BrickHeadz debuted in 2016 as a new way for LEGO fans to build and display their fandom and creativity. As of 2024, LEGO has released over 250 BrickHeadz characters, sold either individually or in groups. While most BrickHeadz are based on characters from pop culture, like Marvel comics, Disney films, or Lord of the Rings, LEGO also releases BrickHeadz tied to holidays, as well as a kit to make a BrickHeadz character of yourself! As all BrickHeadz share a common size and style, creating your own can be a fun way to share your love for a favorite character.

Darth Vader BrickHeadz is a larger-than-life character

As rumors of future LEGO BrickHeadz characters swirl around on the Internet, LEGO builders still have the freedom to build their own designs free of influence from potential official versions. We’ve featured Tan Kok Mun excellent and adorable BrickHeadz Boba Fett previously, but we had to do a double-take when we saw this Darth Vader.

At first glance, this looks like a regular-sized LEGO BrickHeadz Dark Lord of the Sith, but if you look closer you’ll see that it’s double-sized — everything from the 1×1 printed eye tiles to the studs and number tile on the display stand are brick-built at 2x scale! The extra detail on Darth Vader’s mask gives this away as a larger-than-normal BrickHeadz.

Happy Star Wars Day, kids!

Some crazy old space wizard once described the light saber as “an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age” — something that is clearly borne out by the plethora of civilized dismemberments seen in the Star Wars franchise. I was very pleased to see this tradition being continued in the latest installment, so much so that I decided to augment LEGO’s rather limited selection of Last Jedi BrickHeadz with one featuring a very special “play feature”…

Exploring personalization with LEGO BrickHeadz 41597 Go Brick Me [Review]

In case it wasn’t obvious from previous features, we here at TBB love BrickHeadz, and the recent release of 41597 Go Brick Me has fueled the fire even more. Since we already published a full review of Go Brick Me, I decided to take an alternate approach with my own early copy and focus on putting the versatility of the included parts to the test. As mentioned in the full review, the most amazing aspect of this set is the ability to personalize your BrickHeadz character to truly reflect your own unique appearance and personality.

So, let’s jump right in.

Holy Brickhead Batman!

Brickheadz are a fairly common subject here on The Brothers Brick, whether reviewing official sets, sharing instructions to build your own, or showcasing custom creations. Fan-built tributes to this chunky and highly-collectible series are popping up all over, and today we’re featuring a couple of classics built by Andrew Cookston.

Brickheadz: Batman (Bronze Age) & Two Face (B:TAS)

On the left, is Batman from the 1960’s original television series starring Adam West, which made sound effects from printed comics come to life with a bang. On the right, we have Two-Face, a.k.a. former DA Harvey Dent, from the Batman animated series from the early 90’s. Both models are spot-on accurate in their resemblance to their on-screen inspirations.

LEGO BrickHeadz 41611 Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown from Back to the Future [Review]

Back To The Future has been a favourite franchise for a generation, but has not had any new movies in nearly 30 years. And yet, the iconic 1980’s trilogy continues getting revivals in every way possible, including as LEGO sets. We first saw it as an Ideas set (back when the line was known as Cuusoo) with 21103 DeLorean Time Machine, and then another revival of the theme in various LEGO Dimension add-ons, including Doc Emmet Brown Fun Pack and the Back to the Future Level Pack featuring Marty McFly. We now have them come together for the first time as LEGO BrickHeadz with the 41611 Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown two-pack.

LEGO BrickHeadz from Jurassic World – 41614 Owen & Blue [Review]

BrickHeadz are clearly here to stay, and no matter what your favorite film genre, there is a BrickHeadz character for that… or at least there will be someday. Now we can add the cloned dinosaur survival genre to that list with the recent announcement of 41614 Owen & Blue from the Jurassic World franchise. This set features our favorite velociraptor-whisperer, Owen Grady, along with Blue, the only surviving velociraptor from the recent installment of Jurassic World. The 41614 Owen & Blue two-pack set retails for $19.99 and includes 234 pieces.

Build your very own Donald Trump BrickHead [Instructions]

When we set out to plan our April First content, a lot of great ideas were suggested. But when the idea to build BrickHeadz of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin was suggested, we knew we had a winner. I was thrilled to build them, having already designed and built custom BrickHeadz of Santa, and recently, a Leprechaun.

My first idea was to really make it a solid caricature, with comb-over blowing in the wind, and a shirtless Putin. But the trick to any good April Fools joke is to have enough realism to make it plausible, to really make people think, the same way that the best lies have a kernel of truth. So we decided that they should have that certain official “LEGO BrickHeadz style.” Luckily for me, the recent release of the LEGO Go Brick Me set that we have recently reviewed included just the parts we needed to give our custom BrickHeadz that kernel of truth.

The article was very successful and even led to some folks contacting LEGO about how they could get a copy of the set (for reals, please don’t do that). Sadly, this set will never be available to purchase (LEGO Education has much more important work to do like helping teach creativity to kids than making satirical products). But we are proud to share the instructions here, and while we don’t have a parts list, most of the parts used are readily available along with the Go Brick Me set, available now in stores.

LEGO BrickHeadz from Solo: A Star Wars Story — 41608 & 41609 Han Solo & Chewbacca [Review]

Adorably cute or cringingly ugly—no matter your position on LEGO’s BrickHeadz characters, there’s no denying they’ve struck a chord with a great many fans. Since the first BrickHeadz characters a few years ago, LEGO has rapidly expanded the cast of blocky brick-built figures. They’ve even just released a kit allowing you to fully customize your own—41597 Go Brick Me. But like nearly all the previous sets, the latest lineup mostly features characters from major franchises. And although Star Wars is arguably the biggest franchise of them all, the characters we’re looking at today hail from an offshoot: Solo: A Star Wars Story, which opens May 25. 41608 Han Solo and 41609 Chewbacca have 141 and 149 pieces respectively, and each retails for $9.99 USD, and are available now.
