Saturday and Sunday this weekend, Oct. 3-4, you can join with hundreds of other LEGO fans from around in the world in some LEGO fun with the BrickCon virtual convention. Tickets are just $5, and including access to two full days of LEGO programming. Fans will get to interact with current and former LEGO set designers, ask questions of contestants from the LEGO Masters TV show, watch brick-built robots compete in arena-style duels, and more.
For adult fans who want an even more in-depth experience, tickets start at $25 and include access to quite a few additional panels, entry to door prize draws, play games, and more starting tonight and going through the weekend.

Reported by the LEGO Star Wars fan group on Facebook today, the building instructions for Star Wars SDCC exclusive 77904 Nebulon-B Frigate set are available right now from LEGO.com. The 459-pieces model was originally designed as the exclusive set for San Diego Comic-Con 2020. With the cancellation of nearly all in-person events in North America due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this set expected to be available online later this year sharing the same fate as Star Wars Celebration exclusive 75294 Bespin Duel. Although the price and the availability are yet to be announced, we expect the price to be around $50 USD, if not higher.
Just like 75294 Bespin Duel, the new mini-version of the iconic ship features an exclusive plaque commemorating the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back release. Other than the plaque, which is a sticker, the set seems to include no unique or limited pieces, so anyone can try and build their copy.
This month’s social media cover photo, from LEGO builder Isaac Snyder, is straight from SHIPtember. Isaac’s SHIP was built over the course of 2 weeks and is 105 studs long. After taking a look at this vessel, it doesn’t take long to notice the resemblance. I don’t know about you, but after I realized what the shape was, I went looking for details to confirm my suspicions, and yes indeed, this spacecraft is shaped like a giant, brightly colored sci-fi space rifle.
The aft of the ship houses a semblance of a power generator, which is fun to visualize with its ring shape. The rest of the components are just as fun to admire. The “bullets” in the “magazine” and the “scope” all stand out and make you wonder how these work in space. Thanks for getting us thinking about the real questions, Isaac.

Today, the LEGO Ideas design team finally announced the First 2020 Review Results. This review round included 26 projects that reached 10,000 supporters between January and May 2020. Surprisingly enough, only one project was approved to become an official LEGO Ideas set so far — Earth Globe by Guillaume Roussel (aka Disneybrick55). Designers praise the idea for its possible educational application and display value. Release date, price range, and availability are yet to be announced.

BrickCon, the longest continuously running LEGO convention, is happening this weekend, October 2-4. Usually occurring in Seattle, this year the organizers have moved the con completely online. The adult-builder-focused con will consist of panels with special guests, breakout sessions on a variety of LEGO topics, games, trivia, prizes, and more. Various tiers of registration include the options to get a variety of swag, such as the con t-shirt, a surprise goodie bag, participation in the door-prize pool, and more. Ticket prices range from $25 to $80 depending on tier and shipping location, though we have been told that some tiers are close to selling out. Every AFOL-focused tier will get access to the full con experience.
For fans who just want to tune in see cool LEGO MOCs, visit the virtual Brick Bazaar, and watch a more limited live-stream of Q&As and builder discussions, more akin the typical public convention experience, tickets available for $5.

The holiday season is around the corner, which means it’s time for LEGO to reveal this year’s addition to the Winter Village line, 10275 Elf Club House. The perfect sequel to 2014’s Santa’s Workshop, the Elf Club House includes 1,197 pieces, four minifigures, a reindeer pulling a sleigh, toys, gifts, and a Christmas tree. Earlier today we brought you a full, hands-on review of this brand-new set, but here are the official images and press release, along with an interview with set designer Chris McVeigh.

Earlier today we brought you a hands-on review of the newest LEGO Star Wars set from The Mandalorian, 75318 The Child, but here are the official images from LEGO. Better known by the fan nickname of Baby Yoda, the character stands about 8 inches tall and has a poseable head, ears, and mouth. Featuring 1,073 pieces, the set will be available for pre-order starting October 21, and is slated to be available to purchase on October 30th, coinciding with The Mandalorian’s second season debut on Disney+. The Child will retail for US $79.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £69.99.

It’s hard to believe, but somehow it’s already nearly October. While some people think that should mean “Halloween all the time,” others–particularly those in marketing–think that it’s a good time to start getting everyone ready for the gift-giving holidays. Normally that just makes me grumpy, but it does have the occasional upside. Here’s one of those positives: it’s time for LEGO to announce the newest addition to their Winter Village Collection! This year, we leave Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole to check out what the elves get up to in their spare time…namely hanging out in their club house. This highly anticipated set spans 1,197 pieces with goodies like a new minifigure-scaled reindeer, four elves, a heap of presents, and, oh yeah, the club house itself. Ever since Star Wars: The Mandalorian debuted on Disney+ last year, the adorable, nameless alien has set the internet on fire. Simply called “The Child” in the show, fans have dubbed the green toddler Baby Yoda, and to help protect season 1’s plot, Disney didn’t license any toys of the character until this year. Now LEGO is diving into the merchandising, providing fans with three different scales of Baby Yoda in anticipation of season 2. The latest, being officially revealed today (though images have been circulating for awhile), is this 1,073-piece buildable figure. 75318 The Child will retail for US $79.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £69.99, and will be available for pre-order starting October 21, and will release on October 30 in conjunction with The Mandalorian season 2 debut.
