Hands on with the LEGO Speed Champions 75884 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback [Review]

Although LEGO didn’t showcase the new wave of 2018 LEGO Speed Champions last weekend at Toy Fair New York, the full assortment was waiting for us in Seattle upon our return, and we’ll be bringing you reviews of each set over this coming week, ahead of their release on March 1st. We’re kicking things off today with 75884 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback, which includes 183 pieces and will retail for $15.99 (USD) / £12.99 / 14.99€.

The Ford Mustang was first introduced in 1964, and quickly became a favorite among car enthusiasts for its excellent balance of speed, power, styling, and affordability. The “fastback” version is curved from the roof to the tail, and was particularly popular as the stock basis for racecars. This LEGO set depicts the classic 1968 Ford Mustang with curved fastback styling, kitted out in British racing green (complete with a white stripe along the side).

Solo: A Star Wars Story character movie posters in LEGO [News]

We got our hands on the Kessrel Run Millennium Falcon at Toy Fair in New York City yesterday, and the movie’s release is coming up in May. Naturally, the hype is ramping up, and one of the things we’ve always enjoyed about each new Star Wars movie has been LEGO versions of the movie posters. The graphic designers at LEGO have created character posters for four of the main characters in Solo: A Star Wars Story. There are posters for young Han Solo, the new Chewbacca design, new character Qi’ra (played by Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones fame), and young Lando Calrissian.

LEGO Ninjago + Boost compatibility unveiled at New York Toy Fair 2018 [News]

The major LEGO Ninjago news from New York Toy Fair 2018 today is that the LEGO BOOST system we reviewed recently is being extended to support other product lines, starting with LEGO Ninjago dragons. This confirms information that the LEGO Boost team shared with The Brothers Brick at CES Las Vegas ahead of BOOST’s launch last year — that BOOST is designed as a long-term line, not a one-off set.

The new LEGO Ninjago set, 70652 Stormbringer will retail for $39.99 and go on sale in August (one of the only Summer 2018 sets displayed at Toy Fair). The set was showcased as part of the LEGO Boost area at Toy Fair, and no other Ninjago sets were revealed today.
