BrickCon 2022 registration now open with Pixar director Angus MacLane as keynote [News]

The longest-running LEGO fan convention is gearing up for another epic year, with BrickCon returning this fall with a blackjack theme for its 21st year. Held in Seattle, BrickCon hosts a 4-day convention Thur-Sun, Sept. 29 – Oct. 2, for adult builders and fans with games, presentations, display opportunities, prizes, and more. BrickCon is continuing the successful hybrid model it pioneered last year to allow virtual attendees for those who cannot make it to Seattle in person, with special activities for online participants. Registration for the 4-day adult builder convention are $85 in-person, and $25 to attend online, available now on BrickCon.org.

This year BrickCon’s keynote speaker is Angus MacLane, an avid LEGO fan and builder who is best known as the director of movies like Finding Dory and Lightyear. Angus joked recently on twitter that the yellow canopy on Buzz Lightyear’s spaceship was because he wanted more LEGO trans-yellow windscreens, so we can’t wait to hear from him.

LEGO Ideas reveals 21336 The Office, now available for pre-order [News]

Folks, Pretzel Day has come early! This morning, LEGO debuted it’s latest Ideas set: 21336 The Office. Based on the US television show of the same name, the diorama features a whopping 15 minifigures! Almost all of the regular cast members are featured, as it looks like Andy may be off at anger management after punching a Technic hole in the wall. In these 1,164 pieces, we also get details from some of our favorite storylines: Meredith’s encounter with a bat, the teapot, “Lazy Scranton,” Kevin’s chili, and the iconic stapler in jello. Forget new chairs or a new copier, this is where the surplus should go! LEGO Ideas The Office is now available for pre-order in the US and Canada, with release on October 1st. In Part I of our review of LEGO Icons 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, we explored the building at the center of this massive, 4514-piece love letter to the Castle theme. 71411 The Mighty Bowser is the latest addition to the LEGO Super Mario Adult product line [News]

The newest LEGO Super Mario set has been released: The Mighty Bowser. The set containing 2,807 pieces features the King of the Koopas in his largest scale yet.

The set is the latest product from the LEGO and Nintendo partnership. It follows the 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System and the 71395 Question Mark Block The Mighty Bowser will be available starting October 1st for US $ 269.99 | CAN $ 349.99 | UK £ 229.99

LEGO Harry Potter 40577: Hogwarts Grand Staircase [Review]

The LEGO Harry Potter modular style sets have been very popular since they were first introduced. Not only are they great for playing with but their modular nature lets you mix and match to create many unique combinations that fit very well on shallow display shelves. But with so many sets stacked on top of each other, Hogwarts students had a hard time moving between the floors. Well no longer. With the introduction of LEGO Harry Potter 40577: Hogwarts Grand Staircase gift with purchase, collectors, and fans will be able to give their Minifigs access to the second or even third floors in their scenes with a bit of creative stacking. Hogwarts Grand Staircase comes with 223 pieces and will be available from July 15th – July 31st with a qualifying purchase of $130 / €130 / £130 threshold, on Harry Potter.

LEGO Icons 10497 Galaxy Explorer: Classic Space has never looked so good [Review]

LEGO’s first space sets with minifigures were released in 1978, and the following year one of the most iconic LEGO space sets hit the market: 497 Galaxy Explorer (or 928 in the European market). In the decades since, this line has come to be called Classic Space, and the Galaxy Explorer, in particular, has gained mythical status. Now as part of the company’s 90th-anniversary celebrations in 2022, LEGO is releasing an homage to the fan-favorite spaceship with an upscaled and detailed rendition, 10497 Galaxy Explorer. The 1,254-piece set can be pre-ordered now for US $99.99 | CAN $129.99 | UK £89.99 and will be available August 1. Let’s take a closer look and see if this new Galaxy Explorer is worthy of the name.

LEGO Icons 10305: Lion Knights’ Castle : Part One – The Castle [Review]

The Castle theme was an early cornerstone of the LEGO line. Starting out in 1978 with the set 375 King’s Castle, we’ve seen dozens of sets over the years. The theme fell mostly dormant in 2014, with only a recent return with 2021’s Creator 3-in-1 31220 Medieval Castle and 910001 Castle in the Forest sets. But just wait until you check out what LEGO has unveiled for their 90 Years of Play celebration. LEGO Icons 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle is a massive, 4514 piece love letter to the theme that will be available to VIPs on August 3rd (and everyone on August 8th) for US $399.99 | CAN $499.99 | UK £344.99. Today, LEGO Ideas revealed the results of the third review of 2021. Joining this year’s lineup of newly approved LEGO Ideas sets is the Hocus Pocus – Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage.

LEGO reveals 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 as next large-scale Icons vehicle [News]

Today LEGO has taken the wraps off the next large vehicle in the newly rebranded Icons theme (formerly Creator Expert), revealing the 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Based on the iconic 1969 muscle car, the Camaro Z28 will include 1,458 pieces and comes with the option to build as a hard top or convertible. You can also choose to include dark red, white, or light grey racing stripes, or choose between classic and hideaway headlights. It follows 10295 Porsche 911 Turbo & 911 Targa and 10298 Vespa 125 in the Icons vehicle collection. The Camaro will be available starting Aug. 1 for US $169.99 | CAN $209.99 | UK £149.99.
