The classic real-time strategy game Starcraft II has inspired many LEGO creations over the years, but one of the most impressive has to be this stunning version of the multiplayer map Megaton. Built by David Frank, the map features the home bases for all three factions and measures over 16 square feet. Additionally, David has wired it with lights, giving features like the Khaydarin crystals a realistic glow.

With the original Tomb Raider video game released back in 1996 and yet another movie this year, it’s clear that there’s a lot of mileage in the Lara Croft story. The mix of adventure, exotic locations and history also makes Tomb Raider great inspiration for LEGO creations. Kevin Wanner has created a Tomb Raider diorama that has some powered features — a cascading waterfall and a perilously angled B-25 that moves as Lara Croft crosses. The negative space lettering is nicely constructed and there’s a lot of character built into the overgrown crash site.

Google Chrome users who have experienced connectivity issues may recognize this LEGO dinosaur built by joffre0714, which is based on a built-in Easter egg game playable when the browser is offline. I appreciate the effort put forth by the builder to average out the pixel sizes between two and three plates high, maintaining the overall square proportions with rectangular bricks.
Of all the two-dimensional fixed shooter games out there, Space Invaders is probably the most well known and well loved. Considering Space Invaders came out in 1978 and classic LEGO space sets like 487-1 Space Cruiser started coming out that year, it only makes sense to fuse two, and dario minisini has done just that.
Featuring some rather deft usage of various minifig parts, this build is incredibly tiny but it packs a punch and does its job of transporting us back to a time when the sideburns were longer and the internet less… in existence. Be sure to spot the usage of syringes and flippers on the spaceship and minifig hands as the “aliens”.

He can be posed in a variety of ways thanks to the use of Mixel joints.

Sometimes I wonder how characters in horror films manage to make the worst decisions. Then I played as far as I could get in the terrifying first-person perspective game Alien: Isolation, and it all makes sense. In the heat of the moment, good decisions are hard to come by, and you don’t always have as much information as you need. For example, the motion tracker, like most of the equipment found in the game, is true to the aesthetic of the Alien film franchise and while incredibly useful, has definite limitations. Nevertheless, it’s a great device, and I decided to replicate this tool with LEGO.
The screen and every light on the in-game model lights up on my LEGO replica. I also had the chance to use a technique I wanted to use in a prop replica for a while now; the coiled wire on the right side of the device was made with a flexible hose and numerous Technic worm gears.
The best microscale building takes regular LEGO parts and looks at them in a totally new way, allowing their shapes and details to represent something very different when the scale is changed. P.B. provides the perfect example in this teeny-tiny rendition of everyone’s favourite fraternal plumbers. Turn minifigure neckerchiefs upside-down and what do you have? Blue dungarees of course! The hats and moustaches round off a pair of immediately recognisable characters. Fantastic stuff.
The Faraam character/armour set that was used extensively in the marketing of Dark Souls II has now found its way to LEGO thanks to this build by robbadopdop. It’s a very heavy, layered brick build that could easily pass as a stone monument piece if you switch out all the colours for grey. The fine detailing on the shield is particularly impressive, and the shaping of the cloth and fur elements should be commended too.
Another interesting point on this build is that the picture above isn’t a Photoshop of a single build. Instead, the builder made two (one as a commission and one to keep) so we get a rare double-sided view.
There have been been many attempts to recreate Metroid‘s Samus Aran in LEGO before, with each one bringing something new to the table. This version by Logey Bear forgoes System bricks for a combination of Technic and “constraction” figure pieces. The obvious standouts here are the comically oversized pauldrons built with Duplo pieces, and the striking teal arm cannon which is built up on a Robo Riders wheel piece.
The Budas Brick’s own Iain Heath obviously seems to kno da wey, while simultaneously eating Tide pods and inapropriately reacting to a serious topic. If you are not sure what I am talking about, Iain has built a mashup of some of the dankest memes of January 2018. Agree with it or not, dank memes are the humour of the present day.
Iain is known for his excellent character builds and always keeping up to date with the hottest trends – from popular media to memes. The Ugandan Knuckles figure is as close to a low-resolution 3D model as a LEGO build can be and the hat is instantly recognizable as well. While the Tide pods are built only out of a few pieces each, they are very obvious when seen accompanied by other January 2018 memes. Now that February has started though, the former memes are officially stale. And now, it is time for CPP memes to take over the internet!

ZaziNombies LEGO Creations expands his arsenal of LEGO gaming weaponry into the massive multiplayer battle royale genre with a replica of the Tactical Shotgun from Fortnite. The chunky style and bold colors of the game were captured well. I especially like the upper handguard area and the screen mounted on the left side.
