Join the TT Games team as a LEGO Model Designer and play with LEGO and video games for a living [News]

Over the years, our friends at TT Games have asked us to help them find the best LEGO talent in the world. Based on the job postings we’ve shared, the company has hired several LEGO builders, including Carl Greatrix and the Arvo Brothers, who now design the models in the company’s video games. If you’d like your own shot at building with LEGO for a living, from gameplay puzzles to vehicles and buildings, this is your opportunity to work with the design team in TT Games’ UK office.

While the final product of your work will be digital, you’ll get to work on unique properties like Marvel and DC Super Hero games. This LEGO version of GLaDOS from Portal is a great example of the fantastic designs that LEGO Model Designers at TT Games produce.

LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 18 revealed [News]

The 18th series of LEGO Collectible Minifigures has been revealed, and we are in for a party. From cake to balloons and costumes galore, the 17 minifigures in the series are celebrating LEGO’s 60th anniversary this year. The series should be available for purchase in April, and will likely be another highly sought-after collection.

LEGO Ideas second 2017 review results may disappoint [News]

Over the past several months, the LEGO Review Board has been reviewing the 6 projects that reached 10,000 supporters between May and September 2017, the second review qualification period of 2017.

The second 2017 review included six builds : Luke’s Diner from the television series Gilmour Girls, The Wonders of Peru, NASA Saturn-V Launch Umbilical Tower, NASA Space Shuttle, NF-15B Research aircraft and Star Wars I am Your Father scene.

Unfortunately, LEGO Ideas have just announced that none of the 6 projects in review have been selected as the next LEGO Ideas set.

Hong Kong welcomes the Lunar New Year with a LEGO showcase event [News]

Hong Kong welcomes the Lunar Chinese New Year with their first LEGO event for 2018 at the New Town Plaza Shopping Mall, located in the town centre of Sha Tin.

The centre showpiece is a Chinese Lion Dance costume made of LEGO 150,000 bricks standing at over 5 ft. (1.6 meters tall) and over 6 ft. (2 meters) wide built by Andy Hung, LEGO Certified Professional (LCP) in the Greater China region and his team Legend Creative. Other builds include 2 Stone Guardian Dogs standing almost 3 ft tall and a ‘lucky mosaic’ 5 ft.x 4 ft. to welcome fortune for the Year of the Dog!

LEGO Star Wars 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon available again UK/EU [News]

LEGO online store is showing that 75192 Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon is back in stock and available to order once more for UK and EU customers, but expect the set to be gone quickly. Stock of the UCS Millennium Falcon has been limited since its launch last year, sadly it is still showing as out of stock online for our US and Canadian readers. This announcement is for our UK and EU readers!

Ultimate LEGO Star Wars author event at Powell’s Books: Sat Jan 20 [News]

As part of an ongoing mini-tour to support our Ultimate LEGO Star Wars book from DK, Chris Malloy and I will be guests at the Powell’s Books location in Beaverton, Oregon next Saturday, Jan 20th at 2:00 PM. We’ll be doing a panel discussion moderated by one of our LEGO friends from PortLUG, a Q&A, and book signing.

Powell’s Books is the world’s largest independent bookstore, and I’ve been buying books from Powell’s in Portland my whole life. It’s a little surreal to be doing an author event with Chris there now! You can read all of the Beaverton event details on Powells.com, including a pre-order of a signed copy.

For LEGO Star Wars fans closer to our home base here in Seattle, Chris and I also be doing author events at two Third Place Books locations in Seattle (Ravenna and Seward Park) in February, so stay tuned for more details.

LEGO Star Wars 75201 First Order AT-ST reveals The Last Jedi spoilers for no good reason [Review]

It’s rare that a LEGO set on its own serves as a major spoiler for a movie. From the now-classic Indiana Jones sets to Jurassic World sets more recently, LEGO sets provide characters, vehicles, and locations without revealing much more than a character’s name. But 75201 First Order AT-ST reveals several fundamental plot points of a major scene late in the movie. The set includes 370 pieces with 4 minifigures. Beyond just our usual criteria of design and value, is the set worth the spoilers?

We’d normally add a SPOILERS! warning here before the jump to the full review, but hey, LEGO has already spoiled several key plot points by releasing the set, so let’s just dig in.

LEGO Star Wars 75200 Ahch-To Island Training from The Last Jedi [Review]

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been out in theaters for nearly a month, so we’re circling back to some of the LEGO sets released to support the movie. 75200 Ahch-To Island Training retails for $29.99 (US) with 241 pieces and features Luke Skywalker, Rey, and a porg.

We hope you’ve had an opportunity to see the movie, but fair warning that we’ll be discussing the movie’s plot freely, so consider this your standard SPOILERS! warning.
