LEGO Harry Potter 76398 Hogwarts Hospital Wing [Review]

Last year, LEGO celebrated the 20 year anniversary of its Harry Potter line and as such, we were gifted with a plethora of sets themed mostly around the first and second movies. In addition to a brick-built Fluffy and new Basilisk design partnered with a castle reboot, we also got massive still life Icons and Moments from classes throughout the series presented as compact little book-style playsets. While the latter made for a good balance between display and play, the former gave us a reboot of the modular Hogwarts castle. Or at least it seems that way given the repetition of the Great Hall and Astronomy Towers in the Chamber of Secrets sets. The addition of the new 76398 Hogwarts Hospital Wing further suggests a reboot as it features a new version of the iconic clock tower above the beds in the infirmary. This 510 piece set comes with four exclusive minifigures and will be available March 1st for US $49.99 | CAN $64.99 | UK £44.99.

The LEGO Group provided The Brothers Brick with an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

From Hogwarts to the University of Cambricks, an alternate build for 71043 Hogwarts Castle

Alternate builds for LEGO sets have long been part of the fun. When I was a kid, I remember loving to see the variants featured on the back of the box. As a young fan of LEGO, it inspired me to look at that box of bricks in a different light — to try my hand at my own alternates. Twenty years later, I can count myself amongst a crowd of LEGO fans devoted to alternate builds. Though you can find all sizes of re-imagined sets, few are as ambitions as builder Lucas Bolt and his Modular variant of the microscale 71043 Hogwarts Castle. Inspired by the magic school aspect, Lucas created the University of Cambricks to fit perfectly on the corner of a LEGO Modular city street.

New 6,000-piece LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle 71043 revealed as 2nd-largest LEGO set ever [News]

Today LEGO has unveiled the flagship playset from this year’s Harry Potter franchise. Consisting of a massive 6,020 pieces, it’s the largest set to be revealed this year and by far the biggest Harry Potter set ever. In fact, it’s the second-largest LEGO set of all time, coming in behind the Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon. The set will be available August 15 for VIP members with a general release on Sept. 1 for $399.99 USD.

The set includes the most complete layout of the Hogwarts castle yet including the Whomping Willow and Hagrid’s Hut, all created in microscale and populated with numerous microfigs of students, teachers, and Dementors, along with Aragog, the Basilisk, and even a Hungarian Horntail. It also includes four minifigures of the Hogwarts house founders: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw, none of whom have appeared in LEGO form before.
