Norbi Demeter roundup for April 27, 2008

Yes, that’s right, Norbi Demeter (one pic borderline NSFW) gets a roundup post the first time he’s featured here. ;-)

Norbi is a LEGO builder from Romania who just recently started posting his creations to Flickr. It’s not often someone demonstrates such strong skills from the very first photo posted online, but Norbi clearly has talent.

Magic Punk battleship – Theolith

Brent Wolke (aka thwaak) is known for his Magic Punk creations that combine fantasy with the magical. The Theolith is a heavily armed flagship that looks to be constructed on a floating rock (which is fully capable of motion in Brent’s world). Kevin Guoh’s Neighbor Totoro

What better way to wrap up today’s green-themed posts with a character inspired by Hayao Miyazaki, whose movies remind us how beautiful and fragile this world is.

Battle in the streets of future Britain!

In the future envisioned by Shadow Viking, New British forces fight a street battle with the Coalition of Loyalist Britons:

LUGNuts Claim to Fame build challenge round-up

Custom desert camo Tumbler by Brent Waller

It’s not often we feature LEGO that’s been painted to achieve the builder’s intended effect. But occasionally, like Jamie’s Dardenbahst, a customized creation rises above the rest and gets my grudging vote of approval. ;-)

Check out Brent Waller‘s rendition of the Batmobile “Tumbler” from Batman Begins:

Because LEGO doesn’t make the pieces he needed in tan, Brent built the Tumbler in white and light gray, and then painted the pieces tan with vinyl dye. He then layered the camouflage on top of the tan paint. The end result of this labor-intensive process is the spot-on Tumbler you see above.

Rocko relaxes with the undead

So, after the zombie apocalypse, when humanity as we know it has ceased to exist, what do the victorious undead do? Kick up their heels in a gentlemen’s club, of course!

(The walking dead are simply pretending to be mindless drones as they tear apart our civilization. Clearly, once we’re out of the way, they’re capable of building a glorious society, as this diorama proves.)

Nannan featured in Official Xbox Magazine

The posable, brick-built oliphaunt (so called by Hobbits; called mûmak by men) certainly dominates the scene, but there are many more details to pore over in this great creation.
