LEGO Celebrates its 10 year anniversary of Ninjago with a visual feast. We share with you designs, artwork, and insights on popular sets never revealed before. With more than 200 sets released in a decade of TV Series, a Hollywood animated movie, and many more tie-ins and merchandise, there’s no doubt that this original concept is a winner with many fans across the world.

Well now, what is this all about? Bart De Dobbelaer presents us with this striking LEGO scene and, through a mission log, humorously illustrates that space travel can be at times exciting but also mind-numbingly dull. I’m smitten by the overall composition, the greebly space-cube, the pink alien vegetation, even the shadowed planet in the distance. The light from within is a spectacular touch! Bart calls this scene La Vie en Rose.
If you are to do some space travel anytime soon, I advise bringing a soundtrack. Might I suggest Édith Piaf or Lady Gaga? I suppose even this breathtaking image can seem dull if that is all you had to look at for months or even years on end. LEGO is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the wildly popular Ninjago theme in 2021. They kicked off the year by including golden minifigures in some new Ninjago sets, such as 71736 Boulder Blaster, and then launched the biggest-ever Ninjago set, 71741 Ninjago City Gardens, which is available starting today. Now the company is revealing four more sets launching in March that will tie in with the new season 14 of the Ninjago TV show. The sets come with an all-new setting that appears to be influenced by Polynesian cultures, with the usual Ninjago twist of martial arts, magic, crazy characters, and dragons.

The LEGO Ninjago City Gardens set is now available to all LEGO VIP members starting 14th January, a full 2 weeks ahead of the retail availability on 1st February. Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Ninjago theme with the largest Ninjago set ever produced to date with 5685 pieces and retailing at US $299.99 | CAN $399.99 | UK £274.99.
It’s a tribute to the enduring power of certain images that I cannot hear the word “cowbell” without thinking of Blue Öyster Cult and fevers. And the LEGO minifgure torso looks remarkably like a cowbell, if one ignores the holes where the arms should go; so when I faced the challenge of coming up with creative uses for the part, I just had to build a cow with a cowbell around her neck. The whole time I was building it, I had to resist the idea of scrapping the build and trying to craft a hairy Will Ferrell holding the cowbell instead, and “The Reaper” was playing on repeat in my head. Ever try to build LEGO while dancing around playing air cowbell? It ain’t easy. I snuck in another torso in the barn, and added some of my dad’s old bushes and trees around it for some microscale detail in the background. LEGO is truly a multi-generational toy!

Things can look pretty bleak, sometimes. So with that in mind, here is a LEGO guardian angel built by Kristel Whitaker to help you through some tough times. LEGO builder Thorsten Bonsch‘s latest creation is amazing. It features a lovely brick-built bridge, and the arch at the base of the bridge uses the same technique as the first vignette in this series. The rest of the bridge looks like it is being held together by gravity, and there must be some brilliant building techniques in this model to hold it together. I find it great that the base of the first and the last vignette is a ring, which also ties into the story of The Hobbit. The tree in this model also deserves some love, as creating a big, natural-looking tree out of square plastic bricks is one of the hardest things to do.
Let’s also take our time to look back at a few of the 43 creations Thorsten made during this series. Thorsten treated us to some lovely interior decor with chairs made of wands on a sprue and whips, tables with cattle horn legs, and chandeliers made out of paint roller brush handles
He also surprised us with lovely brick-built heads, beasts, and animals. The troll was featured in not one, not two, but three creations, but each of them was different. And Thorsten didn’t stop after creating the troll. He also made an eagle, a spider, a statue head, and to top it off a dragon head.
Last but not least, lets give this social distancing elf some love.
Paulville MOCs is no stranger to our pages, racking up almost as many hit creations as the Emeryville, CA-based animation studio Pixar. This little scene perfectly captures the multi-jointed lamp Luxo Jr and the distinctive company font with long serifs formed by partial clip connections and bit of flex tube.

The prominent minifigure torso in the lamp is the latest Iron Forge seed part being used by builders the world over in the latest free for all round. Our own Ben Stenlund recently used some to great effect as birdhouses.
Three LEGO sets for Disney’s upcoming animated film Raya and the Last Dragon have been revealed, thanks to retailer Learning Express Gifts. Raya was originally slated to premiere last November but has been bumped to March 5, when it will release simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+. The new LEGO sets are part of the Disney Princess lineup and feature minidolls rather than minifigures. The sets introduce a number of new elements for designs iconic to the movie, such as Raya’s conical straw hat and her pill bug-like companion Tuk Tuk, and of course, Sisu the dragon. There’s no word yet when the sets will be available for sale.

Okay, granted, it won’t be actually levitating, but if you’ve already secured one of these tiny cute little Grogu baby-figs, this bassinet may be something that you’d want to add to your display or custom creation scene and we have builder Vostroyan to thank them for.
