Just a month ago we’ve got the very first look at some of the City 2018 sets. Now, with the official product pictures published online we can finally get ready for new adventures in the mountain forests, in the skies and deep into gold mines. But beware of grizzly bears and wild bees! As usual, prices are to be revealed very soon.

Official images of a selection of early 2018 LEGO sets have been released, including LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes, Creator, City and Technic sets due for release. The details include the set number and part count or pricing in some cases, but not all the information has been released as yet. There are a couple of interesting sets in particular with 31081 Modular Skate House within the Creator theme, and 42074 Racing Yacht from the Technic line-up.

Nobody likes to talk about waste/trash/rubbish/garbage — but it’s part of our lives as consumers. Call it what you like, but somebody still has to collect and transport it. de-marco has stepped up to help out our minifigures, building this adorable little waste container transporter. The garbage transporter will happily pick up any used and discarded LEGO bricks for disposal. de-marco has kindly provided instructions to help you build your own version. Just make sure you have the necessary training to work those hydraulics…

One of the buildings that most large cities have is a railway station, and LEGO cities are no different in this respect. morimorilego has built this rather traditional looking railway station with its bell tower and pleasing arched design, using a complimentary combination of greys, reddish brown, and tan. Every station needs a clock at the entrance to help passengers decide if they are late and require a last minute dash to the platform.
There are plenty of nice architectural details and interest with the main façade. The Mansard-esque roof and floral displays bring a touch of class to this building but those light stone steps will definitely be high maintenance on rainy days when muddy footprints strike.

While architecture skyline builds are a popular way to capture some of the landmark structures of a city, city son has created this fantastic mountainous sculpture of Hong Kong’s landmarks. At the base we have the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with its glass façade, surrounded by Golden Bauhinia Square. Dominating the scene is the Big Buddha with the Ngong Ping 360 cable car and Peak Tram exiting the mountainside, all of which are located on Lantau Island, Hong Kong’s largest outlying island.
What a great way to capture some of the highs of Hong Kong, although Big Buddha doesn’t look impressed with the cable car exiting his head!

There’s a strong possibility that I’ll be traveling to Japan for work later this year, and I’ve spent the last couple of evenings revisiting childhood haunts via Google Maps and looking at rail connections to get from one end of the country to the other. This train station by Japanese builder Kaz Fuji was thus quite timely as I plan potential rail travel to places like Kyoto and Nara.

Four years ago, Chase McCain embarked on a journey through LEGO City (one of the most crime-ridden cities that has ever existed, based on the abundance of police sets) to uncover plots and solve perplexing puzzles. Now, he is back and better than ever, remastered for the Switch, Wii, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In the game, Chase is a loose-cannon cop patrolling the city and tasked with ending a citywide crime spree orchestrated by underworld boss Rex Fury. He uses his humor, wit and building ability to find clues, fight thugs, and even build himself an array of vehicles superheroes would lust after. Of all the LEGO open-world-type games, this one is used most effectively, and the game has a strong accompanying storyline as well.
The game is full of LEGO humor and cameos from other famous detectives, and even plays at times like a PG-rated Grand Theft Auto, showing that both kids and adults can enjoy this game on different levels. Chase McCain is also coming to LEGO Dimensions later this year in a scaled-down world, so it will be fun to see him interact with the likes of Batman, Voldemort, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
