Signing off from the internet!

There’s an appeal to signing off of all social media and the internet for a weekend or maybe even a month. Some people sign off and never look back. The rest of us might miss their intriguing content or hilarious memes but, in logging off, they find peace of mind for themselves. That’s exactly what is going on with this LEGO creation by Markus Rollbühler. Look how happy that little minifigure feller is; just throwing out that phone like he hasn’t a care in the world! He’s about to go do something totally analog, I can tell. Maybe he’ll fly a kite, pet a dog, listen to some records or even…build some LEGO. Can you name all the websites he has just said goodbye to?

TBB Cover Photo for September 2021: A sense of peace and tranquillity

There is something special about a scene that not only tells a story but triggers your imagination to see the entire world beyond what you are looking at. Heavily understated and humbly set, this scene is masterfully staged by builder W. Navarre.

Once your mind recalls that you are looking at a LEGO creation, you will feel the need to explore further and look deeper. This is when you will notice the technicality that is cloaked by the emotional connection to the scene. The bridge that draws your focus is indeed one amazing build on its own. With parts facing in just about every angle on the protractor and the clever placement of the slopes aids the design, ensuring a great visual aesthetic to the bridge. The technical candy does not stop there! For those hungry for more, your eyes soon move beyond the bridge and over the fields… then onto the mountain range in the background. It is here that you see more creative usage of curved slope pieces to help form the chiselled yet visually pleasing features of the distant mountains. The colour choices only build this further creating a clever and realistic sense of depth.

Although The Brothers Brick has always been committed to diversity and inclusion in both the LEGO builders we feature and our own team members, ranging from the builders in Asia that we specifically featured on Pan-Pacific Bricks or our longstanding commitment to including LGBTQ+ staff on our team, we know that we can do better. During our interview with Ekow Nimako last month, we recommitted to ensuring that our own team better represents the real diversity of the LEGO community we’re a part of. The specific roles we’re looking to fill from members of the community are Contributor (Writer) and Social Media Manager.

LEGO provides instructions for your daily life activities [Feature]

We all know that LEGO has a knack for providing instructions for complex and amazing builds, and it’s only inevitable that they branch out in a new direction. It’s high time for LEGO to include instructions for our daily life activities. Over the past couple of weeks, the LEGO social media team has been releasing these life instruction guides that depict everyday activities, especially things that we can relate to over the period of time where the world is keeping many of us indoors.

While it’s pointless for us to describe (or dare I say, review?) as these instruction guides are self-sufficient — just like the real LEGO instruction books, which don’t have any words — we’re just going to do it, because they’re so good.

Use it launch some Facebook likes into the world and maybe some of those good vibes will come back to you in the form of likes on pictures of your LEGO models. Simply load a like into the launcher to fire it at what pleases you. You can utilize it in one of two ways: Trajectory Mode or Direct Fire mode. I know when I like something, my favourite way to let you know is to shoot a thumbs up, right in your face. And now you can too! But don’t take my word for it, check out on video.

TBB cover photo for October 2019: Entering Aquila

This month’s cover image across TBB’s social media comes to us from W. Navarre, who together with three other builders crafted a series of exquisite scenes from the 1985 film Ladyhawke. We covered all four scenes this summer, but we were so drawn to this beautiful portrait of the middle eastern city of Aquila that we just had to pick it. Everywhere you look the buildings employ ingenious patterns of bricks, making this feel like a vibrant, wealthy merchant town.

For this month’s July cover photo for The Brothers Brick’s social media channels, we’re celebrating the newest wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets, which are available starting today in North America. We were amazed with this incredible version of Hogwarts castle by Hyungmin Park. Lit with hundreds of LEDs, the model is photographed so beautifully we could almost believe it was from the movies. Speaking of which, since we got a LEGO Batman Movie, a LEGO Harry Potter Movie would be incredible. (Psst, Warner Bros, are you listening?)
