LEGO invites you to take a tropical vacation with a number of sets based on the latest season of Ninjago. Sounds nice, but knowing Ninjago themes, by “vacation” they probably mean “a trip into very dangerous waters”. Today we’re taking a look at 71748 Catamaran Sea Battle which will be available March 1st from the LEGO Shop Online. At US $69.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £59.99 for 780 pieces, this is the largest and most expensive offering in this wave of sets. It comes with six minifigures and two pretty swanky boats. LEGO BrickHeadz Pets: 40442 Goldfish and 40443 Budgie [Review]

Two new sets in the Pets subtheme are here to grow the BrickHeadz family, following the recent BrickHeadz dog and cat sets. 40442 Goldfish (US $14.99 | CAN $19.99 | UK £13.49) and 40443 Budgie (US $14.99 | CAN $19.99 | UK £13.49) will be available starting March 1. Adorable to look at and fun to build, these creatures can either be displayed on a shelf as colorful decor pieces or swooshed around the room, and whether that’s under the water or in the sky is up to your imagination. LEGO 40179 Personalized Mosaic Portrait: downsized, but not in a fun way [Feature]

The LEGO Company is well-known for its excellent customer service. The products are generally high quality, and when errors occur they are quick to issue replacements. However, we recently encountered an unfortunate scenario that left a bad impression. While many of the products we review are provided for us by LEGO itself (which doesn’t mean, of course, that we always give them positive coverage), just like most of you, we also buy a lot of LEGO through regular retail avenues. That’s where I come in. My name is Chris Doyle, and I’m a contributor here at The Brothers Brick. Frequent readers may also recognize my name from the LEGO Art super hero mosaics I’ve been building lately. It’s fair to say I’ve spent a lot (a lot a lot a lot) of money on LEGO mosaic kits and related parts over the past year. When LEGO announced their new 40179 Personalized Mosaic Portrait kit, I quickly found an excuse to buy it. But what do you do when the 6,002-piece set you order arrives and it only has 4,502 pieces? Somewhere along the way, LEGO substantially changed the number of pieces included in this set. Here’s my experience.

LEGO 40456 & 40457 Brick Sketches: Mickey and Minnie Mouse [Review]

In 2020, LEGO revealed Brick Sketches, a collectible series of brick-built portraits of popular characters. The first wave featured DC comic icons Batman and the Joker, and Star Wars fan favorites BB-8 and a First Order Stormtrooper. A second wave of designs will start arriving in stores on March 1st, and will retail for US $16.99 | CAN $19.99 | UK £14.99. The new sketches feature Disney’s Mickey and Friends, and includes 40456 Mickey Mouse and 40457 Minnie Mouse. How do these new sketches stack up? Are they of any interest beyond just being cute? LEGO VIDIYO sets are officially revealed [News]

Today, LEGO announced the first wave of brand new VIDIYO sets. The new press release gives more details about what we learned from the initial announcement, as well as introduced new types of products. The new LEGO VIDIYO is all about three things: BeatBoxes, Bandmates, and BeatBits. The first wave, which is slated for March 1, will include six unique portable BeatBoxes that each hold a minifigure representing a specific music genre. The colorful tiles included in each BeatBox, are called BeatBits; you’ll find two special BeatBits and 14 random BeatBits in each BeatBox. Besides the six BeatBoxes, the series will include 12 Bandmates to collect.

The upcoming season of Ninjago is an Island-based storyline, and LEGO will be releasing a number of sets to go along with the televised adventures. It will feature Zippy the Jungle Dragon (yes, really), a small sailboat, and four minifigures. Previous Ninjago dragons have ranged from the really fantastic to the pretty lack-luster. LEGO Education BricQ Motion is now available on LEGO online shop [News]

LEGO Education BricQ Motion is the latest package introduced by LEGO for lower and upper elementary school students to be introduced to hands-on STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Mathematics). The Brothers Brick reviewed the 45401 LEGO Education BricQ Motion Essential Set earlier this year.
