DC Comics’ legendary Dark Knight has a solid place in the world of LEGO, with official LEGO Batman sets released in 2006-2008 and again starting in 2012 (As part of the LEGO Super Heroes DC Universe line). Along the way, there have also been two LEGO Batman video games. But all the official products pale in comparison to the wonderful fan-built Batmobiles, Batwings, and variations on the Batcave. It’s not who I am underneath, but what I build that defines me

In this, the Caped Crusader’s 80th birthday year, what better way to celebrate the influence and impact of Bob Kane’s creation than with Timofey Tkachev‘s large-scale LEGO sculpture? The Batman has rarely looked better in the brick — the model’s shaping is spot-on, perfectly capturing those to-die-for Bat-Abs, and making a nice job of the comic world’s Second-Most-Iconic-Chin (Judge Dredd is clearly No. 1, in case you were wondering). The sculpting of the bat sigil on the chest is worth a good look, and I dread to think about the tricky connections which were required underneath all that armour to get the angles right.

Where does he get those wonderful toys? The LEGO Store, obviously

One of the highlights of Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman movie was the design of the Batmobile. Its sleek lines, dramatic fins, and ludicrous rocket power was a perfect match for the film’s “Jet-Age Art Deco vs Gothic Noir” design vision for Gotham City. This LEGO version by Centuri is a suitably dark and sinister brick-built tribute — proof that even non-LEGO Batman only builds in black and (sometimes) very dark grey. The curves over the front wheels are perfect, and the fins on the engine vents look sharp enough to cut. And it took me a minute to place the part, but the use of witches cauldrons for the angled round intakes is surprisingly effective.

The brand new LEGO Hidden Side augmented reality product line is available starting today, as well as more than 50 new sets from Architecture, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Jurassic World, Technic and more. LEGO fans in the U.S. have had to wait patiently for this new wave of sets which has been available in Europe for a few months now.

LEGO is also offering two promotions including a reversible VIP tote bag and a LEGO Jurassic World polybag. If you combine this wave with the newly available LEGO Ideas Treehouse, Jurassic Park T-Rex, Creator Expert Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and Star Wars Droid Commander, there is an incredible amount of new LEGO sets just waiting to be built!

Batman – Steaming Mad at Criminals

Marvel Comics has their multiverse — alternate realities where the heroes you know are reimagined as something new. DC comics does something similar with their own characters, usually super grim and dark ones resulting from the timeline being broken by something the Flash did. (Really. It’s a trope.) But sometimes these stories can just be bight spots of fun, and if you’re really lucky you’ll get to enjoy one of them in LEGO form. For instance, have a look at this take on Batman and the Batmobile by Breado’s Bricks. Batman always has a ton of resources, so what if he really leaned into the glitz as much as the flying rodent thing? You might end up with the steampunk version we see here. Decked out in gold chrome elements, cape and cowl, and body armor, this Batman may not be stealthy, but he certainly is shiny.

SteamBat brings this sense of style into his ride as well. The BatRod mixes the traditional BatBlack with new and improved BatGold accents. Mag wheel covers and rims echo the highlights in the engine and exhaust. Even more gold adorns the front grill and headlights.

No matter what angle you view this car from, you’re going to be well aware that SteamBats has a lot of cash to spend. Take that, criminals!

Zebra Batman revealed as Diego Comic-Con 2019 LEGO DC Exclusive Minifigure [News]

LEGO just revealed the Zebra Batman minifigure as the DC Exclusive Minifigure that will be available at San Diego 2019 Comic Con. Zebra Batman was introduced in 1960 fighting against Zebra-Man as the villain. The minifigure can be obtained as part of a randomized draw on July 20th at the LEGO both in San Diego Comic-Con.

LEGO 77903 The Dark Knight of Gotham City revealed as San Diego Comic-con 2019 LEGO Exclusive

The LEGO DC exclusive set for San Diego Comic-Con 2019 has been revealed to be a 427-piece set featuring the theme celebrating Batman’s 80th Anniversary. 77903 The Dark Knight of Gotham City features the iconic diorama with Batman standing high on a building with gargoyles with the Bat-Signal in the background. The good news is at first glance there does not seem to be any unique parts to re-create this with parts on hand with the exception of the unique printed sticker. Similar to the reveal 2 days ago with Captain Marvel, it will be available at the convention for USD $45 and only available to those who win it at the Exclusives Portal Lottery.

Burton-era Batmobile blasting off

When it comes to movie Batmobiles, few versions are quite as iconic as the extra-long, jet engine powered model from the Tim Burton films. This sleek, finned creation by Riskjockey manages to combine luxury and high tech with its smooth curves, intake vents, sliding canopy and those giant signature batfins. The use of arches for the side intake vents is one of my favorite part usages. It’s also worth noting the subtly angled headlight assemblies on either side of that lovely jet engine intake on the front.

Plague Doctor Batman has the cure for what ails you

When Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman 80 years ago, they established rules for what he can be. While still following those same basic guidelines, other artists and writers can reimagine Batman with a myriad of possibilities. There has been a Samurai Batman, Robo-Batman, Viking Batman, even an adorable Fairy Batman thanks to The LEGO Movie 2. In the hands of Revan New, we have a fully posable Plague Doctor Batman. Fantastic details abound from the bat-winged trench coat to the brass buckles to the bit of medieval medical equipment in his hand.

The pièce de résistance, however, is his brimmed hat and the arcane bird-like mask worn by actual plague doctors in the 1600s. Revan uses a Harry Potter sorting hat to replicate the bird beak shape, a feature best viewed in this portrait.

Holy Barris Batmobile, Batman!

Back in the 1960s, Adam West delivered campy action and adventure as Batman in the live-action Batman TV series. In my opinion, the show produced the most elegant rendition of the Batmobile, and this LEGO version by Jerry Builds Bricks lives up to the beauty of the original. The 1966 Batmobile began life as the 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, famous for its then-futuristic bubble windows and pronounced fins. Car customizing legend George Barris modified the Futura’s body for the show. Jerry’s model possesses the sleek body and fins, cleverly positioned bubble windows, and flickering flame. Dare I say it’s Bat-tastic!

Holy ballerina music box, Batman!

Builder Kale Frost provides Fairy Batman with the perfect habitat in this clever music box model. The release of the first wave of LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigures brought us an astounding variety of Batmen: Mermaid Batman, Glam Metal Batman and even Catman, just to name a few. My personal favorite of the lot was Fairy Batman with his pink leotard, tutu and requisite magic wand. But, how to display such a character? Thanks to Frost, we finally have the answer!

This little wonder is a fully functional music box with opening lid, spinning Fairy Batman and yes, it plays music when the crank is turned! The exterior is beautifully rendered in brown and gold with Batarang accents. The larger bat on the front is particularly well done utilizing, teeth, bat wings and an ice cream cone. The box itself is gorgeous, but it’s the inside that really puts this model over the top.

Shiny ride for a dark knight

Probably, the worst thing about being Batman is that you always have to keep a low profile. Whether you’re punching criminals or chasing a villain through the Gotham City, the less attention you’re drawing to yourself, the better. But how can Batman be okay with this lifestyle while driving a collection of jaw-dropping vehicles? ianying616 presents an ostentatious alternative: the ultimate edition of the famous Batpod. Completely covered in chrome, including many custom chromed elements, this vehicle was designed to draw the eye. The metallic color of the pieces goes perfectly with their shapes; all the LEGO Technic connectors and panels make the model look like a diecast.
