Chris Malloy (porschecm2) has been a LEGO fan nearly all his life, having started with System bricks at age 3. He is the co-author of Ultimate LEGO Star Wars, and his creations have been featured in several books and The LEGO Movie. He also helped develop the first LEGO Minecraft set, 21102 Minecraft Micro World: The Forest, which has gone on to inspire a whole theme of sets. He's been active in the online community since 2002, and regularly attends LEGO fan conventions such as BrickCon and BrickCan. LEGO, Ford announce new set celebrating 50 years of Le Mans victories [News]

LEGO and Ford have announced a new set in their ongoing partnership that celebrates Ford’s historic Le Mans victories. The first win came in 1966 with the iconic Ford GT40, as Ford’s cars swept the board with a 1-2-3 win and cemented the company’s place on the stage as a world-class racecar manufacturer. Exactly 50 years later the Ford GT, the descendant of the GT40, placed first in the GTE Pro class at Le Mans. The new LEGO Speed Champions set contains both the Ford GT40 and the Ford GT to celebrate these wins. The new set will be available March 1 for €34.99 (£29.99). Cyber Monday LEGO deals include Fantastic Beasts Dimensions story pack for 40% off [News]

The weekend over, this morning shoppers flock to the internet to grab the hottest deals for Cyber Monday. We’ve already covered some great LEGO deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but a few new deals are cropping up this morning on Amazon and the LEGO Shop online.

Amazon has the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Dimensions Story Pack for 40% off, bringing it down to $29.99. It’s the only LEGO set to include Newt Schamander. It’s currently out of stock, but is available for backorder at the discounted price. The Fantastic Beasts Dimensions Fun Pack is also on sale for 15% off, making it $10.19.

Classic Space scavenges Bionicle bits for fierce fighter

This nifty little spacecraft by Ted Andes bears the Classic Space emblem, but the aesthetic has taken a turn for the modern. It’s a cool mashup, and I’m particularly drawn to the way the old logo looks on a large, smooth swath of grey wing. This fighter also makes good use of a number of oft-overlooked large Bionicle pieces to create an aggressive look.

Fan builds epic guitar out of LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon

What could be more awesome than a guitar made of LEGO? How about a guitar made of a LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon! Korean Builder Kkaebok turned his LEGO set of Han Solo’s infamous space freighter into a radical guitar, with everything but the strings made of LEGO. Plus, the cockpit and interior light up for extra cool points. Let’s be honest: who doesn’t want a guitar made of a LEGO Millennium Falcon?

More LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets revealed, including Iron Man and Captain America [News]

Here’s the first official look at a few of next year’s Marvel Superheroes sets. We got an early look at the Hulk vs. Red Hulk set in July, but now you can also check out new Iron Man and Captain America sets. The Iron Man set includes Phil Coulson and his darling car, Lola.

First look at LEGO sets from Disney’s upcoming film Moana [News]

Disney’s newest animated feature, Moana, is the story of a little girl from the Pacific Islands who encounters a demigod on her journey to save her people. The movie comes out this Wednesday, but we haven’t gotten a good official look at the LEGO sets accompanying it until now. There are two sets, each featuring Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) as a minidoll, and the larger set also features demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) as a large, Hulk-style figure. We’ll be bringing you an early hands-on review of both sets in a few weeks, before they’re due to hit stores.

Huge LEGO Technic Fighter Jet and more revealed for 2017 [News]

We got a look at 7 of 2017’s new LEGO Technic sets last week, but LEGO still has more surprises to come. Here are 2 more all-new Technic sets, including an awesome Air Race Jet that cops some design cues from the new F-35, such as a thrust-vectoring nozzle for VTOL capabilities. The other set is a more utilitarian vehicle; a Telehandler bucket loader. Both kits have alternate builds, and we’ve got lots of images showing their working functions.

New LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets revealed for 2017 [News]

Star Wars: Rogue One opens in just 1 month, and there are plenty of LEGO sets to go along with it as the LEGO Star Wars line stays as strong as ever. In fact, many of the current Rogue One sets are already on sale! This new wave of sets should make its debut early next year (if not sooner), and includes some classic vehicles fans will recognize from the original trilogy, such as the Y-Wing Starfighter. There’s also a new wave of chibi microfighters for young and old fans alike to swoosh about, as well as more large buildable-action figures.

How It Should Have Ended retells Harry Potter with LEGO in 90 seconds [Video]

Youtube movie-spoofers/critics How It Should Have Ended have enlisted LEGO animators Brotherhood Workshop to create an amusing recap of all seven Harry Potter films in just 90 seconds, running Harry through all the various trials in record time. It’s perfect timing, as moviegoers prepare for today’s opening of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first new film set in the Wizarding World since 2011 (spoilers: I saw it last night and loved it). The new Dimensions packs based on Fantastic Beasts are also available today, featuring Newt Scamander and Niffler in a Story Pack, and Tina Goldstein and the Swooping Evil in a Fun Pack.

3 new city skylines grace the LEGO Architecture theme for 2017 [News]

LEGO is adding 3 more cities to its popular skylines branch of the Architecture theme. This time around we’ll get the iconic structures of Sydney, Chicago, and London. These will nicely complement last year’s New York City skyline, which we reviewed, as well as the Berlin and Venice skyline sets (all 3 of which are on sale for 25-30% off on Amazon).
