Build your own LEGO Jehuty from Zone of the Enders [Instructions]

Prominent video game-inspired LEGO builder Marius Herrmann from Germany is back with another remarkable brick bot, this time in collaboration with developer/publisher Konami. Say hello to Jehuty, a mechanical Orbital Frame suit piloted by the protagonists of the Zone of the Enders video game saga.

There is an amazing amount of articulation to be found across multiple joints and accessories. Newer parts like the bar w/ round plate hollow stud make an appearance in the wingtips and hands, and some larger, sleek “constraction” pieces in key positions on the arms and inner thighs provide a nice contrast to the more piece-intensive torso and limbs.

LEGO GAT-X105 Strike Gundam with AQM/E-X04 Gunbarrel Striker

The LEGO Ideas Voltron set has made me nostalgic for all the Giant Robot TV shows I watched as a kid back in Japan, not least of which was the fantastic Gundam. Two Rabbits shares my love of all things big and stompy, and demonstrates that passion with a series of really excellent Mobile Suits, kitted out with extra gear like the AQM/E-X04 Gunbarrel Striker pack with Strike Gundam from the SEED series. Beyond the rocket engines and weapons pods, the highly detailed frame itself is worth a closer look, with great shaping on the legs and torso, topped with the iconic Gundam head.

From the Wing series, the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero features gorgeous angel wings and completely different detail on the mecha frame.

A tiny robot – loved by good, feared by evil

Can’t afford the enormous new 21311 LEGO Voltron set, but still have a universe to defend? Try Victor‘s solution — build a microscale version of your own. The colours and shaping are spot-on, making this little model immediately recognisable. I particularly like the mech’s head and that shield. And whilst this version might not come apart into its constituent lion components, it’s rather more poseable than the stiff-legged official set!

Green colossus can stand the heat

Is it getting hot in here? Or is it just the sizzle coming off this lovely green mech standing astride a stream of lava? Chris Perron is a designer at LEGO, and says he was inspired to create this model whilst working with the new yellowish-green parts found in the BrickHeadz Little Mermaid set. It’s nice to see LEGO designers continuing to “play” on their own time with the plastic bricks they work with every day! Even better when the results are as good as this. The striking colour scheme might capture first looks, but don’t miss the shaping of the face, the wrist-mounted sword, and the excellent rifle. And as for the colourful swirls within that stream of magma? Simply brilliant.

Stug mkIII, a mech for the mean streets

Singapore-based Benjamin Cheh Ming Hann is no stranger to The Brothers Brick, with a huge array of top-tier, futuristic mecha and starships to his name (oh, and bugs). His latest creation continues to wow us as he presents a meaty mech that is bristling with weaponry and optional armor. The Stug mkIII features a colorful blend of chunky slopes and joints that I found really exciting as someone who has struggled to complete substantial mech models in the past. I also appreciate the nearly studless look, which is typical for Benjamin. This model would fit right at home with his prior work KURA IAM model.

A nemesis worthy of the Midnight Ranger

Every good hero needs a villain, and this is even more true for mecha. Marco De Bon has built many mecha over the years, many of which we’ve featured on the Brothers Brick, including the Midnight Ranger, whose nemesis we see here, called the Renegade.

While it has all the bread and butter of mecha like chunky armored legs and rocket betteries in his shoulders, there is so much more to see. First thing that you might notice is the tentacle arms emerging from its back and the lime green area on the chest, which is just as likely to be an air intake or a death laser. My favourite part is its waist though – maybe it is my personal affinity for hoses, but the skeleton construction is just awesome.

Like a fish outta water

Mammals aren’t the only creatures that want to explore environments that are clearly designed to kill them, and this bold fish adventurer is going where no fish has gone before, with the help of a shiny brass mech suit. Built by Andrew Lee, this clawed fish suit is basically an exercise in using the available inventory of pearl gold elements, which is a pretty limited offering, pulling from Hero Factory, the few basic elements that are available, and a variety of minifigure accessories.

Drop in and set Frontier worlds ablaze

The fun, fast-paced action of Titanfall 2 multiplayer is what hooks me in, but with my latest LEGO Titan I wanted to show appreciation for its well crafted single player campaign. To make a Titan build unique to campaign styling, I chose to build Kane’s Scorch Titan, the first boss Jack Cooper and BT-7274 fight in the campaign. Kane was like a stereotypical multiplayer gamer: overconfident, calling his opponents “scrub,” and easily defeated.

Technology, uh, finds a way...

Sometimes to create an awesome new design you just have to skillfully mix a couple of the most trendy things. Anthony Wilson picked up dinosaurs and Nexo Knights, and the Tyrannosaurus Nex was born. Fast on foot, this monster has no mercy on the enemies of the Nexo kingdom. What I love the most about this creation is that it’s not just a dinosaur covered with laser guns, but an actual two-legged robot designed as a fierce animal.

The LEGO cargo hauling Shell-Walker from Horizon Zero Dawn

German LEGO builder Marius Herrmann has quite an expansive army of LEGO ancient machines from Horizon: Zero Dawn. His latest, the Shell-Walker, is one of his most detailed machines yet. I love the way he achieved the pattern on the hexagonal container as well as his use of orange roller skates for the shield-generator claw and subtle mechanical bits on the legs.

Marius’s Shell-Walker features an incredible range of motion, and the container on the back can be separated from the body.

A towering mech made out of towers

Inspired by Nexo Knights, LEGO 7 has built a mech worthy of a king. Now, there are official sets out there that explore the concepts of a mechanized fortress or the king’s personal battle mech, but LEGO 7 not only blows those two out of the water, but he also combines the two into a towering sight to deter any invaders, demonic or otherwise.

The astonishing photography, including the clean view basically without reflections, the slightly upward angle and a colour gradient complimenting said angle present the build at a whole new level. The build uses some bricks one would never expect to see together in a single creation, like the large castle building piece as the cockpit in the middle and constraction armour pieces as leg armour. My favourite part besides the photography is the axe the mech is named after. The translucent part and the electricity look so dynamic, and I can almost hear the FZZZZTT!! coming from it!

There has never been a better time to fear spiders

If you’re afraid of spiders, look away now, because Leonid An built a particularly nasty one! This evil-looking mech combines arachnid and humanoid motives as it combines system and Bionicle parts from a technical viewpoint.
