Rolls Royce Silver Ghost: a fine vintage car

Not content with bringing you one LEGO model of the classic vintage Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, I am spoiling you with two. Both of these models are entries to the LUGNuts 100th Challenge.

The first Silver Ghost is by Firas Abu-Jaber, a well-known, skilled LEGO car builder – although normally a fan of racy supercars such as this Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR. Firas has gone all out with this build, a pristine example of a Rolls Royce Springfield Silver Ghost Playboy Roadster. With shiny chrome, cream body and curvy shaping, she will definitely turn heads. If you want to see her from different angles and have a peek under her hood, there are more images on MOC pages.

Next we have Martien Nijdam, who has also created a Silver Ghost in classic racing green, complete with golden ‘boa constrictor‘ horn. I believe that Pino has gone for an earlier 1921 model complete with crankshaft. As my bicycle knowledge is far superior to my knowledge of any vehicle with a motor, please correct me if I am wrong. Who ya gonna telegraph? GHOSTBUSTERS!

Cpt. Brick shows us what the Ghostbusters crew might have looked like if they’d been born in London instead of New York, a hundred years earlier. These Victorian gentlemen look ready to tackle ectoplasmic entities as well as pesky librarians. Just don’t cross the steams! That would be bad — nearly as bad as that steampunk pun right there.

My two loves in life are bikes and LEGO, so you can imagine how excited I am by Tim Schwalfenberg‘s LEGO bike. Tim’s fixie has an awesome rigid frame, old school brown leather seat and a clever solution to re-inventing the wheel.

Working LEGO orrery is accurate to 97% [Video]

The mastermind of LEGO models featuring motion, Jason Allemann has built a working orrery featuring the sun, earth and moon. Although other LEGO orreries exist, Jason’s model is the only one that is over 97% accurate compared to the actual rotation frequencies of these celestial bodies.

Mission a-corn-plished: Bob Belcher’s burger joint recreated in LEGO

We love a good pun here at The Brothers Brick. And it’s clear that the creators of the hit cartoon Bob’s Burgers feel the same – a fact that Chris Goddard did not overlook when he built this spot-on recreation of the street from the show’s opening titles. For the ever-changing store next to the titular diner, Chris went with “Butt Stuff Underwear Outlet”. But he could just as easily have gone for “Magnum G.I. Colonoscopies”, “A Fridge Too Far Used Appliances” or any of the hundred different store names snuck into the sequence by the animators over the show’s five year history.

Three of our favourite things: LEGO Steampunk dragon

We’re sure the LEGO steampunk fans among our readers were happy when they saw the newest Ninjago subtheme in the form of Skybound. Ninjas versus sky pirates with a steampunk, setting as the ninja’s dragons mount an assualt against the pirate’s flying fortress? Hell. Yes.

Using pieces from 70603 Raid Zeppelin and 70605 Misfortune’s Keep, LEGO 7 gave the pirates a dragon of their own, and it’s an amalgamation of majesty and aggression

The four seasons of Arangr Castle

It’s nearly spring here in the northern hemisphere, while summer draws to a close south of the equator. Time marches on. soccersnyderi has rebuilt the landscaping and scenery around one of his LEGO castles four times, reflecting all four seasons of the year. Up here in Seattle, I’m ready for spring myself, so I’m enjoying the tree in pink bloom and the ducks paddling in the castle’s tiny moat.

The 88th Academy Awards will be held this Sunday in Hollywood, and Andrea Toscano created a brickfilm trailer featuring all eight Best Picture nominees, from The Revenant and The Martian to Brooklyn and Room. Which is your favorite LEGO version?

Functioning LEGO pinball machine bounces you from the Shire to Mordor [Video + Interview]

We’ve posted several impressive LEGO-built games over the years (including LEGO versions of Settlers of Catan, Trench, Go, and even a LEGO Star Wars pinball machine), but Jonas‘s Lord of the Rings-themed game is truly jaw-dropping. This one hundred percent LEGO, fully functioning pinball machine includes microscale scenes from all your favorite Middle Earth locations, including Hobbiton (the ball shooter lane), Helms Deep, Ortanc, Weathertop (a bumper), Fangorn, Minas Tirith, and even the Black Gates of Mordor (each gate is a flipper!)

The machine is over two feet long and a foot wide and tall (or 62cm x 32cm x 36cm to be precise) and Jonas says it took him twelve straight hours of work and more than 2000 pieces to create this arcade masterpiece.

In space, no one can hear you smack your lips

Things are heating up in our Space Chefs Competition Kitchen with these two fun entries whetting our appetite for more culinary creations.

For a quick appetizer, Lego 7‘s Hot Dog Chef will relish the opportunity to make the largest, tastiest hot dog in the galaxy. With spare dogs in the back and condiments at the ready, his speedy skills will let you ketchup and get on with your day!

For a second course, Marco Marozzi serves up his slightly fishy looking Masterchef. I love his head and eyes, while his belly suggests that he likes to taste his culinary creations first. With four arms I’m sure he can fillet a fish faster than you can say it!

Cylon Raiders vs Colonial Vipers

Beauty is not necessarily complex. Simon Pickard proves simplicity goes a long way. He uses a single part to represent the Cylon Raider ships, and his Colonial Viper fighters don’t require more than 20 pieces. Minimalism may become a new trend in LEGO creations!

There were only a handful of Vipers remaining to defend humanity in the reimagined series. It was always painful to watch them go boom against the practically unlimited number of Raiders. Simon obviously isn’t as sentimental as I am – he prefers to blow one up for this creation. Shame on him!
