Even if you’re not an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo gamer yourself, and even if you’ve never played one of the many LEGO games, it’s hard not to appreciate the strange and stunning LEGO creations inspired by video games. Look for lots of LEGO models inspired by Halo, the Legend of Zelda, Gears of War, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, and more. Game on!

Do u kno da wey

The Budas Brick’s own Iain Heath obviously seems to kno da wey, while simultaneously eating Tide pods and inapropriately reacting to a serious topic. If you are not sure what I am talking about, Iain has built a mashup of some of the dankest memes of January 2018. Agree with it or not, dank memes are the humour of the present day.

Month of memes: January 2017

Iain is known for his excellent character builds and always keeping up to date with the hottest trends – from popular media to memes. The Ugandan Knuckles figure is as close to a low-resolution 3D model as a LEGO build can be and the hat is instantly recognizable as well. While the Tide pods are built only out of a few pieces each, they are very obvious when seen accompanied by other January 2018 memes. Now that February has started though, the former memes are officially stale. And now, it is time for CPP memes to take over the internet!

Join the TT Games team as a LEGO Model Designer and play with LEGO and video games for a living [News]

Over the years, our friends at TT Games have asked us to help them find the best LEGO talent in the world. Based on the job postings we’ve shared, the company has hired several LEGO builders, including Carl Greatrix and the Arvo Brothers, who now design the models in the company’s video games. If you’d like your own shot at building with LEGO for a living, from gameplay puzzles to vehicles and buildings, this is your opportunity to work with the design team in TT Games’ UK office.

While the final product of your work will be digital, you’ll get to work on unique properties like Marvel and DC Super Hero games. This LEGO version of GLaDOS from Portal is a great example of the fantastic designs that LEGO Model Designers at TT Games produce.

Be the last man standing with a LEGO Fortnite Tactical Shotgun [Video]

ZaziNombies LEGO Creations expands his arsenal of LEGO gaming weaponry into the massive multiplayer battle royale genre with a replica of the Tactical Shotgun from Fortnite. The chunky style and bold colors of the game were captured well. I especially like the upper handguard area and the screen mounted on the left side. Watch ZaziNombies demonstrate the sliding pump action and compare it to the in-game model in this video.

Equip the functional LEGO Horizon: Zero Dawn Sharpshot Bow

The critically acclaimed PlayStation title Horizon: Zero Dawn continues to inspire fantastic LEGO builds, such as a life-size replica of the Sharpshot Bow built by Peter Mowry. His prop goes beyond beautiful tribal embellishments and impressive scale, though. The bow can fire a live arrow, which is accomplished with a sturdy Technic framework and real bow string.

LEGO Proto Man, Mega Man’s cooler older brother

Proto Man is the anti-hero brother to Mega Man in the classic Mega Man series, rocking a red helmet with shades, scarf, and an arm cannon of his own. Bruce Lowell uses slick shaping to capture the cartoony vibe of characters in the Mega Man series with his LEGO Proto Man figure. Shaping on the bulky red armor components in particular is done excellently and contrasts well with his gray body suit.

A fireteam needs a Guardian to lead the pack

Destiny 2’s equal parts science fiction and fantasy allowed its artists to imagine some unique designs for its exotic gear. One such design is the sidearm Rat King, which has a relief of a pack of rats on the slide and a rat skull surrounding the hammer. Bryce Dempsey replicated this exotic pistol in LEGO, creating its slide and grip texture without sacrificing function.

Bryce’s Rat King features a moving slide, spring-loaded trigger, and removable magazine, all demonstrated in this video.

43-inch LEGO Destiny 2 D.A.R.C.I. knows so very well

Bungie must have had some fascination with sassy robots when creating Destiny 2. Your Ghost companion, the hunter Cayde-6 (voiced by the great Nathan Fillion), and Exodus Black’s AI “Failsafe” always have something witty to say. Even the sniper rifle D.A.R.C.I. has some shade for actions such as quitting multiplayer when your team is losing. The lore for D.A.R.C.I., as well as its interesting, blocky aesthetic and teal tubing inspired my latest LEGO replica.

D.A.R.C.I. - Destiny 2

The build measures over 43 inches long and weighs 9 pounds. It took almost three months to build, but this was due to building every other Saturday, when I would be home from school. For a while, I wanted to build a LEGO prop that utilizes teal elements. As most of the rifle is black, gray, and white, the teal and dark azure details really popped, as does the green scope screen. Despite the LEGO-like look to D.A.R.C.I., its build proved difficult in even spacing of its rectangular details throughout.

See its moving trigger, sliding charging handle, and removable magazine in action, as well as some D.A.R.C.I. gameplay for those unfamiliar with the game, in this video.

LEGO Horizon: Zero Dawn Corruptor war machine

Marius Herrmann shows his mastery in constructing machinery from video games with this Corruptor from Horizon: Zero Dawn. His intricate use of Bionicle pieces, minifigure utensils, and string throughout add to the intimidating appearance. However, it’s the techniques to create the tail claw that is most outstanding to me.

Build your own LEGO Yoshi, Baby Mario & Yoshi Eggs [Instructions]

Yoshi is a fictional dinosaur who first appeared in Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as Mario and Luigi’s sidekick.  In the game, Yoshi can grab objects with his tongue, swallow the object  and then produce a distinctive spotted egg to throw.  Well thanks to Mr Kevin Hinkle, you can now build your own LEGO Yoshi, complete with Yoshi eggs and Baby Mario.

Show me your moves

Captain Falcon is a Nintendo icon, whether one recognizes him as the flagship character of the F-Zero racing games or as the over-expressive fighter in Super Smash Bros. Logey Bear shows us their moves with the brick, creating a LEGO Captain Falcon figure full of his ridiculous charm. A great combination of Bionicle, system, and even Duplo and Scala parts bring this fit, fast fighter to life.

Not even death can save you from me!

Video games are a constant inspiration for LEGO builders, as they are sometimes for me. I do try to avoid pop-cultural inspiration in my builds, striving to keep them as unique and imaginative as possible. But for a game that has been with me for about half my life, Diablo 2, an exception could be made. The build is a somewhat loose recreation of the titular final boss, Diablo – the Lord of Terror. The reason for this looseness of recreation is timing, more about which can be read by clicking on the picture, whose description has said information.

Diablo, Lord of Terror

I am quite proud of the muscular torso design (let us not speak of the back) and the legs look good on some photos in my opinion, but the arms kind of need a rework, which would be done if time permitted so. I wish there were more pieces in dark red (and that I would own them!) so that I could have done a more gradual transition from black to red, because the current situation makes it nearly impossible to photograph, with black claws, horns and spikes standing out so much, that they get mixed up in pictures.

UNSC HRUNTING Mark III “Cyclops” exoskeleton from Halo Wars

The “Cyclops” mech appears in the Halo Wars real-time strategy games, reproduced in excellent LEGO form by ZiO Chao. While it may appear rather tiny in the game, seeing it at minifig-scale helps emphasize what a big stompy thing it really is. With an overall dark gray or olive-drab color scheme like most UNSC vehicles, I particularly like the pop of color from the yellow cockpit canopy. ZiO’s build features custom-printed tiles for the UNSC logo and other details, and it’s fully poseable. Armed with a massive cannon on its arm, the Covenant better beware!
