And just like that, Febrovery is upon us once again

February is one of my favorite months in the year to be a LEGO fan. And that’s largely because of all the excellent Space designs that pour out from the community during the annual celebration known as Febrovery. Tons of sci-fi builders bring out their best wheeled creations to chart the surface of alien planets during these 28 days, and that includes Frost. Each year, he unloads a dropship full of rover-y goodness, including this wonderful model showcasing parts from the recent interplanetary LEGO City line. Time to harvest some purple crystals!

How to use forced perspective in space [Building Techniques]

Builder Jan Woźnica has a strong reputation in the world of LEGO space builds. Case in point, you may remember LEGO Ideas 21340 Tales of the Space Age, a set soon to retire from the slate of available sets on the LEGO site. While this isn’t as minimalist as those great pieces of art, this take on a Martian space elevator is stellar, featuring some forced perspective that’s out of this world!

Check out this massive Dune sandworm built by a LEGO Masters winner

With months of work now complete, LEGO Masters US Season 2 winner Mark Erickson has debuted an absolute monster of a build. This massive construction is taken right from the film series Dune, featuring a massive sandworm (or Shai-Hulud) staring down members of the Fremen and protagonist Paul Atreides huddled around the rocks. A studs-not-on-top technique brings the sand sea of Arrakis to life, and the massive worm is kept upright thanks to an inner skeleton made of Technic.

“Invaders from the very far north, my King!”

Extraterrestrials have generally been projected as quite the “grabby” culture, be it in film, literature, or LEGO. With a reputation for taking things, via tractor beams and all kinds of abduction tech, they’re no doubt to blame for my missing socks and car keys. Just look at them trying to make off with a microscale castle in this vignette by Zapalski! The details in this creation are superb. I appreciate the small field made of grill plates, and the large chunk of rock exposed by the flying saucer lifting the castle. And what a tractor beam it’s using, using a Ninjago Spinjitzu piece to great green glowing effect!

The Brothers Brick is looking for new Contributors to join our team [News]

Here at The Brothers Brick, we strive to bring you the best LEGO creations we can find, all made by those in this fantastic community. But covering all these great builds, along with plenty of LEGO news and reviews, takes a dedicated team of volunteers to keep our site running. I was once recruited by TBB using one of these posts, and we’re once again looking to fill our ranks, specifically with Contributors to help us find and highlight the best builds on the internet and social media, as well as elaborate on LEGO-related stories and news within the community. While all are welcome to apply, we’re especially interested in growing our ranks outside the US, be it LEGO fans from Eastern Europe or Southeast Asia. Non-native English speakers are welcome, and can offer TBB unique perspectives on the brick we all love. Are you interested in helping us out? Read on for more on the open positions at TBB and how to apply!

One last engine test at the Shipwright Academy

Few LEGO builders can deliver a sci-fi scene as well as the infamous Tim Goddard. And he delivers yet again in this beautiful scene set in the Star Wars universe. On a landing platform set out on the water, we spy a Shipwright-in-training testing out their new engine designed for propulsion in the air or water. With the crew observing an Emberfeather Crane, a sign of good luck on this final test flight. With so much detail in the scene, I think my favorite inclusion is the return of one of Tim’s builds from last year, standing tall in the background.

LEGO Bricklink Designer Program Series 4 – Siege Encampment: The biggest battle pack! [Review]

Here we are on the cusp of another round of pre-orders for the LEGO Bricklink Designer Program. And once again, TBB has got its hands on one of the sets ahead of time: Siege Encampment by builder Sleepless Night. This is the same fan designer that came up with Mountain Fortress from Series 1, which was well-received by the community as an excellent rendition of a new Black Falcons castle. But will lightning strike twice for this renowned LEGO Castle builder? Can this 2,598-piece set (with a whopping 18 minifigures!) stand out amid all the medieval love shown in the BDP program thus far? You’ll have to read on to find out! And if you want to get your hands on a copy of Siege Encampment, pre-orders for BDP Series 4 will begin on February 4th, 2025 at 8:00 AM PT, where the set will retail for $229.99.

The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

The LEGO Group announces ONE PIECE sets coming in 2025 [News]

After the success of its live action adaptation back in 2023, the LEGO Group has just announced a partnership with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios bringing ONE PIECE to the world of brick. There’s a lot to speculate about right now with no sets revealed. When will sets arrive on store shelves? How many sets will be in the theme? Which characters from the show will be captured in minifigure form? And how will they capture the signature stretchiness of protagonist Luffy? What we can say for certain is that LEGO is once again going to have a dedicated pirate theme, at least for 2025. We’ll be sure to update you with more information on set specifics as it becomes available. But for now, good luck in your quest to become King of the Pirates!

Collaborative LEGO builds lead to the best views

With the powers of eight LEGO builders are combined, some truly spectacular creations can come into being. For instance, the amazing team of jnj_bricks, Eli Willsea, Carter Witz, Joel Tyer, Micah Beideman, Roanoke Handybuck, Davis Brown, and J2_Bricks all came together to show Omar a world worth exploring. There is some phenomenal forced perspective at play, with darling rockwork, bridgework, and tower-work(?) all coming together into something magical. I am just wishing that Omar will take me along on his next voyage.

The Kenworth 993 is here to lug your heaviest LEGO models

Originally produced by the Kenworth Truck Company back in the 1980’s, the 993 model translates pretty well into LEGO all thanks to TsungNing Lee. Made to haul the heaviest of equipment, the truck actually doesn’t have room for its 700 hp Cummins V-12 engine in the front. Instead, you can see where it resides behind the driver, represented here by a bit of gray mechanics enclosed in a shell of yellow bricks and tubing.

Revisiting Life on Mars at Orion Station

Back in 2001, LEGO released a wonderful Space subtheme called Life on Mars. It featured a colony of Martians along with some Terran space exploration vehicles, and plenty of mechs. Builder Ben Brickson sends us back to the red planet with this glorious space station based on the original theme. Sporting the sand purple coloration of 7317 Aero Tube Hangar and a brilliant dark orange planetary surface dotted with trans-pink ferns, this build very much feels like a worthy modern take.
