At the LEGO Fall Preview 2018 event we got a chance to take a look at the new LEGO City trains that were revealed yesterday. The designers have chosen to stick with a familiar theme that includes another modern passenger train as well as an industrial type train. We’ve also got a first look at a few new track packs that will be coming earlier in the summer. Let’s take a look at what’s in store.

LEGO City is growing especially rapidly this year, and while citizens enjoy hiking and rafting or busy making a doctor’s appointment, the new trains are arriving – 60197 Passenger Train and 60198 Freight Train. Both look very fresh and include some brand new Power functions elements, which we can’t wait to play with!

Last month, we got our first look at the long-awaited 60204 LEGO City Hospital, and today more images have surfaced online showing the details inside, including a minifigure arm cast, close ups of the vehicles and more. Price and piece count are still unknown, though the set should be available shortly with LEGO’s summer wave of sets hitting shelves soon.

Built by the members of SwissLUG as a collaborative build, this amazing Victorian-age city has details everywhere you look. Unlike many LEGO cities, the properly scaled tall ship at the docks doesn’t dwarf the rest of the layout, fitting right in while also serving as a beautiful anchor in the center of the scene.

Pictures of the next massive LEGO City play set — 60200 Capital — have just arrived on Amazon UK. The set includes three buildings, 6 vehicles, a playground and 12 minifigures. So far we have no details on the price of the set and its release date, but it is safe to say that the set will be available this Summer.

The summer 2018 LEGO City sets revealed last week feature an exploration team unearthing extinct Pleistocene megafauna like mammoths and saber-toothed cats, preserved in arctic ice. The largest set in the summer wave of City sets, the mobile base has four sections that can be connected, including a trailer for hauling the unfrozen mammoth back to the lab for research.
There’s been a lot of excitement among our readers about this upcoming series of LEGO sets, and we’ll be sure to bring you all the details about them as they emerge. In the meantime, enjoy this closer look at the set and its star proboscidean.

This year the LEGO City is getting a new hospital building — a gorgeous 60204 Hospital set. A long-rumored set has been finally revealed today. Let’s have a closer look at the new medical center opened for the citizens of the LEGO city.

People packs are meant to complement City sets to add more life and scenes with characters and activities. The first 60134 Fun in the Park – City People Pack released in 2016 was quite a hit with the introduction of a long-awaited baby minifigure, and last year’s version, Fun at the Beach, featured lots of beach activities. This year’s pack, 60202 People Pack – Outdoor Adventures, features a new set of minifigures doing everyday things with an outdoor adventure theme, such as camping, hiking, and rafting. There are a few new interesting elements to watch out for including a baby carrier and a bald eagle. Consisting of 164 parts, we’re expecting it to cost $39.99 USD, as the previous version did.

We singled out Jeff Friesen’s Cityscapes as our 2017 Creation of the Year. If you’ve missed it then, these are still very much worth a look, and even if you’ve seen them, they’re so mesmerising that you may find something you missed earlier on. It’s almost soothing and appealing to let your eyes wander around these intricate builds.
We could not resist reaching out to have a deeper discussion with Jeff to understand the mind of an artist that could create something so different and unique with the very same bricks all of us see and build with every day.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, e.g. where are you based, your LEGO history, and your work (LEGO/Photography and real life if it is different)?
I’m an award-winning photographer based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, which is on Vancouver Island. I have vivid memories of playing with LEGO from the age of 3 (that was in the early 1970s). I had a shoebox full of white and red bricks in the classic sizes, mostly 2 x 4s. Those bricks were used to make everything from aeroplanes to cities to double-decker car ferries for Matchbox racers. Recently, I was wondering why the brick selection was only red and white. After doing some research it appears the bricks must have been a hand-me-down set from the 1960s. Back then LEGO used to have basic building sets in just red and white.
The late 1970s brought with it the dual treasures of minifigures and Space LEGO. I essentially lived in a Space LEGO drama for a few years. Blue, trans-yellow, and grey were the primary colours of that era. As a child, the actual LEGO building is just the beginning of the fun, and then you get to play with what you’ve made. As an adult, I’ve replaced the play phase with photography.
It’s amazing how LEGO has been there through every stage of life, and now my daughter’s life.

The first official retail pictures of the upcoming LEGO City sets have been revealed for this summer. These sets contain rare and exotic prehistoric exotic animals, including a woolly mammoth and a sabre- toothed tiger. Prices, piece count and information on availability are yet to be announced.

Cole Blaq hasn’t treated us with his new wonderful designs since the middle of the last year. Finally, he is back starting the new building season with an awesome Town-themed model of Claas Xerion. The tractor has a lot in common with the new LEGO City 60181 Forest Tractor set, but unlike the official model it has a rotating cabin. Make sure to check out the instructions for this cool creation; it won’t take you many pieces to build one for your own LEGO farm!

During my childhood years, I saw dozens of broken LEGO pieces; some were damaged by harsh play conditions, others were tortured by my cat. But the worst was to find a favourite minifigure with a broken leg or arm. Jean Macou presents a building I wish my little city had — a magnificent city hospital which seems to have just about any equipment to treat a minifigure no matter how bad the injuries are. The authentic exterior of this massive building can easily make one believe this creation has a real-life prototype, while its wide windows let us peek into the hospital and try to guess what is going on inside…
The hospital is fully modular, which means any floor can be removed providing access for a better view and more convenient play. Although the building isn’t very spacious, it has literally anything you can find in a real hospital.
My favourite part is the right wing of the hospital featuring the surgery room. Bonus points for a couple of surgeons right from Series 6 of the Collectible Minifigures.
