The Harry Potter 75978 Diagon Alley is one that we predict will be a favourite for the month and also includes the highly anticipated 75292 The Razor Crest that was first revealed back in February. The Advent Calendar sets for Star Wars, City and Friends are available. This is a good time to grab them, if you want to prepare early for Christmas, especially since the Advent Calendars tend to sell out early.

Today, LEGO reveals the next Harry Potter exclusive set, 75978 Diagon Alley. The new version of the iconic shopping venue consists of four buildings and includes 5,544 pieces, which makes it the 5th biggest LEGO set released so far. The models are accompanied by 14 minifigures, including two characters that have never appeared in any other LEGO Harry Potter set. The set will retail for US $399.99 | 399.99EUR | UK £369.99 beginning September 1st.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71028 Harry Potter Series 2 [Review]

The Harry Potter franchise has become one of LEGO’s most popular and enduring themes, having given fans numerous iterations of most of their favorite characters since the line’s first wave back in 2001. In 2018 LEGO pointed their wildly successful Minifigures line at the Wizarding World, introducing a biggest-ever set of 22 characters from Harry Potter as well as from Fantastic Beasts in anticipation of the second film’s release with 71022 Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts Minifigures. Now LEGO is returning with another wave, though this one is focused entirely on the classic Harry Potter series. Featuring the traditional 16 unique figures in blind bags, LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71028 Harry Potter Series 2 are available starting Sept. 1 for US $4.99 | CAN $4.99 | UK £3.49. Despite nearly 20 years of LEGO Harry Potter sets, Series 2 manages to include five characters who have never before appeared in LEGO form, along with plenty of new character designs and a nice selection of new elements.

The new LEGO 71028 Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 revealed [News]

LEGO has just revealed the 2nd series of Collectible Minifigures for one of the most popular franchises on the planet, Harry Potter. With 16 figures to collect, it will be available come September. The Characters featured are, James Potter, Ginny Weasley, Griphook, Albus Dumbledore, Moaning Myrtle, Ron Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange, Lily Potter, Professor Pomona Sprout, Neville Longbottom, George Weasley, Hermione Granger, Fred Weasley, Harry Potter, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Luna Lovegood

The Hogwarts Express has been Reducio’ed

At first glance, I thought this was just another lovely LEGO microscale train. I do love a good micro-train, being a seasoned microscale builder myself. But taking a closer look at the lower-left area of this delightful creation by brickleas, what do my eyes behold, but a tiny flying Ford Anglia nearly splatting the ground, which would have put a rather inglorious ending to our heroes. The rocky landscape is well crafted, and the minimal parts used for each passenger car is impressive, but my favorite detail is the lever handles used as both the main driving wheels and the spokes that drive them.

I am Whomping Willow!

One of the most popular movie quotes (and memes) of the past couple years is, “I am Groot!” The lovable Marvel character found his way into our hearts with his unique personality and this singular repeated phrase. Always the kind to help out a friend, and certainly a brethren, it’s only natural for him to lend himself to a fellow famous tree. Builder Letranger Absurde has expertly crafted a microscale Whomping Willow using a LEGO Groot bust as the trunk. Topped with an adorable Ford Anglia, it’s a perfect representation.

Great minds must think alike, because as wonderful as this is, it’s not the first Groot-trunk. Back in 2017, our contributor, Benjamin Stenlund (Henjin_Quilones) used the same piece on his “South Gate of Lleidr Castle” build.

LEGO BrickHeadz 40412 Hagrid and Buckbeak from Harry Potter revealed [News]

Thanks to a Hungarian toy retailer Kockashop we get an early reveal of the latest Harry Potter 40412 Hagrid and Buckbeak BrickHeadz showcasing a dual-pack featuring Hagrid and Buckbeak. The set consists of 270 pieces, and while no official price has been revealed, based on previous dual pack issues, it will likely retail for $19.99 US and $24.99 CAN.

August has arrived and that means new LEGO sets! LEGO has launched 108 new sets and items available today. In addition to new sets like the Nintendo NES and Super Mario lineup, Ideas Grand Piano, Star Wars 501st Battle Pack and LEGO Art, fans in the US and Canada can finally celebrate the summer arrival of Harry Potter, Creator 3-in-1, City, and Ninjago waves that you’ve waited so patiently for. Nearly every LEGO theme has some new sets–it can be a lot to process!– so we have your complete guide right here detailing each and every new set and item. [EDIT: It appears that LEGO may have delayed the US & Canada release of some of these sets until September. We’ve asked for clarification.]

LEGO Harry Potter 2020 Advent Calendar revealed [News]

Swiss toy retailer Meinspielzeug.ch has just shared official pictures of the upcoming Harry Potter 2020 Advent Calendar set. As usual, the set consists of 24 mini-builds and includes 355 pieces and 6 minifigures. The set will be available starting September 1. Detailed pictures of the set are right behind the link to this post, so be careful not to spoil the surprise!

Aragog, the king of arachnids

In my opinion, one of the most terrifyingly fantastic beasts in the Harry Potter series was found in Aragog. Although he was friendly to Harry and his friends, he was still a giant spider and that’s just all sorts of freaky. LEGO builder CheeseyStudios brings us a small vignette of the entrance to Aragog’s lair, making me wish any of the several official LEGO sets had looked half this good. The massive toppled tree has the heft it should, with lighter color wood exposed where it cracked. And Aragog himself feels more spindly and spider-like than his official counterparts, But the best detail, in my opinion, is the little mushrooms sprouted from the log. They’re a simple design combining a radar dish and a beveled gear, but together they make the smooth top and fluted undersides perfectly. Combined with a black sausage for a curving stem, and you couldn’t ask for a better LEGO fungus.

“Oh, and keep an eye on the staircases. They like to change...”

While the Harry Potter books speak of the staircases changing, they don’t exactly explain how. Magic, obviously, but in what way is not entirely specified. It’s a little bit of interpretation and movie magic that created the incredible swiveling staircases that Percy Weasley refers to in the first film. I would guess that building one as a set prop was challenging. But it could very well be possible that this LEGO version, built by Sebeus I was just as difficult to engineer. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary build, but a turn of the crank brings the diorama to life.

We’ve been teased with a video of how the staircase shifts 90 degrees (made into a sped-up GIF below), but I’m dying to see the internal mechanics! It’s one thing to build a revolving platform. But to make the banisters change brings a whole new level of complexity!
