Renault is celebrating 40 years of its Formula One racing team with unique LEGO Certified sets [News]

The 2017 Formula One World Championship has just finished last weekend with a spectacular Abu Dhabi gran-prix. Even though the Renault F1 Team ended up in sixth place in the Constructors’ Cup, the car manufacturer is celebrating 40 years of competing in Formula One. There’s no better way to celebrate such an event than with a dedicated line-up of LEGO sets—not regular sets, but special ones developed exclusively for Renault under the LEGO Certified Professional license.

Designed with a single purpose – to destroy Imperial ships

Inthert has put his talent for building outstanding copies of Star Wars spacecrafts to good use with another brilliant model to help the rebels fight the Imperial forces. As the builder comments his own creation, the biggest challenge during the work on this B-wing was the problem with proportions; it’s so easy to ruin the build with just one extra plate or a tile. Fortunately, the result is beyond any compliments.

An airplane might disappoint any pilot but it’ll never surprise a good one

Even though brick-built airplanes cannot fly yet, designing a cool LEGO aircraft is no easier than engineering a real one. Wesley reveals a wonderfully looking copy of Albatros D.III biplane fighter, which was used by the Imperial German Army during World War I. Its design seems very simple and straightforward, but, no doubt, capturing all the proportions correctly is quite a challenge considering the scale of the build. And, of course, the picture itself is a very sweet example of a proper presentation!

Don’t let this guy dangle a carrot in front of you!

Blogging the best LEGO creations is all about trying to explain the idea behind an awesome build. But sometimes we’re helpless, especially when even the author can’t construe their work. Chris McVeigh, who is a genius when it comes to aesthetics of creations, shares a carrot mech that is so bizarre, even Chris can’t explain its purpose. Unfortunately, there isn’t much we can do, but to admire its bright and ludicrous design.

From old Hotel Mirabeau down to Portier

According to any fan of motor racing series, there are exactly 18 sights in a tiny city-state of Monaco. Of course, these are 18 iconic turns of the Monaco Gran Prix circuit, each is unique and has its own character. Building the whole track with LEGO bricks would be quite an ambitious task, but Simon Pickard absolutely nails, probably, the most beautiful of them — the famous Grand Hotel Hairpin.

Actually, the Grand Hotel Hairpin is the slowest turn in the whole Formula 1 calendar, which is taken by modern cars at approximately 40 mph/65 kph. The way Simon recreated the road surface with hundreds and hundreds of tiles keeping the road markings and the curbs is especially noteworthy, not to mention a pretty couple of racing cars from different motor sport epochs.

The next wave of LEGO Batman Movie sets revealed [News]

If you ever worried your favourite LEGO Batman Movie villain wasn’t chosen to become an official plastic minifigure included in a set, have a look at the newly revealed 2018 Batman Movie wave. Four news sets bring us five more of Batman enemies along with some mind-blowing Batman vehicles like an adorable Bat-Kayak. Sets will hit store shelves in January 2018, however the piece count and the prices are yet to be announced.

21037 LEGO House [Review]

Every child knows how easy it is to build a house with LEGO bricks. It’s almost impossible to build a bad-looking one. And the concept of “house” is pretty universal: 4 walls, a door, a window, and a roof — any form, any type and any materials you want. But what happens when you build a house based on an actual building that was originally designed to look like it was built with LEGO bricks? This mind-boggling concept hides behind the most unique LEGO Architecture set to date — 21097 LEGO House. Like other Architecture sets, this model is based on a real building, but this time it’s the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark that opened in September 2017. The set is only available at the LEGO House gift shop for 449 DKK (~$70 USD).

The box art shows off the model and its wonderful colours. The back displays the main feature — a removable second floor revealing the House’s spacious interior. This is a rare play feature amongst the relatively small Architecture models.
