LEGO Star Wars 75382 TIE Interceptor: the Ultimate Collector Series returns to its roots [Review]

2024 marks an auspicious year for LEGO Star Wars, as it hits its quarter-century. The theme has evolved and changed a lot over the years, but one mainstay has been the Ultimate Collector Series, which launched just a year after the Star Wars theme’s debut. 7191 X-Wing Fighter and 7181 TIE Interceptor were the first sets to be released under this banner in the year 2000. While the former has seen two re-releases, one of which is on shelves at the moment, the latter has not been re-visited at this larger, detailed scale – until now. With 1,931 pieces, it will retail for US $229.99 | CAN $299.99 | UK £199.99 (non-Insiders can get it from May 4th). Has it been worth the wait? Read on to find out!

LEGO Star Wars 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser – A gigantic plate sandwich! [Review]

Let’s take a trip back in time. No, we’re not going to head all the way back to 2005 when the Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser first made its appearance on screen in Revenge of the Sith, but it’s close. The year is 2007, and I’ve just begun my junior year of college at the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!). I go with some friends to IKEA for dorm room accoutrements, and we stop at the Mall of America on the way back. It’s at that mall’s LEGO store that I, irrational college student that I am at the time, purchase 10143 Death Star II. It was epic! I sat in my room watching Episodes I through VI while I assembled the great ball of bricks, feeling my love of the SW Universe course through my fingers and into this mammoth set I could barely afford. To this day, it’s the only LEGO Star Wars UCS set I’ve ever purchased. I thought back on this time quite a bit as I tackled the construction of the latest offering in the Ultimate Collector Series: 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. Star Wars certainly has come a long way since then, as has LEGO. You’ll have to read on to uncover my nostalgia-laden build of this new model. Constructed of 5,374 pieces, and available from LEGO stores and their website on October 4 (October 1 for Insiders), 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser retails for US $649.99 | CAN $849.99 | UK £559.99.

LEGO reveals next UCS set: 75355 Ultimate Collector Series X-wing Starfighter [News]

Today LEGO has taken the wraps off the latest Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) set, returning to its roots with 75355 X-wing Starfighter. This set marks the third iteration of the X-wing as a UCS set, with an X-wing being one of the original two UCS sets, and the most recent version having been discontinued in 2015. The new set takes advantage of more recently released elements (including at least one previously unseen) to give more details to the starfighter model. It’s also the largest version with 1,949 pieces. The set includes Luke and R2-D2 minifigures. It will be available starting May 1 for US $239.99 | CAN $319.99 | UK £209.99.

LEGO Star Wars reveals 75331 The Razor Crest as next Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) set [News]

Today LEGO has revealed 75331 The Razor Crest as the next Ultimately Collector Series (UCS) set in the Star Wars lineup. The infamous bounty hunter’s ship from The Mandalorian marks the first vehicle from one of Disney’s Star Wars TV series to get the UCS treatment. With 6,187 pieces and 28 inches (72 cm) in length, the new ship is in minifigure scale, dwarfing the previous 75292 Razor Crest set from 2020. The set will include Din Djarin, Grogu, Kuiil on a brick-built blurrg, and a Mythrol prisoner. It also features a full interior with multiple removable hull sections for access. It will retail for US $599.99 | CAN $759.99 | UK £519.99 and will be available for LEGO VIP members starting Oct. 3, with general availability following Oct. 7.

LEGO Star Wars UCS 75341 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder [Review]

One of the very first vehicles seen on screen in Star Wars is at long last coming to the LEGO Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) with 75341 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder. This dilapidated two-seater civilian vehicle is nearly as iconic to Star Wars as the X-wing or Millennium Falcon and has appeared in minifigure scale numerous times, starting with a simple 49-piece version in the original LEGO Star Wars lineup in 1999. The new UCS version is considerably larger with 1,890 pieces and measuring nearly 20 inches long (50cm). It also includes a display stand and minifigures of Luke and C-3PO. The UCS Landspeeder will be available just in time for May the Fourth sales this year, with VIP access starting May 1 and general availability on May 4. It will retail for US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £174.99.

LEGO Star Wars 75341 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder revealed as next Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) set [News]

Today LEGO is revealing the long-rumored Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) version of one of the most iconic vehicles from Star Wars with 75341 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder. This 1,890-piece set features a large-scale version of the X-34 landspeeder along with a stand, info placard, and minifigures of Luke and C-3PO. Luke appears to be the same version that’s been in a number of sets previously, such as 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina. C-3PO is a new print that’s unique even from the one in this year’s 75339 Death Star Trash Compactor. The UCS Landspeeder will arrive just in time for the annual Star Wars holiday of May the Fourth, with the set available to LEGO VIP members starting May 1, and general availability a few days later on May 4. It will retail for US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £174.99.

LEGO Star Wars reveals 6,800-piece Ultimate Collector Series 75313 AT-AT that’s actually minifigure scale [News]

LEGO has just taken the wraps off its next Ultimate Collector Series Star Wars set, a minifigure-scale version of the Empire’s most fearsome walker, the AT-AT. With 6,785 pieces, 75313 AT-AT stands over two feet tall and features a fully detailed interior. It includes nine minifigures, two speeder bikes, an E-Web turret, and enough firepower to take out a Rebel shield generator with ease. With a retail price of US $799.99 | CAN $949.99 | UK £749.99, the UCS AT-AT is taking its place along the 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon as the most expensive LEGO sets ever released. It is slated to be available starting Nov. 26.

LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series 75313 AT-AT — The Empire truly strikes back [Review]

LEGO’s tremendously popular Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) models have been the flagships of the Star Wars theme since they were first introduced back in 2000. Most of the models have been large-scale interpretations of various ships, such as the 75275 UCS A-wing. However, a small handful have been closer to minifigure-scale versions of larger vehicles, notably the 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon and 75060 UCS Slave I. LEGO’s latest UCS model follows in the latter vein, bringing fans a proper minifigure-scale model of the Empire’s fearsome beast, the AT-AT. 75313 AT-AT is the second-largest Star Wars set to date, with 6,785 pieces, falling short by fewer than 800 pieces of the UCS Millennium Falcon. It features nine minifigures, including Luke Skywalker, General Veers, two AT-AT pilots, and five Snowtroopers, and will be available starting Nov. 26 for US $799.99 | CAN $949.99 | UK £749.99.

LEGO Star Wars reveals 75309 Republic Gunship as next Ultimate Collector Series set [News]

Late January 2020 in an unprecedented approach, LEGO opened the decision for the next Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) to be voted by fans. A month later the winning entry accounted for 58% of the votes, and now 17 months after that, the fan choice of the Republic Gunship from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones now joins the exclusive club of LEGO Star Wars flagship sets. The LEGO 75309 Republic Gunship comes with 3,292 pieces and will retail for US $349.99 | CAN $479.99 | UK £329.99 on August 1st 2021.

Ever since it won the three-way fan vote over the TIE bomber and Nebulon-B medical frigate, LEGO has been teasing the next Ultimate Collector Series for almost 18 months, with a virtual press event we attended several months ago (where the design team showed off the cockpit canopy) and a social media tease as recently as yesterday. But today, LEGO is finally officially unveiling the UCS 75309 Republic Gunship, which will be released on August 1st. LEGO Star Wars reveals 75308 R2-D2, a 2,300-piece UCS-style model to celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th [News]

To celebrate Lucasfilm’s 50th Anniversary in 2021, LEGO Star Wars is taking the wraps off the long-anticipated Ultimate Collector Series-style droid with 75308 R2-D2. The large model of one of Star Wars’ most beloved characters stands 12.5 in tall (31cm) and uses 2,314 pieces. The set will include the large model of R2-D2, a UCS-style info placard, a minifigure-scale R2-D2, and a brick printed with the Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary logo. It will retail for US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £179.99 when it’s available starting May 1, meaning it will be available just in time for this year’s May the Fourth Star Wars Day sales. R2-D2 will be an exclusive limited to LEGO stores and the LEGO website.

The T-70 X-wing of Poe Dameron’s dreams

There is always one LEGO creation where it’s “love at first sight.” You never expect that build to leave you breathless, but when it does, it does. This UCS-scale T-70 X-wing by Jared Reisweber is the one that stole my heart. Instantly recognisable from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this massive model is the most accurate representation of Poe Dameron’s starfighter that I’ve seen so far. It helps that this build is larger than it appears, capturing even the tiniest, most intricate details, and replicating the complex shapes and curves, which even the best of builders struggle to get accurate. Sometimes all it takes to build the perfect X-wing is to go big or go home.
