featuring brick-built portraits of popular characters is now available. The first four sets in the lineup include BB-8, a First Order Stormtrooper, Batman and The Joker.
The 2D portraits are the next collectible LEGO product line following BrickHeadz and are the work of recently hired LEGO designer Chris McVeigh who created the Brick Sketch concept several years ago (read our interview with him about how Brick Sketches became an actual LEGO product).

You can now determine the fate of the World’s Finest, aka Trinity, aka the three most popular characters in the DC Universe — Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman — by building them as LEGO Miniland characters using these video instructions created by Tiago Catarino in a collaboration together with Pedro Sequeira.
That 2×2 corner wedge plate used for Superman’s insignia has always reminded me of the Man of Steel, and I’m glad someone else sees that too! Up up and away!
