In addition to the amazing LEGO models created by builders all over the world, The Brothers Brick brings you the best LEGO news and reviews. This is our weekly Brick Report for the 1st week of May 2022.

TBB NEWS AND REVIEWS This week was as big a LEGO news week as last week was light on news. LEGO revealed over 20 new sets for Summer 2022 from City, Ninjago, Creator, Art, Harry Potter, and Marvel Superheroes. We also reviewed two LEGO Star Wars sets and a Disney Pixar set. Rancor vs Skorpenek – Microscale battle between two miniature monsters

If you were as thrilled as I was to see the mighty rancor roar in the basement of Jabba’s palace in theaters when Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi premiered in 1983, despite the stop-motion effects that showed us something of its actual size, then you would probably enjoy the season 1 finale of the Disney+ show The Book of Boba Fett. Tim Goddard has recreated the scene in miniature, pitting a pair of newly canonized Skorpenek devastator droids against Boba Fett riding on the back of a raging rancor.

SPOILER ALERT The rancor not only wins, but more than a few parts get ripped off and shoved in places they were not meant to go.

LEGO Naboo starfighter – An elegant ship from a more civilized age

Say what you want about the prequel trilogy, but it is hard to deny that the films came with more than a few iconic ships to give the Millenium Falcon some merchandising competition. Koen Zwanenburg was inspired to make a larger version of this ship having acquired a 4×4 Artoo head from a 2017 polybag. The entire ship was built to scale for this larger printed dome. Koen did a masterful job with the sleek lines and the delicate tail section. The engines are made from hollow tipper drums, which allow the thin wings to hold the weight without bending.

And check out this beautiful head-on view, which really shows off the delicate wings with the large engines that present one of the major challenges with building this ship, which Koen handled like a Jedi.

Why Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Is Selling Zillions Of Copies – [Kotaku.com] — The new LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is breaking records in sales after many months of waiting. Players and critics agree, it’s a hit.

Now that is a serious bunker-buster

If you are going to war, I can think of no better soldier to have on your side than this mighty war machine by Stephan Gofers. The overall structure reminds me of Bertie the pipebomb bot, but on a much more intimidating scale. Not only is it packing some serious firepower, but in a pinch, it could probably stomp your little pillbox bunker flat with one foot. Aside from the behemoth bot, the truck in the background, as well as the vegetation are all very nicely detailed.

LEGO Wall-E blasts his way into our hearts

For a movie with very little dialog in the first half, the Disney movie Wall-E had a great story and even greater characters. In this scene by Martin Gebert the love-sick little garbage mashing robot with a heart of gold makes a romantic attempt to get back to Eve using a fire extinguisher for propulsion. The cloud element first seen in the LEGO Monkie Kid theme is the perfect part for the foamy burst. Combined with the lumpy ice cream pieces, they connect to larger clouds made with a variety of radar dishes and other rounded elements. Chromed dishes give Wall-E his wide-eyed expression.

Area man calls 911 after spotting a mutated chicken on his property, police are baffled

When deputies arrived at the scene after responding to a call from a local alfalfa farmer about a strange creature outside his window in the middle of the night, they noticed an unusual sight at the edge of the man’s land, which seemed to be a weather balloon or a new-fangled washing machine. The strange object was stamped with “manufactured by Versteinert“. After setting up a cordon around the site, a black vehicle arrived on the scene, and two well-dressed gentlemen stepped out wearing dark sunglasses and holding up a small penlight…

Walk softly and carry a big... utility pole

If you can imagine a more frightening sight wandering the wastelands of the apocalypse cleaning up survivors and parading around with their skulls swinging from its weapon, please, keep it to yourself. LEGO builder Tino Poutiainen had brought this sulking, multi-eyed monster mech to life. It reminds me a bit of the alien mech from District 9. The long gangly arms that end in large fists and the chunky lower legs add to the unnerving effect, not to mention the deadly daisy chain of skulls adorning his staff.

TBB NEWS AND REVIEWS Last week was a big week for mech fans, with reviews of a bunch of new superhero, antihero, and villain mechs including Iron Man, Black Panther, Wolverine, Spider-man, and Green Goblin. The hero trend continued with new brick sketches for Iron Man and Miles Morales. The Sith inquisitor shuttle has landed

With each new Star Wars show to land on Disney+, LEGO creators are quick to jump on board with building custom models to celebrate… With the release of the first official trailer for the upcoming series Obi-wan Kenobi Remco Rohaan has wasted no time in cranking out this model of the new Sith inquisitor shuttle first seen in concept art released earlier this year. While the overall look seems to be inspired by Orson Krennec’s imposing shuttle from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the wings are shorter and there is no large dorsal fin.

Underneath the shuttle, you can see landing gear which includes one of my favorite parts for greebly details, the top half of a hinge brick, along with square flags used for the landing gear doors.

Corner bakery really takes the cake

Many LEGO builders pay homage to the very popular Creator Expert modular building sets, with good reason. They are full of architectural details, bright colors, and playful slice-of-life scenes. This corner bakery by Tong Xin Jun is a wonderful build inspired by a real-life painting. But while the overall look may seem fairly simple, if you take a closer look you will see many details that show off a lot of interesting techniques.

On the ground floor, the windows show racks of freshly-baked loaves of bread and pies. The balcony above the door is made from upside-down curved slopes. But I think my favorite detail is the inverted sloped above the second-floor windows. which are paired with modified plates with slope in a way that seems to fit perfectly.
