LEGO reveals 75936 Jurassic Park T-Rex Rampage featuring the largest dinosaur ever in an official set [News]

Welcome… to LEGO Jurassic Park. LEGO has officially revealed 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage, a behemoth of a set towering nearly a foot and a half high and clocking in at 3,120 pieces. The set comes with the largest brick-built dinosaur ever released in an official LEGO set–a gigantic Tyrannosaurs Rex–along with the iconic front gate to Jurassic Park and six minifigures including John Hammond, Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, Ray Arnold and Dennis Nedry.

The set will retail for US $249.99 | CAN $299.99 | UK £219.99 beginning June 19th for LEGO VIPs (free for anyone to join) with general availability beginning July 1st.

New Lego Star Wars video game: The Skywalker Saga revealed at E3 [News]

Hold on to your lightsabers, padawans, TT games has announced an all new Lego Star Wars game, The Skywalker Saga, at this year’s Microsoft XBox E3 press conference. Not merely a rehash of past games, this will be an all-new experience that spans all nine Star Wars movies including the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It boasts over 100 playable characters and the ability to drop into the story at any point you wish.

“LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga marks our return to the franchise that kicked off the LEGO video game series. The game will give fans an all-new LEGO Star Wars experience with complete freedom to explore the LEGO Star Wars galaxy,” said Tom Stone, managing director of TT Games. “It was an absolute pleasure to be part of the launch of the original LEGO Star Wars game and it’s equally exciting to now move the series forward and help create a new era of LEGO Star Wars games.”

“With the Skywalker saga coming to an end, we wanted to give fans the ultimate Star Wars video game experience with all the humor and charm that is uniquely LEGO,” said Douglas Reilly, vice president, Lucasfilm Games. “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will bring to life all those Star Wars adventures remembered and undiscovered in an epic culmination of all nine saga films as fans celebrate the closing of this chapter in Star Wars.”

A flock of freaky feathered friends

Who is more curious, the flock of crazy LEGO birds or the bemused kitty? Whatever the answer Morlon Empire’s build has me grinning from ear to ear. Working from a single seed part, in this case a banana that doubles as a beak, he’s created an expressive feathered character. They look fabulous en masse with their necks craning at different angles. Morlon deserves a feather in his cap for creating such an amusing scene from such a simple idea and only a handful of bricks.

LEGO Ideas 40335 Space Rocket Ride available now free with purchase [News]

LEGO’s latest Ideas set, 40335 Space Rocket Ride, is now available as a free gift with orders over $99 USD from the LEGO Shop Online. Of course, it won’t be too difficult to find things to fill your cart, as 75810 Stranger Things The Upside Down (US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £179.99) is now widely available, and 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander (US $99.99 | CAN 139.99 | UK £84.99) has just released, each of which will qualify for the promotion by themselves. The Lunar Lander also includes an embroidered mission patch commemorating the lander in LEGO form.

Astounding LEGO Super Chief train up for charity auction [News]

The Super Chief was the flagship of the Santa Fe Railway. During the 30s and 40s it earned the nickname “The Train of the Stars” by hauling Hollywood celebrities from Chicago to Los Angeles, and becoming almost as famous as its passengers. Tony Sava has put together a formidable LEGO version of this iconic train, and has decided to auction it off for charity at Brickworld 2019 in Chicago. The 8-wide locomotive is a beast, beautifully detailed, fitted with Power Functions motors, and features smart custom stickers to recreate the Santa Fe livery. It’s a lovely model, and a lovely gesture for it to be donated to a charity auction — I hope it raises a caboose-load of cash.

LEGO Minions are coming in 2020 [News]

In case you needed more Minions in your life, here is some exciting news: LEGO has announced Minions as a new product theme beginning in 2020. A short teaser featuring a brick-built yellow face and a pair of eyes appeared today in the company’s Twitter feed. The LEGO products will accompany the release of Minions: The Rise of Gru, which is scheduled for July 2020.

LEGO Minions are joining another animation-based theme announced a couple of weeks ago, LEGO Trolls. More details about the new products will follow soon, but both themes shall be available around spring 2020.

LEGO Creator Expert 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander [Review]

Along with Town, Castle, and Pirates, the theme of space exploration has always been one of the pillars of LEGO philosophy. It all started with 801 Space Rocket set released just three years after the first human spaceflight in 1961. Throughout the decades of play bizarre space sub-themes like Insectoids, Ice Planet 2002 and Spyrius have appeared. But it turns out kids (and adults, too!) are fascinated with the real spacecrafts just as much as sci-fi ones. The memorable LEGO Discovery line-up brought us models of the most amazing human-made space ships and commemorated the landmarks of space exploration, and LEGO’s first Lunar Lander was way back in 1976. LEGO NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander now available with stellar space patch promotion [News]

A new month means new LEGO sets on sale, with June seeing the launch of the recently announced 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander and general availability of 75810 Stranger Things The Upside Down. The Lunar Lander comes with 1,087 pieces and two minifigures for US $99.99 | CAN 139.99 | UK £84.99, and the Stranger Things set comes with 2,287 pieces and eight minifigures for US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £179.99.

LEGO is also offering this awesome Space Patch reminiscent of those from NASA with purchases of the Lunar Lander from June 1-9 while supplies last. If the previous reaction to the LEGO Mustang Keychain promotion gives us any idea, this patch will be quite popular as well.

For our international readers, many of the newly announced summer wave of sets including Architecture, Friends, Harry Potter and City Space sets are available now as well. (U.S. availability for summer LEGO waves will begin in late June/early August.) Also the LEGO Ideas 40335 Space Rocket Ride promotion we reviewed earlier this week will begin in a few days on June 5th, so if you want to double up on promos you will have to wait a few days.

LEGO Hidden Side Diner Shrimp Shack Attack 70422 set is unveiled [News]

The summer wave of LEGO Hidden Side, a new series designed with augmented reality, will include 8 sets. Seven of them were revealed earlier this month, and the last one, 70422 Diner Shrimp Shack Attack, was announced today. The set will come with 579 pieces and will retail at 49,99 Euro in Europe, which converts to about $50 US. More details on availability will come at a future date.
