An office with a view

Whatever people may think about Darth Vader’s regime, there’s no doubting his taste for classy work spaces. Whether he’s working from his head office or on a business trip to a distant system, the interior and the views he and his staff enjoy are to be envied. Brick Ninja perfectly captures his excellent model of the Imperial Super Star Destroyer Executor, so perfect it looks almost exactly like a shot from The Empire Strikes Back.

Executor Bridge

And it’s not just a pretty-looking diorama, but a proper copy of the ship’s bridge. While the front of the bridge is for admiring the fleet, there are some important business meetings happening on its other side.

Multicolored spacemen abound in 70841 Benny’s Space Squad from The LEGO Movie 2 [Review]

It’s just a little over a month until the première of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. Is there a better way to get ready for the new adventures other than to treat yourself with one (or maybe two, or three, or nineteen) of the nineteen new themed sets? It seems like anyone will be able to find a set that suits their taste, but there is only one that got a lot more attention than the others — 70841 Benny’s Space Squad. The set can be described as a “Classic Space battle pack”; sounds like an adult LEGO fan’s dream, doesn’t it? Let’s get the set assembled and take a closer look at the new minifigures…

LEGO BrickHeadz 40354 Dragon Dance Guy [Review]

There has always been something very special about LEGO Seasonal sets. It’s not just the subject matter of the sets, but also their unusual designs and formats that look nothing like regular retail LEGO themes. In 2019, LEGO will be making holidays even more special with a stunning lineup of Chinese Lunar New Year LEGO sets. Although these might be only available in China and the rest of the Asia Pacific region, there’s still an excellent way to take part in these celebrations — the new LEGO BrickHeadz 40354 Dragon Dance Guy brings a festive holiday mood in a very funny format.

An ultracompact TIE-fighter for those living in busy supercities

Despite its simplicity, for many years the famous TIE-fighter remains one of the most popular subjects for building experiments among LEGO fans. Inthert‘s restless imagination creates some of the most usual versions of the most iconic star-fighters. Now, the latest TIE-Proteus is a particularly cute subject, definitely devised in an attempt to solve traffic problems around the largest of the First Order’s bases.

Jokes aside, this very smart design features a whole bunch of brilliant solutions, among which I particularly love simple, yet amazingly elegant landing gear.

A bomber with character

It definitely takes talent and building skills to create a realistic, yet funny vehicle or aircraft. John C. Lamarck nails it with a chubby JL-450 “Wolverine” inspired by fighters and bombers of the 1940’s. A perfect choice of stickers completes its clean look very well, but it is its short and clusmy body that really creates the character.

And my brick will go on and on...

The possibilities of the LEGO BrickHeadz format seem to be truly unlimited. These funny characters can make any story better, even a beloved one, as proved by Cindy Su with her recent recreation of the most heart-piercing scene from Titanic. And once you have wiped tears away, you will notice a very unusual upgrade to the figures: movable arms. These are made with some pretty rare arm elements from space themes of the 90s, but fit amazingly well into the modern BrickHeadz style.

First half of 2019 LEGO City lineup revealed [News]

Despite all the adventures that LEGO themes like NinjaGo and Star Wars can offer, LEGO City remains the toy manufacturer’s #1 best-selling line. Sets released during the previous couple of years took us on journeys to jungle forests and arctic deserts, however, the first half of 2019 looks as diverse as possible. Here are firefighters fighting fire with new pump devices, sky police fighting crimes up in the skies, as well as a boat, a couple of vehicles straight from the farm, and even a snow groomer. No doubt, every kid will find a set according to their interests. All sets are to be released during the first half of 2019, starting January 1. Prices and full descriptions are yet to be announced.

LEGO Technic 42096 Porsche 911 RSR is revealed [News]

A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one: 42096 Porsche 911 RSR will be the largest LEGO Technic set of the first half of 2019. First official pictures reveal a 1,580-piece-large replica of one of the most iconic racing vehicles of our days. The set seems to be loaded with various play features: a rear wing with ‘swan neck’ mounts, detailed cockpit, working differential, independent suspension and some more. Unfortunately, the model features no working gear box, but its brilliant design seems to make up for any missing mechanism.

Are you still there?

Bleak laboratories of the Aperture Science facilities (as seen in both parts of Portal) will be forever remembered by the game’s fans thanks to the chilling soulless voices of the turrets. Although LEGO creations are rarely designed to make any sound effects, just pictures of these works by (FLAVIO) is enough to make me feel uneasy in much the same way those turrets did. TORUS is a beautiful example of how irregular Technic parts can be combined with tiles to create a peculiar layer of armour.

A proper vehicle for the true heroes of the city

Every superhero needs a top-notch ride. While Batman has to choose among all of his Batmobiles, other heroes, like firefighters, have a lot to show, too. Steven Asbury, an expert in the sphere of city fire safety, is constantly upgrading the city department’s engines. Here’s the new Arrow XT platform with a ton of things to spy: a dozen of compartments, flashing lights, switches, and some skillfully designed custom stickers.

Truck2

And on a quiet day, this truck is still a finest jewel of the modern LEGO city.
