Just as LEGO did with The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie, there’s a wave of collectible minifigures dedicated to the characters in September’s The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Revealed only a last month, 71019 The LEGO Ninjago Movie Collectible Minifigures will be hitting stores August 1 ahead of the movie, and feature 20 characters who, nicely enough, are not all ninjas. But much like the world of Ninjago itself, these characters, who range from a sushi chef to a teen pop fan, abide in a stereotyping mashup of all things Asian. The figures will retail for $3.99 each, and are concealed in blind packs just like previous series.

LEGO Ninjago 70623 Destiny’s Shadow [Review]
The LEGO Ninjago Movie and the new 2017 Ninjago sets that will accompany the film are set to release this September. To tide ourselves over until then, let’s take a look at Set 70623: Destiny’s Shadow which was released earlier this year.
The set retails for $29.99 and has 360 pieces. Considering the $0.10 per piece pricing many LEGO fans have come to expect, Destiny’s Shadow actually comes in below the expected price range. Additionally, the set currently has a 4.8 out of 5 stars review on Amazon (courtesy of five, yes five, total reviewers who either bought the set for their son or their grandson). Not bad!

Second half of LEGO Ninjago Movie collectible minifigures revealed [News]
Yesterday we brought you the first ten LEGO Ninjago Movie collectible minifigures (complete with bowls and cereal) and today LEGO has revealed the second half of this series. Here they are below, with our initial impressions. It appears that the complete series will be another highly sought-after collection. Go ninja, go Ninjago!
Lloyd
After seeing the amazing bowls from yesterday’s Lloyd minifigure, today’s is a bit more straightforward with standard ninja garb. However, a possibly new 3×3 tile with the blueprints of an awesome dragon mech as well as the new tassel piece at the bottom of his sword are welcome additions. It appears that he will also come with a hairpiece, doubling his dashing looks.
Flashback Garmadon
We called it yesterday, folks, with a younger Misako comes the downright terrifying Flashback Garmadon. I’m not sure if it is the smooth blonde locks or the aviator glasses, but this Garmadon strikes more fear into me than his normal-decked out villain look. He comes with a camera and a lovely photograph of his cozy volcano home. At least we now know where La-Lloyd got his hair from!
First ten LEGO Ninjago Movie collectible minifigures revealed [News]
This week we’ve seen a flurry of new sets from the upcoming LEGO Ninjago Movie, including the massive and eclectic Ninjago City, a gorgeous dragon ship, and many cool new mechs. To round out the theme, LEGO has announced a Ninjago Movie themed series of collectible minifigures and revealed half of them today. Here they are below, with our initial impressions. Tomorrow, LEGO will reveal the second half of this series (including the pink haired girl from the packaging and a standard issue Lloyd in ninja garb). But from just the ten that we have seen, it appears that the series will be another highly sought-after collection for both fun and parts. So stay tuned for even more LEGO Ninjago Movie news coming this week!
Lloyd Garmadon
It looks like we are in for a beautiful oriental bowl set with new utensils, as well as a new molded head with hoodie. From the scrunched up packaging, it appears that the series will also include a ninja version of La-Lloyd too.
Volcano Garmadon
These volcano PJs are adorable and the upper shorter torso could be used for a cute kids sleeping set. But what stole out attention is the beautiful bowl rounding out the new dish set.
LEGO reveals more pictures for upcoming The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets [News]
LEGO has revealed more photos of sets for their upcoming The LEGO Ninjago Movie. One set is entirely new, and while we had a preview of the others last week with the box images, now we get a full look at all the details. These also come hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement of 70620 NINJAGO City, which is one of the largest sets in LEGO’s history. The Brothers Brick got a preview of many of these sets at New York Toy Fair earlier this year (though we weren’t permitted to take pictures), and we’ve been eagerly waiting to share more information.
These sets will be available August 7, 2017.
70618 Destiny’s Bounty (2,295 Pieces; USD $159.99)
Construct Wu’s huge training base in this highly detailed set featuring 3 modular levels and a double-headed dragon, wind-up-and-release anchors, training dojo, bathroom and Wu’s bedroom in the hull – not to mention many hidden secrets.
LEGO Ninjago 70620 NINJAGO City set revealed [News]
While LEGO Ninjago fans are still busy eyeing the freshly published pictures of the upcoming sets meticulously planning expenses for the rest of the year, it’s hard to imagine a better moment for one of the hugest announcements of the year: jaw-dropping 70620 NINJGAGO City. This newly revealed set contains 4,867 pieces; while price isn’t confirmed, we believe it will retail for somewhere near USD $299. The set contains 16 minifigures, including some of your favorite ninjas along with citizens of NINJAGO city. No release date is available yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know!
Update:
LEGO has now confirmed the set will retail for $299 in the USA, and £259.99 in the UK, and will be available beginning September 1. Early access to VIP members is likely mid-August.
Pirates and ninjas and... robots?
Considering how successful LEGO’s Ninjago line is – with sets, cartoons and soon even a feature film – there is a surprising lack of fan creations under this theme. James Zhan defies this stereotype with his latest build of a roadside battle. The temple walker is a very interesting build, with great technical, robotic details at the bottom, and just as carefully chosen pieces for the temple’s architectural decoration. But this is so much more than just a walker on a road, the excellent minifig action makes the scene look alive.
A fancy title is all you need
Excited for The LEGO Ninjago Movie? The movie trailer has been out since February, and we got our first official look at some of the sets last month. But whether or not you’re going to take a pass on the film or are already in line (6 months early), you can surely appreciate this awesome fan design of a brick-built scroll of the movie’s title by ZiO Chao. The lettering is perfect, both for the small text in Latin characters on the top and bottom and the main title with hànzì characters.
LEGO Rebrick reveals upcoming sets from The LEGO Ninjago Movie [News]
LEGO Rebrick has just announced a new contest to tie in with the upcoming The LEGO Ninjago Movie, called Ninja For a Day, and revealed a few of the upcoming sets. There will be six grand prize winners in this stop motion film contest, and the website states that prize bundle includes The full LEGO Ninjago Movie assortment and One exclusive LEGO Ninjago mystery set valued at $300 USD – to be revealed at a later date. Two of the movie sets are pictured in the contest announcement. 70615 shows the front of the box, which displays a large red mecha, and 70612, with 544 pieces, is called Green Ninja Mech Dragon, and the green dragon mecha can be seen on the side packaging.
On closer examination, the minifigures can be seen along the bottom of 70615, which includes Kai and Zane, though only Lloyd and Master Wu can be seen on the smaller set.

Not all ninjas travel by dragon
Being unfamiliar with LEGO Ninjago universe, I had no idea that besides some majestic dragons the main characters also use traditional sailboats to travel around. Teen builder Robert4168 decided to recreate one from the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu television show, and in my opinion it looks even more impressive than the dragons featured in the official sets.
Unlike most of the builds by designers from Billund, this ship looks truly solid, huge enough to fit a whole squadron of ninjas, and features some cool authentic sails. But the best part is the perfect use of long golden blades along its boards marking off the blue and brown areas. Topped off with an excellent red dragon head, this boat fits in with both the modern Ninjago adventures and the good old Ninja sets of late 90’s.
