LEGO reveals 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City, the first set in the Star Wars Master Builder Series [News]

LEGO Star Wars is returning to the planet Bespin with 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City, a 2,812-piece playset based off memorable scenes from The Empire Strikes Back. The set includes a whopping 18 minifigures, two droids, and two vehicles: Boba Fett’s Slave I ship and a twin-pod Cloud Car. The set is also the first in the newly revealed LEGO Star Wars Master Builder Series.

Betrayal at Cloud City will hit stores on October 1st for $349.99 USD, and will be available early for LEGO VIP members beginning September 13 at the LEGO Store Online.

Updated edition of The LEGO Book from DK will come with an exclusive LEGO 2×4 printed brick [News]

Global publisher DK, known for its releases of LEGO-themed reference books like Ultimate LEGO Star Wars and LEGO DC Superheroes: Build Your Own Adventure, today announces their next special edition book — an updated edition of The LEGO Book. The 280-page book will celebrate both the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick and the 40th anniversary of the LEGO minifigure, and will guide its readers through the incredible story of the world’s most famous toy manufacturer.

Besides being updated with pictures and facts on the latest LEGO themes and products, The LEGO Book will include stories about how some fan creations have become official LEGO products though the LEGO Ideas program, and much more. Moreover, the book will come with an exclusive, red 2×4 LEGO brick featuring an outline of the LEGO brick design and the dates 1958 and 2018, symbolising a piece of the company’s heritage.

The LEGO Book will be available starting October 4, 2018 and will retail at £18.99 in the UK.

New 6,000-piece LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle 71043 revealed as 2nd-largest LEGO set ever [News]

Today LEGO has unveiled the flagship playset from this year’s Harry Potter franchise. Consisting of a massive 6,020 pieces, it’s the largest set to be revealed this year and by far the biggest Harry Potter set ever. In fact, it’s the second-largest LEGO set of all time, coming in behind the Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon. The set will be available August 15 for VIP members with a general release on Sept. 1 for $399.99 USD.

The set includes the most complete layout of the Hogwarts castle yet including the Whomping Willow and Hagrid’s Hut, all created in microscale and populated with numerous microfigs of students, teachers, and Dementors, along with Aragog, the Basilisk, and even a Hungarian Horntail. It also includes four minifigures of the Hogwarts house founders: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw, none of whom have appeared in LEGO form before.

Exclusive interviews with LEGO designer and Aston Martin Creative Director at London LEGO Creator Expert 10262 James Bond DB5 set launch event [News]

Earlier this morning, The Brothers Brick attended what was supposed to be a top-secret launch event at LEGO’s flagship UK store in Leicester Square, London. The silver Aston Martin DB5 parked outside the main entrance was a bit of a giveaway that today was all about the new Creator Expert 10262 James Bond DB5 set.

Third San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO exclusive revealed as Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp [News]

The third and final set out of the three VHS-boxed-exclusives has been revealed and it is not a surprise to see a Marvel franchise attached to the theme. Ant-Man is featured as a bust together with a Wasp minifigure from the upcoming movie, emerging out of the bay in Giant-Man form (as seen in the trailers).

Giant 2,300-piece LEGO Ideas 21311 Voltron: Defender of the Universe set revealed [News]

First announced as a forthcoming set nearly a year ago, LEGO is finally taking the wraps off its newest crowd-sourced kit, 21311 Voltron. Based on both the iconic 1980s animated television show of the same name and its subsequent modern-day reboot by DreamWorks, the set will feature five robotic lions who can combine into the super robot Voltron. With 2,321 pieces, the massive mech will be the largest Ideas set to date, easily outpacing the Old Fishing Store and NASA Apollo Saturn V. The set will be on sale briefly at San Diego Comic-Con next month, then will be available to LEGO VIP members beginning July 23, before being widely available August 1. Voltron will retail for $179.99 USD.

New LEGO Wizarding World of Harry Potter collectible minifigures series revealed [News]

The ever-popular Collectible Minifigures are back, and this time they’re headed for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Announced today, LEGO’s newest line adds 22 characters from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, joining BrickHeadz like Harry and Hedwig and traditional sets like the Quidditch Match. Although many of the characters have appeared in previous sets, each character features an all-new design with detailed printing, making the familiar wizards and witches look better than ever before. As with previous series, 71022 Wizarding World of Harry Potter Minifigures Series will come in blind bags for $3.99 each. They’ll be available August 1.
