Sometimes I am too fast when it comes to labeling LEGO pieces as useless or at least single use pieces. When I first saw the Disney Storybook Adventure sets I liked the small parts that came with it and the Micro Dolls. I couldn’t care less, however, for the book covers or the big 6 x 8 oval plates that came with it. Keith Reed has proven me wrong by using these pieces in a lovely way. In their latest creation the oval plates have been used as paintings. Displayed in a very lovely and well lit hallway. I may be reading too much into it, but my guess is that even the foliage outside matches the paintings. I see red roses in front of Belle and a shell in front of the Ariel painting. In front of Mulan we have the azalea and the magnolia. And last but not least, in front of Elsa and Anna there is… nothing to back my theory up except for two different flowers that might represent the different princesses. As I said, I might be reading to much into it. Whatever the meaning, it’s a beautiful and elegant scene.

“Higitus figitus migitus mum! Prestidigitonium!”
If you do not recognize this character at all, you need to watch the Disney classic Sword in the Stone, stat. It’s certainly one of the best Disney films ever, and I think Rickard Stensby must agree! One of my favorite parts of the movie is when Merlin casts a spell where he packs the contents of his entire house into a traveling bag. In true Disney fashion, he sings his spell, “Higitus Figitus.” Arguably, the better line is “Hockety, pockety, wokety, wack,” but I digress. Rickard perfectly sculpts the scene in LEGO, from the shrinking belongings floating into the bag, down to the rickety wooden floorboards. Merlin himself is unmistakable with his blue outfit, glasses, and an overly long beard.
Top marks for perfectly recreating the body pose, as well as the use of bananas and droid heads for fingers.

First look at new LEGO Disney BrickHeadz sets 40476 & 40477 with Scrooge McDuck, Daisy Duck and more [News]
LEGO has uploaded images of two new Disney BrickHeadz sets, 40477 Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey & Louie, and 40476 Daisy Duck. The new sets will be part of the ongoing Mickey Mouse & Friends subtheme, following last year’s BrickHeadz of Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. There’s no word yet on the details such as release day, part count, or pricing, though it’s likely the standalone Daisy Duck will retail for $9.99, while the Scrooge & nephews set will be $19.99. Many sets are slated for a June 1 release, so it’s likely these will be among them.
LEGO Disney Mickey and Friends theme revealed as part of the 4+ lineup [News]
Our friends over at Brickset have spotted that Dutch retailer Van Der Meulen has published images of a pair of new sets based on the Mickey and Friends brand, which is the umbrella under which Disney places most of its movies, TV shows, and cartoons with the iconic characters. The two new sets are part of LEGO’s 4+ line aimed at junior builders, and feature simple builds with large elements. Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy have all appeared in minifigure form in a few sets before, but Pluto makes a first appearance in this scale. There’s no word yet on specific pricing or availability dates, but LEGO generally releases a large wave of sets on June 1, so it’s possible these may become available then.
I’ll huff and I’ll puff!
As a kid, I always loved Disney’s version of the three little pigs. Alego alego managed to capture the big bad wolf in all its wickedness. I am always a fan of a creation that looks as if it is in motion. This LEGO creation is a wonderful example of one that evokes movement. A couple of things attributed to the idea of motion in this creation. Let’s start with the Wolf. His pose is very dynamic as if we caught him mid-action. The builder use of the boulder bottom for inflated cheeks is quite clever. The rock fingers and the polygon wedge top mimic fur brilliantly.
But not just the pose of the wolf evokes movement. We’re at the first little pig’s home. The one who has built his house with straws. The wolf just delivered his iconic lines about huffing and puffing and blowing houses away and he is now in the middle of the process. The straw flying everywhere sure looks amazing! All of the vegetation is bending in the same direction as the straw is flying. Even the books pages are moving along with the huffing and the puffing of the wolf.
LEGO Ideas 21326 Winnie the Pooh: building the Hundred Acre Wood [Review]
In the writings of A. A. Milne, the Hundred Acre Wood is home to many beloved characters. LEGO invites us all to visit these childhood friends in LEGO Ideas 21326 Winnie the Pooh. Based on an idea submitted by fan Ben Alder in March of 2019, this set will be available to LEGO VIP members starting March 18, with general availability following on April 1st. For US $99.99 | CAN $139.99 | UK £89.99 you’ll get Pooh’s home and five exclusive minifigures. Read along as we look for honey-dipped surprises, keeping a watchful eye out for any stray Heffalumps. (Spoiler alert: There are no Heffalumps in this set.)

LEGO Ideas reveals 21326 Winnie the Pooh 1,200-piece set, bringing Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and more [News]
Today LEGO has revealed the latest set from its Ideas crowd-sourcing platform. 21326 Winnie the Pooh will feature the popular characters from A. A. Milne’s book series along with Pooh’s home under the tree in the Hundred Acre Wood, as interpreted by Disney. The set will include five characters: Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, and Eeyore. The 1,265-piece set is slated to be available for LEGO VIP members starting March 18 with general availability on April 1. It will retail for US $99.99 | CAN $139.99 | UK £89.99. The Winnie the Pooh project was created by fan Ben Alder in March of 2019, and hit the requisite 10,000 votes in July of that year. It was approved by LEGO in February of last year, joining the Medieval Blacksmith as the two projects from the first 2019 LEGO Ideas review to be turned into official sets.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta e fasul, that’s amore
LEGO is a beautiful medium to use. When sharing your creations you share the visual aspect of what you have made. Some creations are mainly visual appealing, some creations manage to evoke emotions. It rarely happens that a creation reminds you of a smell or a taste of even a sound. KitKat1414’s creation does this all for me. I can just smell and almost taste the pasta. And the best thing about this creation, next to the build itself, has to be that it appears to come with its own soundtrack. The song ‘That’s Amore’ by Dean Martin has been stuck in my head ever since seeing this lovely build.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your…long chain of bricks
A classic fairy tale gets the LEGO treatment with this towering six foot tall brick-built minifigure-scale structure created by Martin Harris and inspired by the Disney film Tangled. Not only do we get the famous tower in this work, we also get a nice landscape – the forest in which Rapunzel was tucked away, complete with colorful trees and a nice riverbed utilizing many nature-inspired elements including flower pieces, plants, and tree-limb elements in varying colors.
LEGO sets for Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon revealed [News]
Three LEGO sets for Disney’s upcoming animated film Raya and the Last Dragon have been revealed, thanks to retailer Learning Express Gifts. Raya was originally slated to premiere last November but has been bumped to March 5, when it will release simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+. The new LEGO sets are part of the Disney Princess lineup and feature minidolls rather than minifigures. The sets introduce a number of new elements for designs iconic to the movie, such as Raya’s conical straw hat and her pill bug-like companion Tuk Tuk, and of course, Sisu the dragon. There’s no word yet when the sets will be available for sale.
