LEGO 10297 Boutique Hotel officially unveiled as the latest addition to the Modular Buildings Collection [News]

LEGO has revealed a Boutique Hotel as the 17th Modular building in the highly popular theme. Celebrating 15 years of modular buildings in 2022, the latest addition will feature easter eggs from the very first release to last year’s 10278 Police Station for LEGO fans to discover and enjoy the hidden gems. The 10297 LEGO Boutique Hotel comes with 3,066 pieces will be available on the 1st of January 2022. It will retail for US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £179.99.

The modular is made up of five sections featuring a lobby and art gallery on the ground floor, a reception terrace, hotel rooms on the first floor, and penthouse suite on the second floor and a decorative dome on the roof. With 3066 pieces to make up the build and details, this new modular dethrones last year’s Police Station (2,923 pieces) as the modular with the second-highest piece count after the 10255 Assembly Square at 4,002 pieces.

Designed as a corner section of the street, and the three storeys are visually sectioned with their own distinct colour theme and decor.

The hotel has a connected Fine Art gallery to cater for its visiting travellers to spend their hard-earned money on exquisite Cubist artworks. A coffee pushcart adds more life to the scene.

The first floor includes an external staircase leading to the terrace on the second level. The interior features a reception and another staircase leading to the second floor.

The terrace is built above the Fine Art gallery and has room for guests to enjoy a drink or two and enjoy the view of the foot traffic from an elevated point of view.

The modular breaks away from the typical mold of having square-shaped rooms for the second and third floors which will provide some interesting build techniques. The second floor features the hotel rooms with the corner room having a door leading to a private terrace facing the street.

The third storey features a penthouse featuring all the comforts that a well-to-do minifigure could desire.

The rooftop features intricate detailing at the perimeter a grand dome as part of the building exterior design theme and a skylight for the penthouse residents to enjoy.

The set comes with seven Minifigures including travellers and tourists, two bellhops and a barista, a gallery owner.

The LEGO Boutique Hotel modular will be available for purchase starting January 1, 2022. The full press release from LEGO as well as an expanded photo gallery is included below.

The LEGO Group Celebrates 15 years of Modular Building with the new LEGO® Boutique Hotel Set

30th November 2021: Today, the LEGO Group reveals a luxurious new address with the LEGO® Boutique Hotel set (10297), the latest addition to the modular building collection. Colourful and quirky, the new 3,066 piece LEGO Boutique Hotel is full of character and details that will have fans stepping back in time to a by-gone era.

In 2022, the LEGO modular building collection celebrates its 15th anniversary and the new set is the 17th LEGO set to be released, joining the LEGO Bookshop, LEGO Assembly Square and LEGO Police Station. The LEGO Boutique Hotel is also full of Easter Eggs and references to the previous 15 years of modular building sets, many of which are revealed in the building instructions, meaning fans will have an exciting time discovering hidden gems while they build.

The set comes in five sections, including;
• The ground floor, featuring the lobby and an art gallery;
• The terrace, with art gallery reception and palm tree;
• The first floor, with hotel rooms;
• The second floor, with a penthouse suite;
• The roof, with a decorative dome

Each hotel room features distinct styles of furniture and requires varied building techniques, whilst the art gallery features several tributes to Cubist art. The set also features a unique angled shape, which requires some unusual LEGO geometry, providing a new modular building experience for collectors.

Anderson Grubb, LEGO Set Designer commented, “It was really exciting to be working on the LEGO Boutique Hotel and to have the opportunity to design this in celebration of 15 years of the collection. When we approach the design for a modular building we are conscious of the previous sets and therefore want to create something that is new, that really compliments the collection. I am really happy with the final design, the variety of intriguing building techniques and all the nods to the previous Modular buildings.”

The LEGO Boutique Hotel set is available from LEGO Stores and www.LEGO.com/Boutique-Hotel from 1st January, 2022 at the recommended retail price of €199.99 / $199.99 / £179.99
