Marvel made its LEGO debut in 2002 with the Spider-Man sub-theme of LEGO Studio. Since then we’ve seen LEGO sets based on most films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, X-Men, as well as a steady stream of Spider-Man sets for builders of all ages. Large-scale sets like Avengers Tower, The X-Mansion, and The Daily Bugle have proven incredibly popular with collectors and builders alike.

2021 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 2

Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which we hope will provide insight and hilarity to your holiday season!

This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 2.

Is it wrong that I’m rooting for The Lizard?

It is my opinion that LEGO has a difficult time making Spider-Man sets exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I love Spider-Man. He has all of the weirdest and coolest villains ever. But their current Spider-Man lineup, even their massive Daily Bugle set didn’t stir much interest for me. However, if this creation by hachiroku92 were a set, I’d plunk down top dollar for it. I don’t know, there’s just something about it. I love the toxic sludge, the fact that it takes place in a sewer scores points with me and it is a nice cozy diorama that would look good on any shelf. But the star of the show would have to be this builder’s interpretation of The Lizard. Wow! Just…wow! I’m seeing a Jurassic Park Dino head, the lab coat is amazing and those claws are the stuff of nightmares.

New LEGO Super Heroes Marvel sets revealed including a 380-piece buildable Iron Man action figure

The first four LEGO Super Heroes Marvel sets were revealed today. The new 2022 wave will bring three smaller armored mechs as well as a brand new buildable Iron Man action figure. All the sets are to be available starting January 1, 2022. Check out all the pictures in our overview.

Scarlet Witch’s cabin is a build worth studying.

The end of Disney+’s WandaVision series finds Wanda Maximoff sitting on the porch of a remote cabin in the mountains. As a tea kettle whistles, she rises and goes inside to pour herself a drink and we see that inside the cabin is a second Wanda, this one in full Scarlet Witch attire, hovering in the air and using her powers to comb through ancient texts. No doubt she’s looking for answers to the questions the show raised. If this is a spoiler for you, I don’t know what to say. You’ve had eleven months to watch it. And Lego_nuts has spent one and a half of those eleven months creating a custom build inspired by Wanda’s quest for knowledge.

The cabin we see here is much larger than the one glimpsed in the show, but in a way that’s the perfect direction to take. Since the studying Scarlet Witch appears to be some sort of astral projection, I like to imagine this build represents the mystical library that Wanda is accessing. Standing multiple stories tall, this space is filled with books and artifacts in every possible corner. That, combined with its dramatic lighting, makes this a true marvel of scene setting. But you won’t need to study ancient texts to find out how he did it. Just have a look at the video below.

Gigantic Sandman vs Spider-Man

LEGO has released quite a few renditions of Sandman. All of them have been minifigure scale, which is fine. Sandman can absorb sand in his surroundings and add it to his mass which means he can increase in size tremendously. To this day it still baffles me that LEGO has never created a brick-built Sandman to fight our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. Vincent Kiew is here to fill that gap. They created a brick-built Sandman from the waist up. Vincent’s Sandman is equipped with ball joints so you can pose him however you like. He even comes with detachable Schumacher-style nipples. The best thing about this build is that the face looks ever so friendly, something it does not have in common with the actual bad guy it is meant to represent. Thanks to the friendly eyes it kind of reminds me of my significant other trying to fend off a pesky insect and who wouldn’t want a LEGO rendition of that?

“What If...?” Killmonger drones ready for action

Spoilers ahead! If you haven’t seen this week’s episode of Maevel’s “What If…?” on Disney+ then you’ll want to avoid checking out this awesome Killmonger drone from talented TBB alum Simon Liu. Otherwise, come take a look with us!

Originally designed by Killmonger as a school project, the Liberator combat drone reached its full potential in the hands of Tony Stark. The drones saw action against the armies of Wakanda but were ultimately defeated.

Simon must have built this quickly since the Liberator drone has only been seen on screens since Wednesday. This drone makes excellent use of dark green with white highlights. I love the shaping of the torso and arms, as they look pretty accurate to what we saw in the episode. That red eye is so intimidating and shows that you don’t need a super complex LEGO building technique to pull off a cool effect.

LEGO Marvel Eternals 76145, 76154, 76155, and 76156 – All the Eternals movie sets in one big lump, just how you like ’em. [Review]

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been pretty tightly organized, but the past couple of years have seen a lot of shuffling when it comes to movie release schedules. Case in point: the Eternals. Originally slated for a November 2020 release, it was pushed back all the way to November of this year. That bump had an interesting effect on the film’s tie-in merchandise – LEGO was ready to release four sets, and already had them listed in their December 2020 catalog. Ultimately, those sets were never made available for sale, just sitting there as one of the bigger pre-release spoilers. That is, until now. Starting October 1st, we’ll be able to add the following to our shopping carts:

Iron Man’s muscular mech suit, Igor, is here to save the day

First featured in Iron Man 3, the Mark 38 (as known as Igor), is the predecessor to the Hulkbuster. Ransom Fern has constructed this accurate interpretation of the original design with the ability to pose. By building in this scale, Ransom has been able to portray the muscular proportions in great detail. The bend at the torso is particularly effective in terms of suggesting the upper strength of the suit. Wedge pieces represent the eyes and ridged tiles create the angled cheek bones. At the shoulders, slide plates act as segmented sections of armour. Even the striped patterns at the arms and legs have been replicated. It’s great to see some love for the suit as Igor, especially in this intricate form.

LEGO Marvel Eternals 76155: In Arishem’s Shadow – Not your typical space god. [Review]

Normally when LEGO and Marvel team up to offer sets related to an upcoming film, they go to great lengths to keep things under wraps until they can arrange for a big reveal. It’s just smart marketing. Unfortunately, the past couple of years haven’t been great for plans working out as intended.

Back in December of 2020, LEGO sent out a catalog showcasing four sets based around the upcoming Eternals movie…a movie that had been slated to be in cinemas in November of that year. But, thanks to Covid, that film was shelved until November of 2021. The sets were not released, never made it onto LEGO.com, and probably just sat in a warehouse somewhere…waiting. Until now. LEGO Marvel Eternals 76155: In Arishem’s Shadow will (finally) be available October 1st for
US $59.99 | CAN $79.99 | UK £59.99. Was it worth the wait? Come along as we take a close look at this Celestial offering.

LEGO 71031 Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures brings Loki, WandaVision, What If? and more [Review]

Rumors have been swirling about a series of LEGO Collectible Minifigures based on Marvel’s superhero franchise for years, but it seems the new spate of TV shows hosted on Disney+ have finally given LEGO the push they needed to let you buy at least some of your favorite superheroes à la carte. Of course, unlike the last series of CMFs based on Looney Toons, Marvel superheroes have long been a staple of LEGO’s lineup, The latest wave of the blind-pack figures, 71031 Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures, is set to drop Sept. 1 for US $4.99 | CAN $4.99 | UK £3.49 each, and the series includes 12 unique characters from across the four Disney+ Marvel Studios shows so far: WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If?.
