Brickfilming on national TV

True to word, ABC’s series I-CAUGHT aired a four-minute segment featuring brickfilms on the 11th, and within hours several copies were available on the Internet. Included were interviews with Brian Gribbon, Joshua Leasure and David Pagano, and clips from a dozen brickfilms, including my own Infinity Squared.  There is also an accompanying online article.

Brickfilms and Brickfilmers on ABC’s I-CAUGHT, to air 9/11

ABC’s new television series I-CAUGHT will be featuring a segment about brickfilmers and brickfilming on Tuesday, September 11, 9 PM EST.   The story is expected to feature an interview with four prominent brickfilmers: Lewis “Lechnology” Chen, the “Leftfielder” brothers, and Joshua “RevMen” Leasure, owner of Brickfilms.com.  The story is also expected to feature clips from my own brickfilm Infinity Squared, among other brickfilms.  More information can be found here.

SkeleCrab by Mikey (Count Blockula)

Everyone’s favorite count has come up with a spooky giant skeleton crab out of two of those new skeleton horses from the Castle 2007 line:

My turn at ApocaLEGO

Well, I finally got it done.  I first started this creation the moment after the new fan-created LEGO theme ApocaLEGO was launched, but it took a while to get just right.  I’m pleased to present Checkpoint.  This checkpoint is stationed around the remains of an old brick building and consists of a crow’s nest lookout, rows of sandbags and barbed wire, and precious little else.  A tilted pole barely manages to provide power, and an awning provides a little relief from the burning sun.

Arctic Scout by Gladius

Flickrite Gladius recently posted a very cool (pun intended) tri-treaded Arctic Scout.

Happy Birthday LEGO!

“I feel an immense sense of pleasure and pride when I meet children and adults who enjoy our products. Throughout its 75-year history the LEGO Group has been through difficult and good times – fortunately much more good than difficult! This has been possible only because we have been blessed with – and still have – an incredibly committed team of employees. They have helped to keep alive the fundamental principles on which my grandfather set up the company. So I’m confident that we can look forward to the next 75 years.” – Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen

The age of ApocaLEGO is upon us.

As Andrew said, ApocaLEGO is the new Steampunk (I’m working on a diorama myself – my first large LEGO creation in over a year).  Fantastic new creations are popping up, including this beautiful diorama by Legohaulic.

A Motorcycle of My Own

Plug time!  Inspired by the work of Noddy (and Micheal Jasper), I built my own motorcycle:

Brickshelf.com: Back from the brink?

A new message has graced the top of Brickshelf.com:

Notice: Brickshelf will not be shutting down!
We will be offering “featured” accounts for $5/month shortly.

We have received hundreds of supportive emails in the past few days including many who said they would like to contribute financially but did not know how. This has had us rethink the practicality of charging for enhanced features. We plan to do this without reducing current functionality for free users. Thank you for your enormous show of support.

IMPORTANT: do NOT try to download the entire site, it causes major problems, slows things down for normal users and you will be permanently blocked. We will make older folders public again after we see the crawlers go away.

Brickshelf: Shutting Down July 31, 2007

Brickshelf is now accessable through http://www.brickshelf.com/ or https://www.brickshelf.com/ (you may see a certificate error). At the top of the page in red text reads:

Notice: Brickshelf will be shutting down on 2007/07/31.
Please save your files to your computer.

Everyone who hasn’t backed up their files already, DO SO NOW.

EDIT (AB): Bob Kojima has created a tool that can back up files from Brickshelf. You can download the Zip file from BZPower (thanks for the tip, Kelly!) here (318 KB).

EDIT 2 (AB): Jim DeVona has created a backup tool for Mac OS X. You can download it and read instructions on how to run it in Jim’s post on LUGNET. You’re a lifesaver, Jim!

EDIT 3 (LB/AB): Interested parties have begun backing up important folders other than their own while they can. There are threads on classic-castle, classic-space, FBTB Forums, and Forum 0937 to do this as systematic as possible. Thanks to Bruce for the heads up. If this is happening on other communities as well, please let us know.

Indy Fig

Brickshelf user Tilius has posted an CGI image of the new Indiana Jones minifigure.

New whip, new hat, possibly even some sort of new bag/pouch? Plus, of course, new head, torso and leg designs? I like. A lot.

EDIT (AB): ThrowMetheIdol.com seems to have been the first to post this picture, and the MTV Movies Blog posted a higher-resolution version the next day. Oh, and don’t miss the rather hilarious discussion of this photo on Flickr.

EDIT 2 (AB): Tilius seems to have moved or deleted the image, so I’m replacing it with the high-res version from the MTV Movies Blog.
