This LEGO Wednesday Addams doesn’t care what day of the week it is!

Thanks to her recent series, Wednesday Addams has become the latest “It Girl” – or rather “Itt Girl.” And her gothic style is perfectly captured here in LEGO by builder Saird15. The character design is immediately recognizable, with brilliant shaping of the uniform. The pair of wedge plates for the lapels makes for quite the nice touch. Dark gray stripes help to break up Wednesday’s dress, as do the hints of white poking through her uniform. I absolutely love the technique used here for her braids – a simple solution to a complex problem in character emulation. But her parasol absolutely takes the cake! Utilizing a network of cloth bat wings, Saird15 is able to create a proper umbrella in the right scale for their brick-build Addams. Such an impressive design!

LEGO BrickHeadz 40549 Demogorgon and Eleven – Get ready for some Stranger Things [Review]

Few characters sweep the world like “Eleven” from Stranger Things. Since its premiere in 2016, Millie Bobby Brown’s immensely quirky character has proven to be iconic in every season. Meanwhile, the feature creature of the first season inspired dread and fear in all of us. Hailing from the mysterious and grotesque “Upside Down” version of our own world, the “Demogorgon” made a perfect Eldritch beast for the beginning of the series. Despite the immediate success of the series, it’s surprising that LEGO took until the third season to release the award-winning set 75810 The Upside Down. With a summer 2022 release still possible for season 4, LEGO seems to be getting ahead of the hype with two new BrickHeadz. The LEGO BrickHeadz 40549 Demogorgon and Eleven will be available from the LEGO Shop (US $19.99 | CAN $24.99 | UK £17.99) on February 1.

The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

Hit Netflix series Squid Game staff get the BrickHeadz treatment

The Netflix show Squid Game, is insanely popular at the moment. In case you haven’t seen it, the show is a strange mix of Hunger Games and playground games, with a pinch of The Prisoner thrown in. The guards are all hidden behind masks bearing geometrical shapes also found on many video game controllers. moco zone has created BrickHeadz style models of these mysterious and somewhat inhuman seeming guards. Similar to the Squid Game players who all wear green tracksuits, the guards all wear pink hooded coveralls, and also like the players, are known only by their numbers, and their rank, as determined by the shape on their masks.

Time-travelling assassins are busting out all over

Messing with the timeline? You’d better watch out — the Commission are bound to send their best agents after you. Jonas Kramm takes inspiration from Netflix’s dramatisation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s Umbrella Academy, putting together this cool pair of busts depicting Cha-Cha and Hazel, a pair of professional time-travelling assassins. For those who haven’t seen the show, the pair of killers arrive in our time wearing huge carnival costume heads. Jonas has perfectly captured their sinister yet cartoon-like appearance, and the use of umbrellas as neckties works well for the suits but also acts as a nice little nod to the show’s title. If only we could use Cha-Cha and Hazel’s time-travelling abilities to make season 2 arrive a little sooner.

“LEGO House – Home of the Brick” on Netflix [Review]

This is a great year for LEGO-loving Netflix subscribers, with two LEGO documentaries being released less than a month apart from one another! You might remember the special LEGO episode of the Toys That Made Us, which we reviewed at its release in May. The second documentary to roll into Netflix’s lineup is LEGO House – Home of the Brick. LEGO House is the LEGO Group’s own museum of play, designed to highlight both the company’s history and creative possibilities of the brick. Seven years in the making, LEGO House was designed by the Danish firm BIG and opened in September 2017. Home of the Brick is a 47-minute documentary that chronicles the journey the LEGO House took from its conception to last year’s grand opening.
