Oh Captain, my captain

LEGO mosaics are near and dear to my heart, as is the character of Captain America. Bluesecrets brings both together in a stunning creation featuring Cap in his bearded “Nomad” phase. This mosaic is 45 inches wide by 35 inches tall (about 114 x 89 centimeters) and is comprised of nearly 40,000 plates. Many brick mosaics use a “studs out” approach where the top of the brick is visible. In contrast, Bluesecrets uses a “studs up” technique where the plates are stacked on top of each other. This allows a higher level of detail in the image, but requires different (and, in my experience, trickier) craftsmanship as the “pixels” that make up the image are rectangular instead of square.

The new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers set brings fantastic minifigures of Hulk and Pepper Potts [News]

Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame is probably the biggest movie of the year. Although, a lineup of LEGO Marvel sets was released in April, the design team made an excellent job not spoiling any plot details. Now, once the whole world learned the outcome, LEGO has something to surprise us with. Pepper Potts in her Rescue armor, Black Widow and Infinity Gauntlet-wielding Hulk all come in 76144 Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop. The 482-piece LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame set hits store shelves November 25 and will retail at US $59.99.

Avengers, assemble!

With Avengers Endgame recently hitting theatres and climbing its way to being the highest grossing movie of all time, many fans have taken time to look back and appreciate the earlier films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For some, this comes in the form of re-watching the movies in order, but hachiroku24 was inspired to build the scene from the first Avengers movie where they all assembled for the first time.

Avengers, assemble! scene MOC

I’m a big fan of displaying minifigures grouped together how they appear in film. I’m always more impressed when they’re posed as they are on screen, and their environment is well-built. While this little vignette is beautiful just the way it is, the bridge is so well done I would like to see more of it. The structure looks quite sturdy, so I imagine it could be repeated as a full bridge, and I’m loving the simple-yet-elegant use of headlight bricks as the railing.

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl

The Levitating Over Land Automobile — better known as “Lola” — was made famous in our world through the TV Series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and even appeared in an official LEGO set, 76077 Iron Man: Detroit Steel Strikes. Having said that, this build by Eric Teo is the version that you’d really want to bring home for a test drive, with striking curves. The only similarity is the windscreen, which uses the cockpit bow, with the rest of the body remodeled to bring out the best shapes of the 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.

Attack of the Giant Man [Instructions]

If you’re a fan of the Marvel Superheroes theme, you might remember the only official Giant-Man LEGO figure was found in set 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle. It was built and designed to look like an upscaled minifigure, but the sharp angles made it feel a bit boxy. Personally, I prefer what hachiroku24 has done by using various parts typically found in LEGO’s constraction (buildable action) figures like the Elite Praetorian Guard. I think it gives the figure a more life-like appearance and, if you fancy it, you can build one of your own using this video instruction guide.

Assembled: The Battle of New York in LEGO bricks

The Battle of New York is the super-powered punch-up finale of 2012 movie The Avengers, which saw Asgardian trickster Loki attack the city with a borrowed army of bio-mechanical reptilian Chitauri soldiers. Such an epic confrontation might be an intimidating prospect for a LEGO model, but builder Ben Cossy has accepted the challenge, and this impressive diorama is the result. All the Avengers can be found amidst the city streets or on the rooftops, engaging the wall-scampering Chitauri and attempting to protect fleeing civilians and overwhelmed cops. Don’t miss the different styles of buildings on display, all featuring varying levels of battle damage alongside the architectural detailing.

Life-sized Thanos Infinity Gauntlet will make half your LEGO collection disappear

While the LEGO company works to find sustainable ways to produce their plastic products in a world with limited resources, Brickatecture knew there was only one way to save the world of LEGO — or at least, he was the only one with the will to act. He has gone to extreme measures and spent three months over the last year building a marvelous weapon. Judging by the Infinity Gauntlet’s size, it gives him the power to make at least half of his own LEGO collection disappear. Now it is perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

1-1 Scale Wearable LEGO Infinity Gauntlet

The build is quite accurate to the famous weapon from Avengers: Infinity War, as well as an amazing creation on its own. The shaping is very clean and bold using large polygons to construct the complex non-rectangular shapes while keeping it wearable, and the smaller curves of the palm and fingers are done using curved slopes at different angles.

And if you’re still not awed by its might, take note that Thanos’ glove weighs 4.2 lbs and contains more than 2,000 pieces. And it cost him… everything.

More LEGO sets from Avengers: Endgame revealed, including War Machine Buster & Ultimate Quinjet [News]

Hot on the heels of our announcement earlier today of the Iron Man Hall of Armour set, Amazon has revealed four more sets based on the upcoming Avengers: Endgame film. Unsurprisingly, the four additional sets focus on a variety of action sequences as the remaining superheroes battle Thanos and his Outrider minions. Given the film’s hotly anticipated April 26 release (now less than two months away), we’ll go ahead and throw out a potential spoiler warning for the contents.

As is often the case with early reveals like this, we don’t yet have word on the part counts, price, or exact release date, but you can expect that these will be hitting stores fairly soon — likely within the next month — along with a deluge of other merchandise to precede the mega-franchise finale. EDIT: The Avengers Endgame sets are now available from LEGO.

LEGO Avengers: Endgame 76125 Iron Man Hall of Armor set revealed [News]

Today, Amazon is giving us our first official look a new set from the upcoming Avengers: Endgame branded LEGO sets, and it seems to be pretty much spoiler-free for what’s bound to be one of the most anticipated films of the year. 76125 Iron Man Hall of Armor features a portion of Tony Stark’s workshop with displays for his various suits of armor, going all the way back to the Mk 1 with its bare metal and welded mask. Other suits include the Mk 5, Mk 41, Mk 50, and the huge Hulk Buster-like Mk 38. The set also includes two of Thanos’ Outriders.

There’s no word yet on other specific details for the set, such as the number of pieces, price, or release date. Avengers: Endgame will release in theaters April 26. Be sure to also check out the rest of Avengers: Endgame LEGO sets. EDIT: The set is now available from LEGO.
