Lego has just revealed two new sets from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: one from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, featuring Aragog the spider, and another from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald, which is the latest of the sets being released for this November’s new movie (following 75951 Grindelwald’s Escape). These sets should be available this August as part of the summer wave.

A striking turn-of-the-century style dreadnought, the CWS Bannanaville is outfitted with more armaments than you could hope to face if she decides to give you a broadside. Designed by Thomas of Tortuga, this fictional fleet-leader is one of the best examples of microscale warship building I’ve seen, with lots of perfect little details. Because of how perfectly it fits, the one I like best is the use of the “cheese grater” 1×2 slopes for ladders between the decks. It’s a remarkably good render, to boot.
Now that the film is out, LEGO is delving deeper into the plot of Solo: A Star Wars Story, revealing three new sets on Amazon UK. All three are part of a key action scene in the movie where smugglers attempt to pull off an epic heist, but for those who haven’t yet seen the film, they’re mostly spoiler-free, as they don’t reveal much more than the trailers did.

The dragon is a common fantasy trope, but they’re hard to tire of because they come in so many wonderful varieties. This dragon, by Henjin_Quilones, is named Kijani the Earth Dragon. With a sand green color scheme similar to the Ninjago Green Ninja Mech Dragon, this beast has a totally different look. It even uses that set’s sculpted snout piece, but moves the eyes forward a bit, giving it a cute, stubby face befitting a dragon used to nosing about the earth.
Henjin says the dragon is fully articulated, from the toes to the wings. The double base is also a great effect here, with a big of earthy terrain and a more polished-looking smooth black rectangle beneath.
Predating Monk by a few decades, this gripping TV detective show featured a pair of chipmunks ready to solve any crime, no matter how or small. Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers was a staple of kids’ cartoons in the 90s, and now this dynamic duo has been brought to the brick by an equally talented pair of builders, with Chip built by Leonid An and Dale by Vlad Lisin.

For many of us, the original Blacktron sets hold a nostalgic place in our hearts. However, when viewed with today’s building standards in mind, some might say they are lacking a certain modern touch. Andrea Lattanzio has built our black-suited friends a state-of- the-art armored personnel carrier that looks straight out of a 21st century Blacktron remake. The color scheme is spot on: black with yellow accents, and the use of uncommon old door pieces, among others, adds interesting details to the sides of the vehicle.
The builder has also made a cool video showcasing the features of the build, including a complete interior with seating for five troopers, opening hatches, and a removable turret.
The first San Diego Comic-Con 2018 LEGO Exclusive — 75512 Millennium Falcon Cockpit — was just revealed yesterday. The new day brings us the next SDCC 2018 set — 75996 DC Super Heroes Aquaman and Storm, and a closer look at yesterday’s reveal. A first-look at DC‘s iconic Aquaman and Storm from their original animated TV appearances in the ’60s as a collectible LEGO building set, which will be exclusively sold at San Diego Comic-Con.
Looking at the elements, fans would rejoice as it seems that there appear to be no unique parts to build in these on your own. Both Minifigures in the Star Wars set come from the recent Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212). What is unique is the vertically oriented box that’s designed like a comic book cover featuring line art instead of photorealistic scene. Collectors of boxed sets would certainly want to have this in their collection simply for the uniqueness of that old-school look. The third and final set will be revealed soon.

Despite being one of the most fascinating and amiable places in many LEGO universes, LEGO City is notorious for its poor health services accessibility: Since the start of the modern theme in 2005, only two hospital buildings (in other words, hospital-themed LEGO sets) have been released. As a comparison, LEGO City can boast 9 police stations and 5 fire stations complete with numerous cars, motorcycles and aircraft. A modern medical center was long-awaited by many fans, and finally here is the first step towards healthier population: LEGO City 60204 City Hospital set. The set was revealed back in April and immediately kindled many fans’ interest.

This piece of digital art was painted with LEGO elements that we’re familiar with — Technic gears and System tiles. Anthony Wilson provokes thought and makes one peek deep into the depths of the machine. What is the machine? Who is the machine? A still of a slender wanderer perhaps, navigating an endless journey. What is he searching for? The sharp and protruding edges give a sense of evil and danger ahead. Do the elements rearrange themselves to hinder the wanderer or do they give heed to his commands? Or are these the dreams of the toiling, tired and weary LEGO fan in preparation for tomorrow’s brick convention?
Usually, fan-built BrickHeadz models feature well-known public figures or fictional characters from pop culture, like The Little Mermaid, Scooby Doo & Shaggy, Rose Tico and Jar Jar, and my own Trump and Putin BrickHeadz. For a nice change, this Hazmat responder by √erde’ is a really well-designed model true to the BrickHeadz aesthetic while clearly depicting the Hazmat uniform. Armed with what looks like a flame-thrower, humanity is safe from any potential outbreak.
One of my favorite details is the simple use of hinge plates in two colors to form the life support tube on the front, and he has a complete life support system on his back.
It took me a moment to recall a round printed LEGO piece that Sheo. used for the whirl in the centre of this portal in his latest creation. And then it hit me — it’s a very nice use of dinosaur tails and small claws! The final result is a wonderful example of negative space done right with LEGO pieces. And now it’s not the minifigure in front of the portal, but the builder who is the true wizard.
Every year LEGO releases exclusives at San Diego Comic-Con and this year is no different. Star Wars themes have always been favourites. It’s back again this year with a build showcase of the cockpit segment of the Millennium Falcon featuring Han Solo and Chewbacca.
