LEGO unveils two new Star Wars: The Mandalorian sets including the Razor Crest and an adorable Baby Yoda minifigure [News]

LEGO has officially unveiled two new sets based on Star Wars: The Mandalorian ahead of the New York Toy Fair this weekend. The biggest set is 75292 The Razor Crest which comes with 1,023 pieces and minifigures including The Mandalorian, IG-11, Greef Karga, a Scout Trooper, and a new Baby Yoda minifigure. It’s available for preorder for US $129.99 | CAN $159.99 | UK £119.99 and will be a LEGO Store and Amazon exclusive when it releases Sept. 1. The other set is 75317 The Mandalorian & The Child, a pair of BrickHeadz coming in at 295 pieces, which was revealed last week, and is also available for preorder for US $19.99 | CAN $24.99 | UK £17.99. It will be released Aug. 1.

75292 The Razor Crest comes with 1,023 pieces and measures over 5.5 inches high (14cm), 15 inches long (38cm) and 11 inches wide (28cm). It features a dual minifigure cockpit, a cargo hold with opening sides and access ramps, a sleeping area and a detachable escape pod. (No word if it also features the first bathroom ever seen in Star Wars.)

A follow-up interview with actor Will Arnett about hosting LEGO Masters [Interview]

The Brothers Brick was invited to visit the LEGO Masters set in December ahead of the taping of the finale and had the chance to interview actor Will Arnett about his new hosting job. Last week, we had another opportunity to chat with Will to see how things have changed since the show started airing, and we specifically asked him questions suggested by you, our readers!

First look at LEGO Dots with the exclusive Creativity Box [Review]

LEGO’s new Dots line is the company’s latest attempt to gain a foothold in the tween girl jewelry market. (See the LEGO Dots announcement here.) Most LEGO fans are probably familiar with the company’s previous venture into this market with the Clickits theme, which had dozens of sets from 2003-2006. And while that theme’s success in its target market is open for debate, it’s rarely a theme that elicits positive responses from adult fans, thanks to one fatal flaw: Clickits is barely compatible with traditional LEGO. Certainly, some enterprising fans have put bits to great use, but it’s largely its own system. Thankfully, LEGO appears to have learned a lesson from that experiment and its new line of tween jewelry is solidly grounded in the bricks and plates that we all know and love. Or, perhaps more accurately, the tiles. The titular “dots” are the plethora of good old fashioned 1×1 tiles included in every set.

Leaving LEGO Masters: An interview with the first contestants to leave [Feature]

LEGO Masters has aired its second episode, and the first team has been chosen to go home. The Brothers Brick had the opportunity to sit down with them and talk about their experience, what it was like to build under pressure, and what the reaction has been to appearing on the reality show.

In the interview conducted jointly with BZPower and True North Bricks, the team talks about how it felt to change directions halfway into a challenge, what they would have done differently, and what advice they have for contestants on LEGO Masters Season 2. If you haven’t yet watched the episode, be warned that there will be some spoilers!

LEGO Ideas approves 2 new sets in latest review: Medieval Blacksmith and Winnie the Pooh [News]

The crowdsourcing platform LEGO Ideas this morning announced the results of their latest review, selecting the Medieval Blacksmith and Winnie the Pooh projects to become official LEGO sets. This review covered projects that reached 10,000 votes during mid-2019, with 10 projects qualifying during that period.

Of the 10 qualifying submissions, which ranged from a UCS-scale Space Shuttle Atlantis to a diorama of The Office, the LEGO Ideas team selected these two projects to be produced as official LEGO sets. LEGO doesn’t guarantee any projects will be selected during the review process. The projects can be rejected for any number of reasons, including sales projections, ability to withstand LEGO’s rigorous set design process, or conflicts with an upcoming LEGO set already in development for another theme.

LEGO Masters premieres tonight, and LEGO fans in the US will finally get the chance to watch the hotly anticipated show. Earlier this week, we sat down with LEGO Masters judges Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard to talk about the premiere and what life has been like since filming the reality show.

In the interview conducted jointly with Brickset and BZPower, Amy and Jamie talk about the unexpected challenges involved in being judges, how the three million LEGO parts were chosen for the show, what it was like to spend time with the guest stars, and what they brought back with them from the set!

The Republic Gunship will be one of the next Ultimate Collector Series LEGO Star Wars sets [News]

During the last week of January, LEGO Star Wars fans were busy choosing a model for one of the next Ultimate Collector Series LEGO Star Wars sets. Finally, the results of the fan vote are in, and the winner has just been announced on the LEGO Ideas blog. According to the results, the absolute winner is the Republic Gunship. The spaceship got more than 50% of the votes.

We have no idea what exactly the final product will look like. LEGO doesn’t share any details on when the set might be available, promising it will be one of the next Ultimate Collector Series LEGO Star Wars sets.
