Late January 2020 in an unprecedented approach, LEGO opened the decision for the next Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) to be voted by fans. A month later the winning entry accounted for 58% of the votes, and now 17 months after that, the fan choice of the Republic Gunship from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones now joins the exclusive club of LEGO Star Wars flagship sets. The LEGO 75309 Republic Gunship comes with 3,292 pieces and will retail for US $349.99 | CAN $479.99 | UK £329.99 on August 1st 2021.

LEGO Ideas 21328 Seinfeld features Jerry’s NYC apartment [Review]
There are not many sitcoms that were on air for as long as Seinfeld, especially given the famously simple premise of a show about nothing, which earned its reputation for taking mundane situations we can all relate to and turning them into pure comedic gold by repetition and exaggeration. Created by stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, Seinfeld had 9 seasons, premiering on July 5, 1989, and running until May 14, 1998, ending with 180 episodes. Now Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment joins the growing rank of sitcom-based LEGO kits which started with 21302 Big-Bang Theory and was followed up by 21319 Central Perk from Friends, and recently the neighboring 10292 Friends Apartments. Like those, the Seinfield set is jam-packed with easter eggs and references to some of the series’ most memorable episodes along with some very accurate details and some great building techniques, so let’s jump right in. LEGO Ideas 21328 Seinfeld includes 1,326 pieces and will be available to VIP members from July 21, and available to everyone on August 1, 2021 for US $79.99 | CAN $109.99 | UK £69.99.

LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series 75309 Republic Gunship [Review]
Ever since it won the three-way fan vote over the TIE bomber and Nebulon-B medical frigate, LEGO has been teasing the next Ultimate Collector Series for almost 18 months, with a virtual press event we attended several months ago (where the design team showed off the cockpit canopy) and a social media tease as recently as yesterday. The set includes 3,292 pieces with two minifigures, and will retail for US $349.99 | CAN $479.99 | UK £329.99. Coming in hot from an orbital drop, we have your first look here on The Brothers Brick.

Avatars, Assemble!
The charismatic twitch star, CodeMiko, is presented in Lego form through these fantastic builds by TBB alumn Iain Heath. CodeMiko is famous for her highly detailed avatars which she portrays through motion capture. In this set of builds, we can see some of the unusual avatars she uses. For me, the fish costume really stands out, with its bulbous eyes and bright blue colour scheme. Miko is even shown in her motion-capture gear, known as the Technician (the one with orange dots). Hinge pieces represent noses throughout the models and the lower parts of the faces appear to have been built upside down. The playful style of the builds captures the energetic personality of CodeMiko and her characters. Let’s hope it all brings a smile to your face.
This brick-built cat is life-sized…and it loves you just as much.
I’m a cat guy. Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs, but they can be a tad needy. That’s why I appreciate the independent streak of a cat. Sometimes you need your pet to go entertain itself for a while, right? You can’t always be hugging and cuddling and… Well, anyway, that’s why this life-size cat LEGO creation by Ed Diment has got me thinking I might need to trade up. Why shouldn’t I have a LEGO cat instead? It takes up the same amount of space as my cat, and it’s got those cute tufts of fur in the ears made from teeth plates. But it doesn’t need to be fed or taken to the vet. And it will shower me with just as much affection as my cat does. Which is to say none. Rascal, I don’t know if you’re reading this, but…I just want to cuddle. Why do you have to hurt me so?

Thinking outside the box with a friendly landspeeder
My friends and I buy each other small LEGO sets that do not compute with the space-y things we build. We buy LEGO Friends, Trolls World Tour, DOTS, and the like. It’s all a joke of course, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t try to build from them. I (Mansur “Waffles” Soeleman) received LEGO Friends: Andrea’s Bunny Cube from fellow builder Gubi, and I knew I had to use the big cube pods in a build. Previously I used a Ninjago arcade pod in a Classic Space build, and the medium blue of this bunny cube wasn’t going to be that off-putting. I just had to hide the bunny face…
The Friends cube offers plenty of connection points both inside and out. Having one facing up and one facing down provided a good start, as one of them would be the cockpit. Hiding the hinges at the side is always a challenge, but it was nothing that greebling couldn’t fix. The addition of side engines also hid the irregularities of the cubes. One thing that seemed cooler in my head was the inclusion of the cloth pieces representing the “bunny’s ears”. They add more colour despite their texture and shape clashing with the mechanical nature of the landspeeder. After the struggle of attaching the engines from the top section which hides the printed bunny face, I could finally relax and go all out with the underside greebling…
TL:DR; Even the strangest of LEGO pieces can serve as the foundation for a good build. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Find magic in this LEGO version of Dumbledore’s office
Two years after making a LEGO recreation of the Gryffindor Common Room from Harry Potter, Hans Dendauw is back with a fun, detailed version of Professor Dumbledore’s office. Both builds are constructed in the style of the current line of Harry Potter sets, and I would happily purchase them. The books and the carpet really tie the room together along with the twin curved staircases. There are some fun elements lurking around, like The Monster Book of Monsters from The Chamber of Secrets in the lower right and the Niffler from the Fantastic Beasts films, perched on top of one of the many bookshelves. I can’t wait to see what Hans will come up with next.
Is there this much room in your mushroom?
Eat your heart out, Papa Smurf. Whimsical mushroom homes don’t come much better than Mushroom Manor by builder valerius_maximus. An artisan stone walkway leads to a front door that’s all charm, thanks in part to its turntable-based decorative window. Go inside and make yourself at home by tending to the windowsill planter, then wind your way up either of the branching towers. It’s the towers that really set this home apart from other mushrooms in the neighborhood. Decorated with a lovely winding vine, these towers say, “this is where you want to get your medicinal elixirs/a new clue about your side quest.” And don’t forget to spend an afternoon in the surrounding gardens with a gorgeous bouquet of wildflowers and…smaller mushrooms? Huh. Is this area zoned for a detached guest house?
