Every dinosaur is awesome!
Ever since the new Everyone is Awesome LEGO set celebrating Pride was revealed, there have been a number of LEGO creations hitting the internet inspired by this very colorful set. As a fan of BrickHeadz and the Jurassic World set featuring the aptly named “blue”, I had to jump on this rainbow of velociraptors by Kristel, a wonderful line-up that celebrates dinosaurs everywhere in all their colors.
Adidas Originals LEGO Superstar Sneaker to accompany LEGO 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar [News]
Along with the recent announcement of the LEGO 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar set, there was also an announcement for the wearable version of the same sneakers. A quick change of the order of the words, and the buildable LEGO sneaker becomes a wearable LEGO sneaker.
A study worth studying
One of my guilty pleasures is spending too much time on Zillow. I’m not really looking to buy a home, I’m just curious about what they look like inside. But if I was browsing the site and saw anything as modern and cozy as this build by Grant Davis, I might start trying to convince my wife we need to move. The modern stairway grabs your immediate attention, but there’s so much here to love, from the beautiful bay window to the hardwood floors (look closely, they’re not just long tiles). And that steamboat on the top shelf cleverly uses sideways radiator grilles for its windows. I hope the steamboat comes with the house, because I’m ready to make an offer on this place.
LEGO Ideas 21327 Typewriter – Writing an old-school love letter [Review]
There’s just something extra classy about an old manual typewriter. Maybe it’s the retro styling, or the mechanical aspects, or maybe it’s just pure nostalgia. Whatever the case, the latest LEGO Ideas set (#35 in the series) offers fans a way to add a swanky 1:1 replica to their collection. The 2079 piece 21327 Typewriter will be available June 16th for VIP members, with general availability starting July 1st from the LEGO Shop Online for US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £179.99. But can a LEGO version be as cool as an actual vintage collectible? And what if you don’t care about typewriters at all? Is there anything here to tempt you? Well, don’t write it off just yet. Come along as we take a close look at this upcoming set!

This 731-piece brick-built replica of the iconic Adidas shoe ships in unique packaging, and will be available from July 1 for US $79.99 | CAN $109.99 | UK £79.99. LEGO 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar [Review]
We first learned about the collaboration between LEGO and Adidas last September when the teaser appeared on social media. Recalling some of the previous LEGO Wear products, the fans rightfully expected nothing more than several pairs of LEGO-themed running shoes in Adidas stores. Although the actual Adidas ZX 8000 sneakers were an instant hit, hardly could we see what the collaboration may bring in the future. As it turns out, LEGO designers saw a unique opportunity to take the partnership to the next level, building an Adidas Superstar sneaker with LEGO bricks. This way comes 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, a 731-piece model of the most iconic Adidas shoe. The set will be available from July 1 for US $79.99 | CAN $109.99 | UK £79.99. And it’s so much more than just a building set: to understand better what actually this product is, we talked to Florian Müller, Senior Designer, who took the idea from the concept to the actual model in the box.

In space, no one can hear babies cry
This LEGO spaceship creation from Jake Hansen is another entry in the Iron Builder Contest, this time having to use the Crane Grab Jaw LEGO piece. The piece is used well as reclining seats on the spaceship bridge, which is populated by four babies. The black hoses are a nice touch, reminding me of the early LEGO space sets, and the choice of orange and blue accents lighten the scene up without overpowering it. What appears to be a flux capacitor on the left side of the console is a nice touch. I’m curious what the mouse on the lower right is up to; maybe it’s cutting through the power coupling?
1-upping my childhood memories
When I was a kid, the closest I ever got to a real arcade was the game room in the back of the local bowling alley. Dirty carpet, a change machine that wouldn’t accept my crinkled dollar bills, and neon beer signs illuminating the TMNT machine that I could never get a turn at. I always imagined that somewhere there were kids living it up in a real video game paradise, and Brick Grayson has brought that paradise to life. Just looking at it, you can hear the cacophony of music and laser fire and cries of “hadouken!” that must echo through the place. The choice of colors does a great job of implying neon without there being any actual lights. And I particularly like the Pac-Man and Ghosts on the side of the building made mostly from sausages. If I could just get inside, I bet I could finally take a turn as Raphael.
Leaving LEGO Masters S2: We sit down with the first team to leave [Feature]
The second episode of LEGO Masters Season 2 has aired. While we were spared an elimination in the first episode, this time around, two teams were on the chopping block with one eventually heading home. I can tell you from personal experience that elimination days were always the hardest and this one was no exception.
We sat down for a talk with the first team to leave this season along with our friends from Brickset, BZPower and True North Bricks. We chatted about superpowers, creativity, explosions and the importance of family.
Read on, but beware… Spoilers lie ahead!
I’m hooked on this captain
Captain Hook earned his famous moniker thanks to that trademark replacement appendage of his. And, no doubt, if you were to encounter the villainous pirate in real life, that hook would be hard to ignore. But in LEGO form, the hook proves to be the captain’s least interesting feature. Ivan Martynov has crafted a charming rendition of Peter Pan’s archenemy with plenty of details and techniques worthy of study. From the pirate hat made using hot air balloon shells, to the impressive flowing coat, it’s hard to worry very much about the hook. Maybe he should change his name to highlight a more impressive feature. Captain Coat? Captain Ascot? Captain That-Little-Beach-Diorama-He’s-Standing-On?
