The fourth episode of LEGO Masters Season 2 has aired. A new episode means another winning build and unfortunately, another team elimination. Each week, we’ll be meeting these teams as they continue on their LEGO journey with the show behind them.

We sat down for a talk with the third team to leave this season along with our friends from Brickset, BZPower and True North Bricks. We chatted about engineering, building relationships, building on memories and the art of playing well

Fan designed set now is made into reality with the LEGO Ideas 21328 Seinfeld unveiled [News]

LEGO just announced the newest Ideas set, 21328 Seinfeld. Based on the popular sitcom from the 90s, Seinfeld, the set features Jerry’s apartment along with the main characters from the show; Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Cosmo Kramer, Elaine Benes and Newman. The set is built like a stage, very much like the LEGO Ideas Friends Central Perk and LEGO Creator Expert Friends The Apartments, and measures 32 cm (12.6 in) wide, 18 cm (7 in) long and 13 cm (5.1 in) high with 1,326 pieces.

TBB Cover Photo for July 2021: Broken Peace

It doesn’t matter how many martial arts-based fantasy films you may have seen… or how deep your understanding is of the deep worlds within the stories of speedy fight scenes, this build by Markus Rollbühler brings a new dimension to the iconic fight scenes we all instantly recognise with LEGO bricks.

From the illusion of flowing costumes through to the dynamic poses, we are all sitting on the edge of our seats, awaiting the infamous “KLANG” of the weapons colliding in the mid-air showdown. And to add to this technical build, once your eyes have absorbed and comprehended the central figures, you will find yourself looking deeper. It is then at this time that you will begin to notice the background. The intricate details of embellishment that have gone into each wall, table and window piece. Take a step back from this moment in time and sit on the edge of your seat once more… preparing for the battle that is about to explode. Lucky for us, Markus has ensured that this build has it all immortalised in this frozen dynamic scene of pure beauty, energy and storytelling.

This cat will leave more than just a scratch

This ferocious feline comes from the talented builder, DanielBrickSon. The beast is named “Meara the Metalworks Tiger” and has fought through the first round of the Biocup competition, allowing its creator to proceed to the next stage. The hulking form of the tiger is made up of a great variety of Bionicle pieces, all applied to create beautiful shaping throughout the model. In order to portray the twisting spine of the build, DanielBrickSon has used Barraki crossbow pieces as their rubbery texture allows them to bend.

Rare armoured mask parts are used to form the tense shoulders and areas of the upper back legs. The model is reminiscent of Battle Cat from He-Man, if the cat went fully armoured. There’s also a 360 spin so that you can gaze upon all of the model’s glorious details.

This cat’s really out of the bag

Recently we featured a group of spaceships that were born out of the Spacegoose Collab. And, yes, they were all amazing creations. But I love me some bonus builds, and Tom Loftus (Inthert) provides a stellar one with Space Cat. Described as “something of an encore”, this little feline is a perfect blend of fantasy and cat-attributes. Cat owners know how even the most upscale bedding is shunned by cats in favor of cardboard boxes, and this preference apparently extends to their choice of jumpship. And sure, that upcycled box is cute, and the almost-legal connection of clipped together quarter circle tile is ingenious. But look at that expression. Never before have Mixel eye prints captured the insanity of a frenzied midnight tear through the universe quite so well.

Take your seat on this enormous LEGO Emirates Airbus A380 that took more than ten months to design

The LEGO airplane builds from Jack Carleson keep getting bigger and bigger. While his previous Air Force One had a wingspan of five-and-a-half feet, the new Emirates A380 is seven-foot wide and weighs almost 100 pounds with no external supports. It’s massive and has a lot of great details, which we will get to below.

Carrot Top, Idol of millions

Idols are meant to inspire, but all too often they’re shown after centuries of wear and neglect, stripped down to the wood or stone that serves as their core. But Markus Rollbühler shows us a totem in full splendor in Jungle Idol. The bright colors are all sourced from uncommon parts like red paddle-ends and wakeboards, blue wrenches, and, yes, a halo of carrots. There’s also a splash of teal in the central disc and arms that makes me grin.

Markus notes that Emil Lidé came up with the technique for the palm trees – a gracious touch that speaks to how the LEGO community can inspire each other, even at the highest levels.

The Knight Industries Two Thousand

The TV show “Knight Rider” sold itself as “a shadowy flight into a dangerous world of a man who does not exist.” But, when it comes to LEGO, Knight Rider has been a frustrating struggle to cope with a car that does not exist. Because we got the man instead — a minifigure of Michael Knight was released as part of the LEGO Dimensions game in 2017. But Michael’s famous talking car, K.I.T.T.? We don’t have an official minifig-compatible one of those. Thankfully Jerry Builds Bricks has come to the rescue – again. Because this isn’t Jerry’s first KITT. But it is an all-new 8-stud-wide model, making use of the newer Speed Champions windscreen, and it perfectly captures the sleek awesomeness of the 80s Firebird Trans Am. Man, remember when a self-driving car was such a crazy notion you could build a prime-time TV show around the idea?

Always take some precautions when playing around with hypermatter

Fans of the Classic Space LEGO theme may be quite familiar with the prolific builder, Tim Goddard. Known for challenging the limits of the LEGO system and showing us the possibilities, he’s given us another great build to appreciate. This new ship, Dragons Progress, utilizes unique pieces combined in a pleasing and simple color palette for tons of detail and greeble. From the nose to the pointy bits protecting us all from the hypermatter static build-up of the experimental engines, this ship has a wonderful form that breaks the mold of the Classic Space theme.

What’s behind the door in this fantasy LEGO build?

This LEGO creation from Joe (jnj_bricks) was created for the Summer Joust 2021 contest, and it’s wonderfully moody. There are plenty of unique parts used here (see if you can spot the shark head), and the lighting is top-notch. The highlight of the build to me is the brickwork on the wall; it helps tell a story about this building and a lot of work clearly went into it. Another aspect that works really well is allowing the viewer to fill in the rest of the room by having it focused on the door and not having everything self-contained.

This Adidas Originals AT-AT was pretty much a shoo-in feature

You may have heard that The LEGO Group came out with the official Adidas Originals Superstar set. Well, it was only a matter of time before someone built their own creations inspired by the iconic sneaker. Henry Gouw answered the call of duty and is a comfy fit for the kind of stuff we like around here. Here we see the Adidas Superstar is a perfect shoo-in for the body of the AT-AT Walker from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. This is certainly keeping in step with the icons represented in both franchises. So why would we pass up a feature in which the puns just write themselves? We don’t! You’re welcome.
