When I was a kid I was a sucker for toys, t-shirts, candy or books with a lenticular printing. Lenticular printing is a technology in which lenticular lenses are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. Back in the 90’s it was everywhere! Okay Yaramanoglu used a whole lot of LEGO cheese slopes in their latest creation to achieve this effect.
From one side we can see everyone’s favorite neighborhood hero, Spider-Man. But shift it a bit and his nemesis Venom is pictured. This pairing of good vs evil makes a perfect subject to use the lenticular technique on. And best yet, the build is not made to look like a framed picture or a poster, but rather it’s built to look like an actual comic book, complete with binding, book cover, differently colored pages on the inside and a barcode on the cover.
LEGO has been expanding their line of collectible helmet models into super-heroic realms. We recently shared an early look at Marvel 76199 Carnage, and today we’ll delve into the eerily similar Marvel 76187 Venom. This 565 piece set will be available April 26th from the LEGO Shop Online for US $59.99 | CAN $79.99 | UK £54.99. Like Venom himself, there are good things and bad things about this set. But will the final verdict be “hero” or “villain”? Read on and see!
The LEGO Group provided The Brothers Brick with an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.
Several new LEGO Super Heroes sets have just been listed on LEGO Shop. Besides the 76188 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile, which was revealed earlier this week, two brand new sets are listed too; LEGO Marvel Spider-Man 76187 Venom and 76198 Spider-Man & Doctor Octopus Mech Battle. All three will be available from April 26.
LEGO unveiled one additional set yesterday at Toy Fair New York, LEGO Spider-Man 76151 Venomosaurus Ambush. The 640-piece set features a Venomized tyrannosaurus, a Spider-Buggy, and four minifigures including Spider-Man, Spider-Ham, Iron Spider and Venom.
LEGO requested that pictures of the set not be published until today, hence the confidential marking on the box. The set will retail for US $79.99 beginning June 1st.
LEGO has revealed five new sets based on Marvel’s webslinging superhero, Spider-Man. The five sets range from battling mechs to Junior’s racers. The sets will be available for purchase from LEGO this weekend, starting November 24th.
The largest set featuring an imposing mechanized Venom was revealed earlier this summer, but this is the first we’ve seen official photos of the rest of the wave, including lots of new minifigures.
The symbiotic anti-hero Venom comes to life in LEGO bricks in a lifelike replica helmet/mask built by Brickatecture moc industries. Shaping is on point in his interpretation of Tom Hardy’s Venom, with tooth plates adding a bit of texture to the jawline and eye.
What makes his Venom mask interesting is the open right side, revealing the symbiote’s host face underneath. It’s a smart decision that adds a lot of character to the build, and shows off the model’s true scale as a life-size mask.
