Sales, deals, and announcements about new sets available from the LEGO Shop (or LEGO Shop@Home to old-schoolers). A portion of every LEGO set purchased from the LEGO Shop online through The Brothers Brick goes toward supporting what we do here.

NinjaGo, LEGO Star Wars, and most 2011 LEGO sets now available [News]

Though this is for US & Canada only at the moment, nearly all of the first quarter 2011 LEGO sets are now available from the LEGO Shop online. As if that’s not enough of a temptation, you can still order in time for Christmas.

We here at The Brothers Brick are irrationally excited about what looks to be the silliest — and most awesome — of the 2011 themes. Fraukinder and mannkinder, I give you NinjaGo!

iconicon

The premise appears to be that several brightly colored ninjas take on an army of undead in single combat using a technique called “spinjutsu”.

iconicon

Seriously, how awesome is that? And don’t miss the ear-worm that is the NinjaGo theme song.

The 2011 LEGO City police sets feature a new dog, backpack, and crowbar.

iconicon

And of course, the 2011 LEGO Star Wars sets are also now available — not least of which the ever-popular battle packs.

Though I have yet to see a single episode of The Clone Wars, I’m intrigued by this non-gray Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship:

Finally, 10217 Diagon Alley will be shipping on January 1st, and is currently available for pre-order:

The Harry Potter book series may have come to a conclusion, but the movies continue, with the first half of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows due out later this year. LEGO still has the Harry Potter license, and will be releasing a full line of sets on October 1st (the night of the LEGO Store event at BrickCon, by the way). For those of you not joining us in person, you can pre-order the LEGO Harry Potter sets today.

The fourth LEGO incarnation of Hogwarts Castle (4842)icon includes 10 minifigs and appears to be modular like the previous versions.

I’m personally most excited by the six new minifigs in 4840 The Burrow:icon

Again, the full line of six sets is available for pre-order now, and will ship on October 1. (The video games and board game are all available now.)

Finally, LEGO has free shipping on $75 or more from now through September 19th.

8128 Cad Bane’s Speedericon has five minifigs, including some dude with a really funky hat.

The big additions are the 8098 Clone Turbo Tankicon (again with the funky hat) and new 8129 AT-AT Walkericon

iconicon iconicon

Personally, I’m most excited about 8089 Hoth Wampa Caveicon.

iconicon

Shipping is free for orders over $75 through the end of July, and remember, the LEGO VIP Program now works for Web orders — two more reasons to support the LEGO fan sites you visit (even if it’s not this one) by buying your LEGO online.

(We’re a bit behind on our news-related posts, so most of this won’t be a surprise to many of you, but thought I’d pass along the word anyway.)

LEGO Prince of Persia sets now available from LEGO Shop at Home [News]

All of the five new LEGO Prince of Persia sets are now available from the LEGO Shop Online. In addition, three keychains and a Prince of Persia magnet seticon have been listed. Nannan recently confirmed that the quality of the minifigures from the magnet sets are the same quality as normal minifigs, so get on your camel and start shopping!

For $20, 7570 The Ostrich Raceicon includes two ostriches and a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal minifig.

iconicon

If oddly pink ostriches aren’t your thing, 7571 Fight for the Daggericon ($30) includes the first LEGO camel.

iconicon

The big set in this theme is 7573 Battle of Almuticon, with 7 minifigs and a camel.

These last two Prince of Persia sets didn’t seem to warrant pictures, but also have some interesting new parts and minifigs:

After seeing the full trailer before Alice in Wonderland, I’m even less inclined to go watch the movie, but I’m rather excited by all the new stuff in the Prince of Persia LEGO sets.

7684 Pig Farm & Tractor includes 4 porkers, out now [Mini-Review]

Perhaps a bit buried among the news about the release of 10211 Grand Emporiumicon and LEGO Board Games is that the new LEGO City set 7684 Pig Farm & Tractoricon is also out now.

icon
icon

I’m certainly excited by these other new releases, but it says something that I’m choosing to build the pig farm first. Seriously, pigs! Four of them! Mmmmm, bacon…

UPDATE: I just finished building the set, and it didn’t disappoint. Aside from the pigs, the set also includes a number of other parts I hadn’t gotten before, starting with the short-brimmed baseball cap and a new exhaust pipe piece that appears to be new in 2010.

The tractor includes a lot of nice lime green to complement your Power Miners acquisitions, as well as my favorite wheels and tires. For play value, it has several connection points compatible with attachments from 7637 Farm and 7634 Tractor.

Pork! And finally, the elephant (or pig) in the room — the inevitable comparison to BrickForge pigs.

As you can see from the set pictures, the LEGO pigs are similar in style to the new LEGO cows from the farm and 10193 Medieval Market Village.icon They’re more rounded, and to a certain extent more realistic than traditional LEGO animals like the dog and horse (with printed eyes and rounded bellies).

BrickForge pigs, cows, and sheep share their design aesthetic with the older LEGO animals. Depending on whether you prefer your animals more consistent with your older LEGO animals or more adorably pot-bellied, there’s still a place for both BrickForge animals and their official LEGO counterparts. I like both.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, LEGO has informed us that release plans changed at the last minute and LEGO Board Games will not be released in Canada until later this year. Their release is U.S. only for the time being. Sorry, eh?
