LEGO Marvel reveals 4,000-piece 76210 Iron Man Hulkbuster from the Avengers Infinity Saga [News]

Today LEGO has revealed the latest top-tier set from the Marvel Infinity Saga theme with 76210 Iron Man Hulkbuster. This massive model of Tony Stark’s indestructible mech stands 20.5 in. ( 52 cm) tall and contains 4,049 pieces. 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition came out in 2019 as a near-minifigure scale model, but this version is a significantly larger scale, though in the vein of many large display models from themes like Marvel and Star Wars, it includes a minifigure of Tony Stark that can be displayed along with the info placard. Tony can also be slotted into the gigantic mech. The Hulkbuster will retail for US $549.99 | CAN $699.99 | UK £474.99 when it’s available starting Nov. 4 for LEGO VIP members. General availability will follow on Nov. 9.

LEGO Art revealed as mosaic sets of The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Star Wars Sith and Iron Man [News]

LEGO has revealed an entirely new product line of mosaic sets featuring pop culture portraits called LEGO Art. The four initial sets revealed include Iron Man, Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, and Star Wars Sith. Each of the adult-targeted sets contains an average of 3,250 pieces, a new brick separator, several new elements, an exclusive signature tile, and instructions and extra parts to build 3 or 4 different designs per set. Each set comes with a curated building soundtrack, and as an added bonus, three copies of either the Iron Man or Star Wars sets can be combined to make an “ultimate piece” triple the size of a single portrait.

Each LEGO Art set comes in a box the size of a pizza and will retail for US $119.99 | CAN $149.99 | UK £114.99. The Iron Man portrait will be available globally (including the US) exclusively from LEGO on August 1st. The other three portraits will be available globally from LEGO and various retailers starting August 1st, except in the US which will have to wait a month until September 1st.

If ever a hero deserved an upgrade...

Say what you will about Tony Stark, but sometimes it feels like he has the same solution for every problem: Put a suit of armor on it. Take, for example, the case when his regular armor isn’t studly enough. His answer? Put on another suit of armor on top of the one he’s already wearing. Sounds kind of silly, but you have to admit that the Hulkbuster does get results. We’ve seen a few LEGO-released versions of it over the years, but the LEGO community always seems to take things one step further. Case in point, Sam.C (S2 Toys Studios) brings us an excellent upgrade indeed.

Hulkbuster Pew Pew

The key piece of the build is the Hulkbuster canopy from 2015’s 76031: The Hulk Buster Smash. The rest of the build, though, feels a bit closer to 2018’s 76104: The Hulkbuster Smash-Up (I mentioned we’d seen a few of these from LEGO, right?) The detailing is much improved here, with bulkier legs and better integration of the angles in the chest armor. I particularly like the pistons in the knee assembly and the printed 1×1 round tile used in the feet.

We have a Hulkbuster!

If you saw our review of the LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition set last year, you might recall there was some disappointment with the figure’s appearance. John Car has come smashing though with a more faithful looking rendition of the Hulkbuster. While it uses some of the parts and stickers from the original set, the proportions feel bigger, beefier and Hulkier.

War Machine buster is bursting with style...and serious weaponry

Mech builder extraordinaire Kelvin Low goes by the Flickr handle chubbybots, which aptly describes his sometimes chunky building style. Kelvin also has a knack for re-imagining and rebuilding official LEGO set mechs with stunning results. They are often much more detailed than then their official LEGO counterparts, such as this Hulkbuster sized War Machine. Kelvin’s model not only looks great, but it is highly poseable, with a fully loaded arsenal of guns, rockets, and cannons.

Hidden throughout the model are several transparent red plates that complement the transparent red 2×2 round plate with rounded bottom used for the main reactor. I think that Rhodes is set up to give Thanos or anybody else who gets in his way a serious run for their money.

Need to take on something big, green and angry? Build your own Hulkbuster! [Instructions]

If LEGO instruction builders could be ranked, Hachiroku24 would be close to the top — both for his designs and the videos he uses to share those designs. His most recent set of instructions comes from the armory of Tony Stark: the Hulkbuster. This well-designed, fully articulated and heavily armoured power suit is a well-balanced build as well as an easy to follow instruction guide. Each section is beautifully structured, incorporating a great array of plates with ball joints and bars to give this Minifig scale behemoth some excellent functionality. The mid section, where we find the flat silver ingots and printed 1×1 half circle tiles really does it for me. It’s not just that silvery band of simplistic greebles, but the pivot articulation from the waist up.

A tale of two Hulkbusters (and a Hulk)

The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition that was released not very long ago gives everyone the potential to be a Tony Stark. However, both versions featured today just might make the official Hulkbuster set look a lot less menacing. They’re distinctly different builds of this monster machine, yet side-by-side they’re remarkably similar at a glance. Interestingly, both are significantly more poseable than the official version.

Hulkbuster mod that does it right!

Before you mistake this for 76105 Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition, it’s not! It’s a modified version of it by the famous Singaporean Mecha builder Kelvin Low, who’s better known in the fan-builder circles as Chubbybots. Hardcore Mecha fans like Kelvin will never be satisfied with stock builds which sometimes may have limitations because of the way parts are used. The only right thing to do is fix it! I think with the mods he’s made, it turned out well much better than what LEGO did!
