Collectible Minifigures Series 18 are officially available now, and this series will be among the most popular ever. We brought you a thorough review of the whole set of party-themed characters a few weeks ago to help you decide which characters you want, and now it’s time to help you find them. Whether you want all 17 characters or just that one awesome minifigure, you’ll have a few options.
Spring is for the birds. Helping usher in spring for TBB’s cover photo this month is Gregory Coquelz’s excellent rendition of Pixar’s For the Birds that we featured back in February. Each time you visit us on our social pages, you can imagine the endless chatter of birds on an electric cable. Or, it might be the birds outside your window. We’ll leave that up to you to figure out.

Move over, pop culture, because LEGO Education BrickHeadz have arrived. LEGO today announced a new Politics@Play line of its popular BrickHeadz line, commencing with 41630 Trump & Putin. The double BrickHeadz buddy pack features the two world leaders, contains 279 pieces, and will retail for $29.99 USD beginning May 1.

Just in time for Easter, our friend Jason Allemann and his partner Krystal (JK Brickworks) have brought us another marvelous, moving creation! Festive candy seems to be a common theme in their builds lately. This one is an adorable bunny with a unique talent of pooping out chocolate eggs! They have used the new Boost robotics system again, and the design is incredibly simple. It’s so simple that young people could probably build something similar. That’s not to say it isn’t uniquely cute and clever all wrapped into one perfect, pooping package!

It’s no secret that we’re madly in love with the new BrickHeadz customization kit, so we’re very pleased that all of our readers can join in the fun of building your own BrickHeadz characters by picking up your own copies of 41597 Go Brick Me, which is available starting April 1st from the LEGO Store ($29.99 US | £25.99 | $39.99 CDN).
41597 Go Brick Me includes a whopping 708 pieces and has the necessary brackets, eyes, and other unique parts to build two complete characters, with enough other parts to customize them in literally thousands of different combinations. The set is a screaming deal as a parts pack even if you don’t intend to build a single BrickHeadz character.
Despite an official release date on April 20, LEGO Star Wars sets from Solo: A Star Wars Story are beginning to hit store shelves all over the world, and we’ve picked up copies of several of the sets so you can get a first look at these upcoming sets. 75210 Moloch’s Landspeeder will retail for $39.99 and includes 464 pieces with two minifigures and a pair of white Corellian hounds.
With the movie release nearly two months away, the sets released ahead of the film tend not to have much in the way of spoilers, but if you’re assiduously avoiding even the names of characters on LEGO boxes, this will serve as your mild spoiler warning.

Somewhere in the heart of America, in some tiny, rundown town, sits a gas station just like this one. Actually, there are many of them along old nearly-forgotten interstate highways. They are a staple of rural American culture. The original (non-LEGO) miniature diorama by Yasu Okugawa from Doozy! Modelworks, was built with many materials, and is quite beautiful. But this version by César Soares packs a ton of detail into a small space, using only LEGO! He does a wonderful job of capturing as many aspects of the original as possible. (Aside from the added touch of recognizable LEGO stickers instead of the originals)
The build is definitely one to zoom in on and take a while to look at every angle. From revolver gas-pump handles to green artist-pallette trees, and even spoon chair legs, it’s certainly a clever use of parts. The techniques used to achieve such an authentic look on the building, pumps, and car are truly impressive!
Who is the pirates’ greatest enemy? Imperial navy? Or is it really the mysterious ship-devouring monsters of the deeps? William Navarre tackles the latter with his latest creation, pitting a pirate ship against a gargantuan kraken. Of course I do not envy the pirates their futile fight, but seeing a kraken would probably be worth it either way…
This is a really dynamic image, owing this impression to the expressive curves in the monster’s tentacles and the perfect little tilt on the ship. As expected from Navarre, the build is full of intense textures and complicated techniques coupled with unique part usage. What most builders avoid like the plague, the builder uses to his biggest advantage: the water is more than a base or even just a blue background, Navarre has built it to show the forces at work with waves and splashes corresponding to the action in the scene.
Didier Burtin showcases a huge Star Wars moment in a small scale with a micro Battle of Takodana scene. The low-flying, wave-making X-Wings are equally as eye-catching in LEGO as they are in The Force Awakens. Though the X-Wing formation is the highlight for me here, Didier’s detailed microscale rendition of Maz Kanata’s Castle won’t go overlooked.
This winter landscape sculpted by John Snyder is a glimpse of the raw beauty of nature. There are many details to reward a closer look from the frozen pond to the brick-built wildlife. I count 9 animals ranging from a blue jay to a hibernating bear, can you find them all?
Last week we reviewed the latest LEGO Ideas set, 21314 Tron: Legacy. The set launches on March 31st, and is available now from the LEGO Shop online ($34.99 US | £29.99 | $44.99 CAD).
The new set includes two light cycles, three minifigures — Sam Flynn, Quorra and Rinzler — with a total of 230 pieces. You can learn more about the set in our hands-on Tron review.
LEGO launched their Infinity War tie-in sets and the Hulkbuster at the beginning of the month, so we managed to snag a few freebies along with our 76105 Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition. One of the free gifts was a promotional polybag 30525 The Guardians Ship, which depicts a miniature version of the ship in 76107 Thanos: Ultimate Battle. Little is known about the Guardian Ship as it features in an upcoming movie, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War that is released next month.
