A couple days ago we took a look at LEGO 80108 Lunar New Year Traditions, the second in a trio of this year’s Chinese New Year series. The whole collection of these sets (including years past) has been fun, adventurous, and feature-packed. They’ve also often been filled with interesting and new elements. 2022 brings us to another Year of the Tiger in the 12 year cycle, and with it we have LEGO 80109 Lunar New Year Ice Festival. Join us as we slide into the skating rink to take a closer look. This set has 1519 pieces, including 13 minifigures. It will be available January 10th, retailing for US $119.99 | CAN $149.99 | UK £89.99.
The LEGO Group provided The Brothers Brick with an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.
The Lunar New Year-themed sets will go live on 10th of January for sales. At the time when this article is published, UK sales would have gone live and availability on the US and CAD stores should be available very shortly. If they’re not live just yet, take the chance to read our reviews on both these sets that we’ve covered extensively.
LEGO has revealed two new sets to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year: 80104 Lion Dance and 80105 Chinese New Year Temple Fair. Both sets feature an incredible amount of new prints, recoloring of pieces and a significant amount of minifigures which all combine into a large festival setting. So today we have your first look at the sets and minifigures along with a video for each.
Honoring LEGO’s commitment to offer regional exclusives sets worldwide, the two new LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival models will launch in China and the Asia Pacific region starting December 26, 2019 with global availability beginning January 10, 2020.
Adding to the flood of new LEGO sets announced for this upcoming this summer, LEGO has officially revealed the highly anticipated 80103 Dragon Boat Race. The set will be the third Asian-themed exclusive set launched this year following the two Lunar New Year sets, 80101 Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner and 80102 Dragon Dance. The Dragon Boat Race set features two racing dragon boats, 15 minifigures and a viewing dock. The set will retail for SGD84.90 (around $65 USD) beginning May 1st.
While the previous two exclusive sets were very difficult to obtain in other parts of the world, LEGO announced earlier this week that regional exclusive sets like this one would have broader availability in LEGO retail stores worldwide and the LEGO Shop Online a few months after they launch. According to that information, 80103 Dragon Boat Race should have worldwide availability in several months, though we will post updates as we learn more.
