LEGO Icons 40579 – Eiffel’s Apartment: A towering gift with purchase [Review]

The massive Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower will be arriving on November 25th – and LEGO has a gift with purchase promotion that is tied about as tightly to the French landmark as you can get. Gustave Eiffel’s private apartment, hidden on the third level of the tower, has been re-created in minifigure scale for Icons 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment. We’re still waiting on the official word, but our guess is it is linked to the purchase of the 10307 Eiffel Tower so getting this “booster box” of 228 pieces carries an indirect price of US $629.99 | CAN $799.99 | UK £554.99. Does this set make the overall tower more appealing? Come along as we take an early look!

LEGO reveals the Eiffel Tower as the next set in the Icons line [News]

The LEGO Icons theme is going to new heights with its next set: 10307 Eiffel Tower. Clocking in at just over 10,000 pieces, this will be the tallest official LEGO set ever made, standing almost 5′ tall when fully assembled! The dark gray darling is detailed with intricate trusswork and topped with a French flag. Other structural details include elevators and an office on the top floor. LEGO Build Every Day and the Master Builder Notebook – When you choose paper instead of plastic [Review]

Master Model Builder Alec Posta has teamed up with Chronicle Books to share some tips for tapping into the power of LEGO bricks. No, not in a “power a clock with a potato” sense, but more like “how to power through real life issues using LEGO as a source of inspiration.”  Build Every Day is available from Amazon for $13.99 US, and the companion Master Builder Notebook can be had for $13.60 US. Read along as we take a look inside both books and see just what they have to offer!

Will you get a kick out of LEGO Ideas 21337 Table Football [REVIEW]

LEGO Ideas has produced an increasing number of sets based on contests, in addition to the regular get-10,000-votes method. Most of these have been smaller gift-with-purchase items, but LEGO Ideas 21337 Table Football joins 21329 Fender Stratocaster as a full-size retail set. This was the winning submission in the We Love Sports LEGO Ideas contest, and let’s get right to the main question: the winning submission was a full-size, 11-on-11 table football setup (usually referred to as foosball in the U.S.). When the contest results were announced, lots of fans were excited to get a near full-size playable game. That swiftly turned to disappointment when the official pictures were released. The set has been scaled down to 5-a-side, less than half the size of the original! While there are very clear reasons for that choice, does it still leave us with a desirable set? LEGO Ideas 21337 Table Football, with 2,339 pieces and a whopping 22* minifigures (* and even more hair and heads), is available now for US $249.99 | CAN $309.99 | UK £214.99.

A quintet of new Avatar sets from The Way of Water revealed on LEGO.com [News]

With the second installment in this newly-revitalized franchise set to hit theaters at the end of the year, LEGO has debuted five new sets from Avatar: The Way of Water. These sets continue common tropes from those already available in the theme, whether it’s militaristic vehicles like the 75577 Mako Submarine, or the creatures of Pandora featured in 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit. Once again, we see the taller minifigures featured in these sets, adding a new dark aqua version of Pandora’s denizens to the mix. And true to the heavily-hydrated movie title, these LEGO sets prominently feature aquatic settings. With loads of coral constructions and undersea rock formations, there’s an especially diverse array of parts available in this lineup. All five of these sets will be available from LEGO stores and their website on January 1st, with 75576 Skimwing Adventure and 75578 Metkayina Reef Home available for pre-order right now through LEGO.com.

LEGO Friends reveals 5 sets for 2023 with diverse characters to better represent children [News]

Today LEGO has revealed the first wave of Friends sets for 2023, bringing in a new cast of characters and an update to the branding with a new logo. A new LEGO Friends television series will also accompany the new sets.

LEGO’s annual Play Well study revealed that 3 out of 4 children felt there were not enough toys with characters that represent them, so LEGO is aiming to bring more diverse representation to Heartlake City that’s inclusive of not just various ethnicities and genders, but also disabilities and neurodivergence. LEGO says the 2023 sets and series will feature characters with limb difference, Downs Syndrome, anxiety, vitiligo, and even pets with disabilities, including a blind dog and a dog with a wheelchair.

Five new Friends sets will be available starting Jan. 1, 2023, and the new TV show will kick off with a special in February.
