Tag Archives: Video Games

Even if you’re not an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo gamer yourself, and even if you’ve never played one of the many LEGO games, it’s hard not to appreciate the strange and stunning LEGO creations inspired by video games. Look for lots of LEGO models inspired by Halo, the Legend of Zelda, Gears of War, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, and more. Game on!

LEGO Rock Band CubeDude has a green mohawk and regrettable tattoos

Ryan Wood (lights) rocks. Also, he built a CubeDude, which also rocks.

I love the tattoos on his arm, and how he’s holding the whammy bar.

Speaking of LEGO Rock Band, the video game is due out next month, and the full track list has been announced. (I’ve been avoiding dedicating a whole post to this. Sorry for hijacking your CubeDude for news purposes, Ry.)

Red Zephyr

Is the Crimson Skies fad coming back? If the Red Zephyr by Jonhall18 is the start of the comeback, sign me up.

This plane has a great feel of bulk in all the right places. I like the airfoil shape of the wings, and the bubble up at the front of the fuselage adds a great touch of the fantastic.

LEGO bricks are good for building 8-bit graphics

Marcos Bessa also built a scene from Megaman in 3D. The combination of studs in different directions works out well, but I think the waterfall would look better if it were built with plates placed sideways (at the same time costing much more). Overall, this is an interesting creation; check out the gallery to see the original screenshot.

Obscurance’s M808B Grizzly tank

I finally bought an Xbox 360, and not having an original Xbox either, I’m catching up on about eight years of games. And you know what? Halo doesn’t suck (though I could do without the chorus of 11-year-old fanboys).

Stephen Chao (obscurance) demonstrates that LEGO Halo creations can be pretty cool too, with this great M808B “Grizzly” Main Battle Tank Advanced.

LEGO Universe moves forward [News]

LEGO Universe screenshot

The first screenshots of LEGO Universe have just been released and Jim Foulds has asked us to share them with the world. In his words

The first screenshots for LEGO Universe make their world premiere this week. These images show off the diversity the players will encounter in the game. It’s scheduled to launch in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK, and North America in 2010.

Safety is a huge priority for LEGO Universe. Many solutions are being explored through technology, processes, and people to provide the most creative and safe environment possible.

Of course since it is a LEGO product, one can expect a creative and building focus to give players the opportunity to do a variety of activities that allow for them to interact with the LEGO elements in a virtual reality. Building with LEGO elements in LEGO Universe will take many forms, ultimately allowing players to bring their real-life creations to life inside the game.

LEGO Universe will feature a subscription model. Lot’s of research and evaluation of various models went into this decision and we feel it provides the best method to provide a trusted online experience for the player.

We’re sure you wondering about beta and the “VIP launch”. We still plan on doing both, but we are not ready to announce dates or how to sign-up just yet.

Please keep an eye out on future updates and if you absolutely have to have the latest information make sure to visit www.legouniverse.com.

Take an 8-bit Trip with Tomas Redigh & Daniel Larsson

Tomas Redigh spent 1,500 hours using LEGO to animate a song by Daniel Larsson. With appearances from Mario, Pong, Tetris, Pac-Man, and more, the video is sure to please any video game fan.

LEGO Rock Band gameplay footage reveals destructive power of rock ‘n’ roll

Rock and roll may not be noise pollution, but it can apparently bring down an otherwise indestructible building.

Steam City + Red Faction dune buggy

I put off blogging this lovely floating rock/steampunk city by Kevin Fedde (Crimson Wolf) because Nannan had just just blogged his Field of Dreams.

It’s like a lovely steampunk version of 10193 Medieval Market Village:icon

Since then, Kevin has also posted a very cool dune buggy from Red Faction: Guerilla.

The red backdrop adds a lot to the presentation, and I particularly like the subtle wheel covers.

Taidan Raptor

There are too many castle creations on the front page of this site right now. I had to add some more space.

Fortunately, Stefan (Brainbikerider) built this lovely Taidan Raptor inspired by the Homeworld games. The color blocking is fantastic, as is the shaping on the cockpit area. There’s some great brick-work in that area. While I personally wish that it wasn’t such a straight line overall, I can’t argue with results like this.

Pepa Quin’s StarCraft II Terran Medivac Dropship will cure what ails you

Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin) continues his awesome series of StarCraft II LEGO creations with his latest, the Medivac Dropship.

Dropships are one of my favorite sci-fi vehicles, and Matt’s SC2 version doesn’t disappoint. Note the brick-built red crosses and how Matt has incorporated the new Space Police III spikes. (Via Young Spacers Association Blog.)

And since we missed it last month, here’s Matt’s SCV (which I suspect is good to go):

Danny Rice is a Castle Crasher. Are you?

LEGO Red Knight from Castle Crashers

Danny Rice (Big X) has built one of the adorable playable characters from the Xbox Live Arcade game Castle Crashers. The eyes on Danny’s Red Knight are excellent.

LEGO BioShock Big Daddy stands ready to defend Little Sisters

The latest LEGO creation by Guy Himber (V&A Steamworks) is a spot-on rendition of the Big Daddies from BioShock.

LEGO Bioshock Big Daddy

The Belville Scala figure works great at this scale as a Little Sister, and the Knights’ Kingdom II armor is especially nice.
