First LEGO House, then LEGO Designer!

You wouldn’t even need to read this article to know that this builder is on an amazing trajectory. I mean, look at this build, it is chock full of joy and optimism. But the story is, Lee Chi Wing got this creation into an exibit in the LEGO House, which is an honor in itself. That was right before they got hired on as a LEGO Designer! Down low and rather small, you see a model of the LEGO House itself and the rest of the creation represents each colored part of the building.

LEGO Ideas officially reveals 21329 Fender Stratocaster buildable guitar with 2 colors [News]

Today LEGO is finally revealing the official design for the LEGO Ideas 21329 Fender Stratocaster. The design was created by fan Tomáš Letenay as part of the Music to Our Ears contest for the crowdsourcing platform, and although it didn’t win the fan vote, LEGO designers specially selected it to become a set in September of 2020. The official set will include a version of the famous Fender Stratocaster guitar from the 1970s, and like the original submission, its 1,074 pieces include parts to build the guitar along with an amp. You’ll also get the option to build the guitar in either red or black. The set will be available starting Oct. 1 for US $99 | CAN $139.99 | UK £99. LEGO and a little red bicycle [Video]

If you think about it, it’s probably safe to say that more people in the world know how to ride a bicycle than operate an automobile. In fact, there are some countries where riding a bike is the preferred mode of transportation. It’s also not surprising to know that Denmark, a friendly, quiet, and quaint country (and the home of LEGO) is one of the world leaders in using bicycles for transportation. This working LEGO bike, built by Donny Chen pays homage to bikes everywhere.

The details are totally awesome, from the body shape to the realistic drive-train, freewheel, and pneumatic disc brakes. You’re going to want to watch the video below to get a full tour of all the excellent features!

Wondering why there’s sheet music on the bike’s rack? That’s a nod to Donny’s magnum opus: the incredible LEGO Ideas set 21323 Grand Piano. Yep, he’s the fan designer of one of the coolest LEGO sets of all time! Check out our review, linked above.

The Amazing Spider-Man is amazing as a LEGO-built classic comic cover

I’m an artist but it may surprise some of you to learn that I wasn’t much into comic books as a kid. However, the few comics I had held a specil place in my heart. I had a few issues of Star Wars, Superman, The Hulk, even Spider-Man. Speaking of which, this mind-blowing LEGO creation by Bas van Houwelingen is made to look like a classic comic book cover. This uncanny technique uses both intentionally built sections as well as seemingly haphazardly poured elements to create an amazing cohesive image. Here we see a closeup of Spider-Man as well as Sandman’s fist creeping (or sifting) into the shot. As 3-D art goes, especially in LEGO, you’d normally build Spider-Man with parts of him red, other parts blue and call it a day. But as 2-D artists know, you can often use other colors in surprising ways to give the illusion of a 3-D image. Here we see white, yellow, pink, lavender, green and other colors used beautifully here to tell a complex story.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Not only that, but if you look closely, you may find LEGO elements you wouldn’t normally use to build Spider-Man such as flowers, boats, even a few minifigures. The builder tells us that this work of art took a week to design and is comprized of about 5000 LEGO bricks and utilizes nearly all the red and pink bits in their collection. This technique is a great way to use some of those less-utilized pieces in any collection.

If this already looks a bit familiar to you, then your sharp eyes may have seen that this was submitted to the LEGO Ideas Friendly Neighborhood Comic Book Hero Contest and it was the grand prize winner in the Brick category!

LEGO Ideas 21328 Seinfeld features Jerry’s NYC apartment [Review]

There are not many sitcoms that were on air for as long as Seinfeld, especially given the famously simple premise of a show about nothing, which earned its reputation for taking mundane situations we can all relate to and turning them into pure comedic gold by repetition and exaggeration. Created by stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, Seinfeld had 9 seasons, premiering on July 5, 1989, and running until May 14, 1998, ending with 180 episodes. Now Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment joins the growing rank of sitcom-based LEGO kits which started with 21302 Big-Bang Theory and was followed up by 21319 Central Perk from Friends, and recently the neighboring 10292 Friends Apartments. Like those, the Seinfield set is jam-packed with easter eggs and references to some of the series’ most memorable episodes along with some very accurate details and some great building techniques, so let’s jump right in. LEGO Ideas 21328 Seinfeld includes 1,326 pieces and will be available to VIP members from July 21, and available to everyone on August 1, 2021 for US $79.99 | CAN $109.99 | UK £69.99.

A much more affordable typewriter

Do you love the new LEGO Ideas typewriter but you don’t want to break the bank? I know how you feel. And it looks like Vant . does too, since they have built a pint-sized version of the new sand-green typewriter with an amazing amount of detail in a very small package (paper letter not included). While I love the carriage return and the curved front, my favorite detail is the ink ribbon made from lever handles.

You can see even more details from the top, like the paper guide connected with droid arms that can lift up just like the real thing. And don’t miss the letter keys made from a pair of claw elements and an unusual Bionicle part.
