Using a certain seed part as a focal point for a build can be challenging but in a good way. Constraints can fuel creativity… like in this clever little train by Thomas Gion that uses a particular Technic connector for the center of the steam engine. And while this is a great part usage, my eye was drawn to the genius use of sideways tiles inserted into the base to form the rails and slats for the train tracks. The simple stone arch and landscape round out this small but mighty model.
When it comes to super-genius inventors with secret labs under their bedrooms plagued by the stupidity of siblings, parents and contemporaries, Dexter’s Laboratory is one of the best. And judging by this comically detailed model, GolPlaysWithLego agrees. I can almost hear his unlikely Russian accent (inspired by creator Genndy Tartakovsky) shouting Dee dee’s name.
There are so many picture-perfect details, like his large glasses, poofs of red hair, pointy shoes, and his side-buttoned lab coat, complete with a splash of green slime. And check out this alternate expression, which uses upside-down tooth parts for angry brows. Dee dee better hope he doesn’t press that shiny red button.

Febrovery, that most-wonderful of LEGO theme-building months, is over, too soon, if you ask me. But never fear, there are still plenty of quality rovers roving through the vastness of the interwebs. Like this big boy from alego alego which just might feature the most unique windscreen pieces on a single vehicle. And everyone knows that you can’t build a quality rover without fat suspensions to overcome any troublesome interstellar landscape. And if you even try to throw shade on this beefy rover, there’s a heavy cannon shell with your name on it.
This charming street market by de-marco looks like it might be inspired by a real location, with so many clever details, like the angled roof made from alternating cones for a nice tile look. The sideways windows above the shop are a great alternative to upright placements, and the cones repeated along the front rooftop work well to echo the awning below.
The builder has a good eye for distinct details that really help set their scenes apart, like in this model of a police station, where a sideways fence piece, possibly a small holding cell window, and stacked air-conditioning units provide points of visual interest. but my favorite detail is the dark-orange star on the top.
Boy, do I like a good bit of clever figure-building, and in my opinion, if you want an interesting Viking facial hair, you just can’t go wrong when you go with Minifig hair, and a fancy rumpled collar. But Dan Ko didn’t stop there. A DOTS bracelet adorns his mighty shoulders, while his helmet is topped with a pair of Minifig arms.

When the Speed Champions theme first launched in 2015, it was clearly targeted at younger builders, but over the years, the construction techniques, attention to detail, and the inclusion of some very popular racing car brands have steered the theme to a more adult audience (pun intended). The quality of the finished models is definitely shelf-worthy. LEGO has announced the latest wave of sets featuring brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Lotus, and Aston Martin. We got our hands on the entire wave, and we’re revving up to take a look at three of them. LEGO 76906 Ferrari 512 M, 76907 Lotus Evija, and 76908 Lamborghini Countach. It looks like Jonas Kramm is on a vignette roll again, and we here at The Brothers Brick love it. After a series of scenes from the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Jonas has switched genres and streaming services, starting a new series based on the Netflix show The Witcher. This scene is full of great part usage, using several Minifig accessories, not to mention legs, that are used for the gray chimney and as architectural details. Sideways fence pieces make great tall latticed windows and the dual sword holders adorn one of the buildings.

February is one of my favorite LEGO months, Because it comes before Marhikoma, and for Febrovery, when builders from around the world create rovers inspired by the classic space car. This pair of rovers by Isaac Snyder are a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern sci-fi, with smooth large wheels and an open cargo bay, the big rover reminds me of the ground vehicle from the Mass Effect video game franchise, and while I know this only shows how old I am, a bit of the classic arcade game Moon Patrol. The smaller one looks like it rolled over the hill from the lunar lander from NASA. My only question is, will the small one fit on the cargo bed. Judging by the hinged tailgate, I’m guessing it does.
One of the trademarks of a great mech is the creative use of a certain part. In this case, it’s about a Bionicle-inspired build by Johann Dakitsch, and the part is the gently curving balloon segment, which puts this model head and shoulders above the competition. Get it? Yeah, I’m a dad. And speaking of Bionicle, this model was built as part of a challenge to build Bionicle without the use of the specific parts common with that theme. Johann did a fantastic job creating the signature look using more traditional parts.
The hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian closed out its second season with one whopper of a cameo, Luke Skywalker! Who swoops in at the last second to lay waste to an entire battalion of dark troopers. Up until now, there has only been one set to include the ominous and overpowered battle droid, the Imperial light cruiser. Well, LEGO fans of the series will soon get the chance to reenact the memorable corridor attack which closely mirrors the epic hallway scene from the end of Rogue One, without all the screams.
