Sales, deals, and announcements about new sets available from the LEGO Shop (or LEGO Shop@Home to old-schoolers). A portion of every LEGO set purchased from the LEGO Shop online through The Brothers Brick goes toward supporting what we do here.

4184 Black Pearl out + free shipping from LEGO extended [News]

A bit belated news for some, I realize — I’ve been sick — but 4184 Black Pearlicon is out now from multiple sources (text link goes to LEGO Shop; image link below goes to Amazon).

The highlight in this set for me is definitely the minifigs, with Davy Jones and the shark-headed Maccus. It goes for $100 (less at some big box stores at the moment) and includes 804 pieces.

Free shipping has been extended again from the LEGO Shop, with double VIP points through the end of October.

Finally, every purchase over $99 includes the first of a two-part Christmas vignette for free:

Here’s the second part, due out in November:

First off, LEGO.com is offering double VIP points for the full month of October, and it looks like all magnets are 50% off.

Not to be outdone by TRU’s Bricktober (which we won’t be supporting since they dropped FBTB, TBB, and Brickset all at once with no explanation a while back), Amazon.com has heavily discounted several large sets, starting with 7965 Millennium Falcon at 25% off, or $105.

25% off is nice, but Amazon has several more at 30% off, including 7066 Earth Defence HQ and 2507 Fire Temple.

Finally, if you’re in the UK, October 8th brings free LEGO sets from The Sun.

It features 8 minifigures (Santa Yoda anyone?), a mini X-Wing, mini Millennium Falcon, and 14 other Star Wars or Christmas-related mini-models. 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van rolls out Oct 2011 [News]

UPDATE: 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Vanicon is out now!

———

LEGO hippies everywhere are going to rejoice at the new LEGO Shop exclusive set revealed officially today, 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van. At over 1,300 pieces and $100 $120, it’s a substantial set with an amazing amount of detail and what appears to be lots of interesting parts and construction techniques. (Can you tell I’m excited myself?)

I’m certain that most of our readers have already seen the lower-resolution images of the set from the second Collector’s Guide. The folks at LEGO have finally made their official announcement, though, and we’ve got high resolution photos and a video to show off.

The van has an engine in its engine compartment and a complete interior:

I must admit, when I saw the first images of this set online, I wasn’t impressed. I thought that it looked very boxy, and undetailed. Obviously, the subject matter is somewhat boxy, but seeing the high resolution photos, I see more than I expected. The real appeal of this set turns out to be the interior, though. It opens up in a variety of ways, and looks fun to explore.

Check out all the interior and exterior photos in the photoset on Flickr.

Here’s the official press release from LEGO:

LEGO Star Wars 7879 Hoth Echo Base out now, 7962 Podracers reviewed [News]

The summer 2011 LEGO Star Wars sets continue to arrive at the LEGO Store online. As much as I appreciate the cool vehicles in the Star Wars universe, it’s nice to see LEGO release playsets occasionally, like the new 7879 Hoth Echo Base.icon

It’ll set you back 90 bucks, but the base contains a Tauntaun and eight minifigs, including R-3PO the red protocol droid, 2-1B medical droid, and a Bacta tank Luke. (Release news via FBTB.)

Also at $90, I’m personally more impressed with the revamped 7962 Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba’s Podracers, icon which FBTB reviewed in detail recently.

Summer 2011 Star Wars sets out now [News]

The LEGO Star Wars sets for Summer 2011 have just been released on the LEGO Shop online. For those of you who’ve been buying LEGO Star Wars since day 1 back in 1999, you’ll mostly find redesigns of existing vehicles in the non-Clone Wars section, but I have to admit after building 8097 Slave Iicon that 7144 Slave I just can’t compare.

The centerpiece of the summer collection is 7965 Millenium Falcon, icon which at 1254 pieces and six minifigs is the largest short of the UCS version I still have in its shipping box downstairs. (No, you can’t have it.)

There are also a bunch of Clone Wars sets based on characters and vehicles I know nothing about, even though they appear to have some cool parts and minifigs. See all of the sets by clicking the banner below:

Free shipping, HP Hogwarts pre-order, Cars 2, Alien Conquest, and more [News]

The last few days have brought enough LEGO Shop news that I’m having a hard time keeping up, starting with 10218 Pet Shop last week and free shipping on orders of $75 or more from today through the end of May.

The new, smaller 4867 Hogwartsicon is now available for pre-order (out on June 1), with seven minifigs.

iconicon

Continuing with licensed themes, the SYSTEM-scale Cars 2icon sets are out, and apparently include a fair number of interesting parts and colors.

iconicon

Finally, the full complement of non-licensed summer sets are also out, including the new Alien Conquesticon space theme, which has a wonderful Vic Viper tribute to nnenn.

LEGO Castle fans are rejoicing (myself included) over the release of the latest Kingdomsicon sets, which have new goats and chickens alongside printed pigs and horses.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean sets out now from LEGO Shop [News]

In time for the movie’s release next month, the new LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean sets are now available from the LEGO Shop online.

4195 Queen Anne’s Revengeicon has 1,094 pieces and comes with 7 minifigs, including Blackbeard, Jack Sparrow, and Angelica.

icon
icon

It looks like a great pirate ship, but I’m most excited by a lot of the smaller sets, such as 4191 Zombie Piratesicon and4192 Fountain of Youth.icon

iconicon iconicon

It’s nice that the Pirates of the Caribbean sets aren’t all vehicles, but 4193 The London Escapeicon does have a couple of cute carriages.
