LEGO 40524 Sunflowers expand the botanical collection [Review]

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since LEGO added the Botanical Collection to their lineup but here we are. After the initial success of the 10280 Flower Bouquet and 10281 Bonsai Tree, as well as the 10289 Birds of Paradise that came later in the year, it was clear that LEGO would keep watering this prospering garden. Joining the ranks of the “botanical boosters” 40460 Roses and 40461 Tulips, LEGO has announced the upcoming 40524 Sunflowers (US $12.99 | CAN $16.99 | UK £11.99) to be release on January 1st, 2022.

Huge LEGO City 2022 lineup revealed with 21 new sets, bringing Fire, Police, NASA, and more [News]

Today LEGO has revealed a huge swath of new LEGO City sets for 2022, taking the wraps off 21 new sets. The sets span the usual City subjects with a heavy emphasis on emergency services with a new police station, fire station, and hospital, but also bring some less common subjects like a school, city park, and even a sardine factory. LEGO also revealed a pair of new City space sets that are a collaboration with NASA and are loosely based on NASA’s real-life Artemis project to return to the moon. While LEGO only revealed two of these NASA-inspired sets, we know there are more in the works since the back of the boxes point to there being additional sets in the space lineup. All of the new sets will be available Jan. 1, 2022.

LEGO Monkie Kid 80036: The City of Lanterns – The Monkie Kid city we’ve been waiting for [Review]

Ever since the Monkie Kid theme first launched, there have been many amazing sets, featuring huge mechs and mech-like figures, bright and colorful fully over-the-top vehicles and accessories, and a whole host of villains and minions. But aside from a few small buildings, and a headquarters on a cargo boat, there has not been much in the way of shops or restaurants to populate the world the characters live in. All that is about to change with LEGO 80036: The City of Lanterns. A stacked city scene consisting of eight individual buildings attached to a two-level structure complete with an elevated train. I am super excited about this set, and can’t wait to break it all down for you.

The City of Lanterns comes with 2,197 pieces and will be available on January 1st, for US $149.99 | CAN $179.99 | UK £114.99

LEGO Ninjago 71754 Water Dragon – Wherein Nya gets the blues [Review]

Ninjago is known for two main things (outside of Ninjas, anyway) – giant mechs and sweet, sweet dragons. The Seabound theme introduces another majestic beast into the mix with LEGO Ninjago 71754 Water Dragon. This 737 piece set is available now from the LEGO Shop Online for US $69.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £59.99. In addition to the dragon there’s also a mini-sub, five minifigures, and a display pedestal. Sounds like a good mix, but is it really? We picked up a copy to find out – come along as we take our own deep dive!

LEGO 5007016 VIP 1950’s Retro Tin – A nice little perk with purchase [Review]

The mad rush of sales and events leading up to the holiday season is in full swing, and LEGO is leaning hard into “how many ways can we get collectors to shell out big bucks multiple times over a span of several days?”  The first push, the VIP weekend, is drawing to a close, but there’s still a few hours (probably) for VIP members to pick up an interesting gift with purchase. LEGO 5007016 VIP 1950’s Retro Tin is available through November 25th from the LEGO Shop Online as a VIP Gift with qualifying purchases of US $250 | CAN $330 | UK £250.  The details about the tin are pretty sparse at LEGO.com, but their US shipping was quick, and we now have one on hand to share with you.
